CS003 L3D / Erdi Irmak - Symbol / Emptiness (Support by Hernan Cattaneo, Cid Inc,..)

"L3D, Erdi Irmak - Symbol / Emptiness [Crossfade Sounds]" | Find the latest releases here | #1 source for DJ Sets and more

Sound Avenue's new sub label Crossfade Sounds is now officially rolling; their third release is out this week and it features the labels first split EP. Daniele Frino aka L3D has spent the majority of his production career on the Flappers and L3D imprints where his deep techno sound has been pleasing the ears of many; he makes his debut on Crossfade here with 2 brand new original productions entitled 'Symbol' and 'Shape'. Turkish producer Erdi Irmak well known for his recent outings on Bermudos and Stripped is also making his debut on Crossfade here and provides two originals entitled 'Emptiness' and 'Fundamental'.

L3D's 'Symbol' leads the package off with that softly textured hypnotic vibe that is so sought after these days. The hazy backdrop and bubbly textures sound fabulous and as the composition grows they become more pronounced. The main drop presents some additional steel tinged atmospheres which soar as the shuffling drums slowly build anticipation below. The second half continues to focus on the amazing hypnotic aspect of the record and it finishes very smooth. 'Symbol' has already received radio play from Hernan Cattaneo on the 70th Episode of his Delta FM show and it's one of our favourite pieces on the EP. The second original from L3D is entitled 'Shape' and it begins with a deeper, late night vibe. Accented with marvellously textured tones and spacious drums it's a track that's got huge space and breathes exceptionally well. The drop really showcases the tones well and a slow build in intensity and atmosphere throughout the break eventually reveals the dark room groove again with some additional melodic snips that come with a very cool ethereal type vibe. Two very solid originals from L3D, certainly looking forward to hearing more from this talented up and coming producer.

The first of Erdi's tracks is entitled 'Emptiness' and it begins with a wonderfully soft and angelic sounding vibe. A big clap and smooth hypnotic line soon get introduced and the piece begins to pick up momentum. Soft stabs enter the composition during a short transition section and as the drop approaches some subtle electronic hits add to the gyrating momentous swirl. The short break has quite an impactful build for such a deep record and it really works well, the all encompassing atmospheric builds to skyscraper proportions before the whole thing drops out and the aquatically styled hypnotic groove is dropped once more for a smooth finish. The final piece on the package has Erdi presenting some of his studio versatility with a more electronica inspired piece. A much more conservatively paced groove roots the track and a cool electronic hum sets the backdrop. Poignant stabs, well spaced drums, spooky vocal samples and a few quirky melodic leads make up the bulk of the track. An incredibly deep record in terms of how many elements there are here which all work together very well and it's very cool to see Erdi experimenting with a composition like this. Solid release from Crossfade who are just getting started, looking forward to watching the label grow into the monster that Sound Avenue has become.
