    01. Kurtz & Bomber - Such A Rush (Work On Me EP) [Bedrock Digital | Beddigi-26]

Having grabbed people’s attention with their debut, beautifully haunting, incredibly infectious, vocalised “Never Sleeping” - the opening track on CD2 of the current, critically acclaimed “Bedrock 14” compilation LP - Kurtz & Bomber return with the even more impressive “Work On Me EP”.

The wealth of artists involved for Bedrock 14 was truly amazing, with the 2012 label compilation capturing the essence of why electronic dance music is such an exciting prospect right now by showcasing amazing underground talent, both established and new. John Digweed’s ability to discover exciting new prospects is unrivalled and Kurtz & Bomber, a collaborative project of Troy Kurtz & Panic Bomber (Richard Haig) from the USA is a perfect example.

Here, Kurtz & Bomber show their immense potential once again, with the strutting tech bounce of “Work On Me”, the superbly lush vocalised “Such A Rush” (bringing back memories of Balearic legends The Beloved at their best) and the heart-warming, euphoric “Forever Forever”.

Once again, Bedrock raises the bar with a new duo that will surely be on many people’s radar from now on. In this day and age to not only survive as an independent label, but also to flourish and constantly evolve by introducing new talent and as well as pushing established artists to their creative best, is something that should be applauded.

    02. Brassica - Lose Him (Temple Fortune EP) [Civil Music | CIV042]

Brassica presents Temple Fortune; a beautiful, bittersweet EP of synth-steeped electronic music and the producer's debut for Civil Music. Incorporating analog synths, vintage drum machines, rave nostalgia, 80's electronic pop, cosmic slow jams, avant-garde electronics and a melancholic crush of Italo, Electro and disco bearing vocals, Brassica's music remembers much - memories that are worth the price of admission alone - but drawing in part on the urban solitude each evokes and coupling with feelings humid and raw, the music of Michael Anthony Wright is able to express so much more, a quiet storm of musical restraint and emotive power. Aligning music with that of greats such as Throbbing Gristle, New Order, Joy Division, Cabaret Voltaire is a daunting prospect; but gazing out of the sensual and emotional 'Temple Fortune' is an artist showing the vision and individuality to place himself among such exquisite talent.

Resonating with ghostly funk, intimate and sagely Temple Fortune is intelligent and immersive. Haunting lead track Modern Magic is equal parts theatrical, romantic and wrenching. Led by a bass line (from a fretless bass guitar) which sees the spectral image of Joy Division's Peter Hook alive and well. The playful/woeful space jam of Lose Him follows, and includes the vocal of long time friend 'Stuart Warwick'. Milieux Metrix includes the hushed voice of Ghostape. Low vibrato cello calls give tension/release to the disorientating ancient meets the modern age theme. The EP closes with the soulful, ghostly rave of Lydden Circuit. The rushing anxeity and dancefloor disquiet have somewhat made an underground hero of Brassica for a quiet generation of lost ravers. (To which the comments on the self made & mesmerizing video appearing almost a year ago on youtube attest.) Add a floor ready acid disco remix from Capracara, & Om Unit's consistently unique take on the footwork sound adding a new dimension to his rework, this is quite a package.

    03. The Rimshooters vs. Snax - Pledge Allegiance (the Rimshooters Acid Dub) [Her Majesty's Ship | HMS005]

Parisian imprint, Her Majesty’s Ship looks to its next release featuring the undeniable talents of Berlin based duo The Rimshooters and the ever-excellent Snax...

The Rimshooters are Massimiliano Pagliara and DJ Rotciv, a pair who have been making waves with their releases on labels such as Slow Motion and Cosmic Club over the past couple of years. The duo first met through a social network site in 2010 and despite a huge geographical distance, Pagliara based in Berlin and Rotciv in Brazil, the pair began making music together. Now just two years on they are both residing in Europe’s electronic music capital, making music that is opening people’s minds.

Snax originally hails from Washington D.C but has wound his musical path via San Francisco and New York to end up in Berlin. He has been behind hits such as ‘$100’, ‘Honeymoon’s Over’ and ‘Get in Trouble’, recorded for numerous leading labels and collaborated and toured with artists such as Jamie Lidell, The Scissor Sisters and Peaches to name just a few.

