LuckyMe cohort Jacques Greene is considered one of those young producers who’d rather let the music do the talking than get wrapped up in transient fashions and trends. With his releases on LuckyMe and Night Slugs, the Montreal-based producer fused pacey two-step rhythms with breathy synthwork and r&b vocals to create the kind of spangled neon atmospheres that every club worth its salt wants bouncing round the walls. Jacques knows the importance of keeping the dancers on their toes, and with a bunch of surprises up his sleeve, like a live analogue set-up, the launch of his own label, Vase Records, and his Ready 12" on Martyn’s 3024 label, he shows that he’s the kind of producer who’s more than happy to run things at his own pace.
