Ben Pearce’s moody ‘What I Might Do’ set the scene for the hypnotic expedition that Digweed took us upon, with Guy J’s ‘Mish Mash’ another standout tune in a two hour set that, both musically and technically, was as good as anything we’ve seen out here on the White Isle this season. We all know that Digweed has a master’s hand, but to see him up close, moulding one storming, yet melodic new-prog track into the next, you begin to wonder whether he might secretly spend his spare time working as a practicing surgeon, carefully slicing at delicate flesh and then tenderly bonding together and subtly tweaking the visceral ruptures that pass beneath his educated scalpel."sigpicSimonR

The era of the proper live mix recordings ended around 2005 I think. It became really bad with the DJ's having their own radio shows, and sharing their own live mixes, or forcing the radio guys to talk over the new songs. The Spanish Ibiza recordings usually the worst, thanks to the extreme amount of talking. But I don't like Digweed's shares either. Only 56 minutes, 1 year old, couple of ad. breaks, voice overs, and the usual "hope you enjoy this live set with me John Digweed, recorded at blah blah on the blah blah date, it was amazing, the crowd was absolutely rockin' that night..." and so on. I know it's illegal to record a set, but they still did it back than...and everyone survived.
Ok, enough of the complaining, the set is interesting, would like to hear more, without the commentator of course.Comment