‘Pledge Allegiance’ came about from a jam session at Pagliara’s studio, emanating first as a melancholy pop tune before being reshaped and reworked into an infectious disco tinged workout. Snax’s vocals and incredible Prophet 5 synth solo fuse seamlessly with the rich production of the Rimshooters and the end result is a track is a stone cold killer!

The original mix is complimented with two alternative versions, the ‘Rimshooters acid dub’ that see the duo break out some Chicago inspired drums and acidic top lines and the ‘Box Office Poison house dub’ that has Snax working under his new house production moniker to deliver a wonderfully spacious and unique sounding mix.

Her Majesty’s Ship is a new label on the scene but following up the recent David Shaw and the Beat album with this stunning single, it’s clear they have got their sites on big things.

    Label : Her Majesty’s Ship
    Distribution : IDOL / LELP / Modulor
    Catalog : HMS005
Release : vinyl* on December 3rd and digital on December 10th

    04. Mooryc - Drive (Mind Against Remix) [Stem Records | STR001]

Mooryc and his Dive EP attracts two deep, tip tripping remixes from Mind Against and Avatism. To be releases on Stem Records 26th Nov.

Mind Against are Alex and Fred, Italian born electronic music artists, producers and DJs. The duo's "Cagliostro' featured on the Some Things (Fall) Pt.1 EP on Life And Death [LAD007A]

    05. Connan Mockasin - Forever Dolphin Love (Erol Alkan’s Extended Rework Version 2) [K7 Records | K7294]

Exclusive version out now on Another 'Bugged Out' & Another 'Bugged In' Selection via K7 Records (September 3rd 2012)

Erol Alkan has had a long association with Bugged Out, DJing at the club on many occasions and crowning their Easter specials with ever-longer sets - 2012’s was nine hours long! He says “I was slightly disenchanted by the way support DJs would play like they were playing Wembley to 10,000 people,” he says. “I wanted to build an evening through the music and be able to be my own support. This way, I bought complete freedom to proceedings, as anyone who came would be aware that I would play across my entire musical spectrum, and it would differ to a usual 2 hour set.”

After his hugely successful Bugged Out DJ mix CD from 2005, he finally collaborates once more with the club to bring us another hot mix / collection of club bangers. Spread over 39 tracks on two CDs or 10 on a double LP, the set features a wide selection of music, with both sides featuring cuts from four decades. House, electro, techno, disco, synthwave, dubstep, indie, rock... It's all here! An impressive effort indeed!

    06. Kemistry - Buzz Parade [Shack Music SM012]

Kemistry rip roar with their debut release on Shack Music and ultimately have come correct with a 2 tracker that is cutting edge and aimed straight at the floor! The A side “Buzz Parade” is a techno monster that just builds and builds with a sublime intro as well as a killer groove and bass-line that flips again well into the track! Don’t take our word for it just check it out! On the flip something of a deep house workout “Land Of July” with its percussive stabs and dreamy bass-line almost Balearic towards the end has found favour with tastemakers in London! Whoop Whoop!

Written, produced and mixed by Soy Mustafa and Alex Celler for Kemistry Productions @ Rhythm Tech Studios.

    07. Henry Saiz - Uncharted (The Cryptozoologist EP) [Bedrock Digital | Beddigi-27]

Cryptozoology, the search for and study of animals whose existence or survival is disputed or unsubstantiated, such as the Loch Ness monster and the yeti, is something that Henry Saiz finds deeply intriguing. His love of exoticism and strange natural/organic sounds (his own label is called Natura Sonoris - which means Nature of Sound) provide the fuel for this latest stunning Bedrock release.

“The Cryptozoologist” has an instantly striking, mysterious Andean / Peruvian melodic influence that harks back to cultures shrouded in the mysteries of time, creating a truly haunting track. “Uncharted” is equally hypnotic and enthralling and yet distinctly different. Henry is using a lot of analogue vintage gear to create his music, which is giving him a very distinct sound, a path that will lead to his hotly awaited debut artist album (due out in April 2013) on which he will delve totally into and explore an analogue world.

