    .mp3 question

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can help me out with this question? I want to take a music cd, with 16 aiff tracks, and convert it into one long .mp3 file. How would I go about doing that?

    Thanks,
    Steve

I think EAC has an option to rip as one long .mp3 and .cue

I might be wrong but I think EAC lets you rip to one long wav and cue. But then it's a piece of cake to use lame or some other encoder to change that to MP3. At least I've never seen a configuration setting that lets you rip to one long mp3.

Any mac based programs that will do this? I have gone to mac, and won't ever look back

Basically, I'm trying to take the danny howells gu27 cd, and make one .mp3 file out of the cd, so I can put it on my ipod that way.

            Thanks for the help.

record the cd from an external source and save the new file as mp3

                try iTunes

Select all the tracks and then do "Join CD Tracks" from the Advanced menu...

You can do the whole thing at once in EAC. You just have to tell it where the lame dll file is and tell it to rip it to mp3.

                    ^ ^

Exactly. If Lame is set as your external Encoder program, you can choose in the Menu "Copy Image and generate cuesheet" (name can be different on your side as I use the German version of it) between compressed and uncompressed. Choose compressed and EAC will rip the CD to a MP3 file in the resolution you have set before in the EAC compression settings.

I think Itunes is probably the easiest program to use for joining mp3's.

Doh! And all this time I've just been clicking the icon on the left side and doing it fom the command line. Thanks, that's much easier.
