no matter what your views on his opinions are, today is gonna be a sad day for the world. looks like the pope is losing the battle to his illness. terrible news. the man never tried to harm anyone and always tried to do the right for humanity. this puts a damper on the good feelings i had this morning. if his time ends today, i can only hope its peaceful and happy.
God bless.

how does popedom (is that the right word?) work? is there somebody in line to become the next pope? is a pope elected? sorry if thats a dumb question, i am not a religious person, just curious about what happens.
1. its called the papalcy(spelling is probably off)
2. a new pope will be elected in 14 days, every cardinal in the world will be heading to rome to hold meetings for awhile and they elect a new pope from the existing cardinals.

from what i'm reading, he's ready to go. i guess it's his time. funny story though...i went to rome a few years ago with a some friends. one of them works for the NY Yankees. we wanted to get tickets to the easter sunday mass at the vatican, so my buddy contacted the vatican prior to our trip. he told them he was with the yankees and if he can do anything to let him know, etc. long story short, cardinal defrancisco (sp?) contacted him and they agreed to exchange tickets. basically, he left us 4 tix to mass and he left the cardinal some tickets at the yankee stadium press gate for some of his family members. cardinal defransisco could be the next Pope. I think he still gets tickets for his family on occasion.

So God really does like the Yankees???
Anyway, the Pope dying is making my wife very sad, she is devotly(sp?) Catholic. I, on the other hand, am not devotly religious. Still sad, sad news for all of humanity. This Pope ratified the Cathoilc doctorine more than any other and he shall be missed by just more than the Catholics of the world.
Not living my life to see if I get into heaven or hell, just how long I'll have to spend in purgatory.
Its very sad day. I am not sure if media is doing right to cover all this terrible fact in such intensive way, but after all I think its time not to make a secret the pope is human as others.
Everybody went to the church today, even now people are still praying.
Hope is what we have left. I think the Pope would be happy to see how the whole world reacted...happy for fulfilling his mission.
Today united we stand.
Read Dan Brown's ' Demons and Angels' if you wanna know what happens after the Pope passes away.
Its like she's cast a spell....I wish I knew how to break it!!