Henry's critically acclaimed “Balance 019” album, released in 2011, was the catalyst for his star potential explode around the globe. His superb collaboration with Guy J (“Meridian”) and his solo track (“La Marea”) for the landmark Bedrock 100 release, were of the highest level of quality and his most recent release, “Our Discovery” (Natura Sonoris), became a huge Ibiza hit this summer, with supporters including John Digweed, Sasha, M.A.N.D.Y., Luciano, Visionquest, Danny Howells and many others. Henry Saiz is undoubtedly an extraordinarily talented young producer who is simply too exciting to be ignored!

    08. Lana Del Rey - Blue Velvet (Lindstrøm Remix) [Interscope Records | Promo]

Lana Del Rey‘s cover of Bernie Wayne and Lee Morris classic ‘Blue Velvet’ is turned into a 10 minute exploration in Morodor-esque disco that only Norway’s own remix master Lindstrom could serve up. Lana is hardly present in the remix, her reverb tinged coo’s don’t come in until after the 4 minute mark., but when they do – it’s an all out boozy dance party!

    [Dazed Digital Review]

FIRST LOOK: LANA DEL REY REMIXED BY LINDSTRØM

Oslo multi-instrumentalist and producer Lindstrøm has created a disco epic out of the alluring star's eerie 'Blue Velvet' cover; and we're streaming it exclusively inside

Norwegian electronic producer Lindstrøm, who you might know from his stints with fellow disco fanatic Prins Thomas, has taken on quite a challenge. As his latest remix duty, he was to rework Lana Del Rey's eerie cover of the cult song 'Blue Velvet' (as heard in the H&M campaign) taken from David Lynch's eponymous film. Check out the minimal, disco-tinged remix exclusively here alongside some words from Ms Rey herself about her latest release 'Ride':

"Life isn't always easy but sometimes you're blessed enough to meet your artistic soul mates along the way. After years of staying true to my own artistic visions, I met Anthony Mandler who shared my love of all things dark and beautiful and understood my passion and revery for the country that America used to be. He's helped me to bring the visions of my imagination to life and to tell my different life stories through film. His technique is exquisite and coupled with the inspired editing skills of his long time editor Jeff, his art is always innovative and honest."

    [The Fader Review]

Norwegian disco magician Lindstrom gets his hands on Lana Del Rey’s cover of Bobby Vinton’s weirdo classic “Blue Velvet” and stretches it to infinity. Half of what Lana shows up here for is just purrs, which is what she was born for. She woooore blue velvet/ Mmmmmm, she sings, a wonderful downer foil to Lindstrom’s energy.

    [Headsdown Review]

I’m not going to focus particularly on the original artist here (surprise surprise), or talk about Bernie Wayne’s original or the David Lynch cinematic classic, as I think it’s all a bit beside the point. The star of this performance is definitely the Norwegian Lindstrom, who turns in what can only be described as a production master class of a remix.

This remix is very much from the Moroder school of thought: a slow, sensuous vocal over a fast, repetitive bassline. Rushing, filtering pads, subtly gathering percussion and some beautiful ‘gathering storm’ arrangement moments make this a record that a lot of the more interesting dancefloor DJs are going to return to repeatedly in times of panic. As Brian Fantana once said, “60% of the time, it works every time”… This is a weapon.

    [Stupid Dope Review]

Lana Del Rey has got to be the most remixed artist right now. LindstrØm is the next producer to tackle one of Ms. Del Rey’s hits with this remix of her version of “Blue Velvet” which is featured on the re-release of her smash album Born To Die: The Paradise Edition. LindstrØm’s epic, electronica remix lasts a whopping nine minutes and is slightly reminiscent of the 90’s Sneaker Pimp dance classic “Spin Spin Sugar”, without the heavy bassline.

“Blue Velvet” is of course, not a Lana Del Rey classic. The original, written in the 50’s by Bernie Wayne and Lee Morris, Tony Bennett – first had success with the single in 1951. Nevertheless, it’s definitely a worthy remix. Norwegian producer LindstrØm has pimped this up to the maximum.
