    01. Kris Menace - Hide feat. Miss Kittin (Alexander Maier Remix) [Compuponic | COMPU23]

Kris Menace teams up with the fabulous Miss Kittin to reveal 'Hide', the launch single taken from his debut vocal album called 'Features’. With mixes from Nhar (Kompakt, Correspondant), Undo (Factor City), Maethelvin (Valerie), Alexander Maier (Mood Music, Buzzin Fly), Pwndtiac (Work It Baby) and a DJ Pierre Beatport exclusive mix.

Great, really great Kris Menace, one of the brightest producers in the current scene, the German expert on synthesizers and music, which this year published one of the best albums of this year, his wonderful ‘Electric Horizon’ in April, and now has a new album on the road, as usual on his own label Compuphonic, 12 new songs, with the news that all are songs with vocal artists invited to sing this great songs, and next to album release, releases the first single taken from it, the song ‘Hide’ which features the vocal collaboration of the great Miss Kittin, and comes in pack of remixes, Undo to start with a magical remix, a spectacular synth-disco remix, great remix; Nhar handles give it a more deep house, with that kind of this producer, and with almost 8 minutes of remix; Alexander Maier remix with more space and breaks, creating a special atmosphere; Maethelvin with shorter remix pack, 3 minutes and 24 seconds, with a space touch and up the BPM, and to close the pack of remixes, Pwndtiac adds a more electro to the track, more for the dance floor. On Beatport, exclusive remix by Dj Pierre remix, with BPM uploaded. Very great this master of Kris Menace.

    Released by: Compuphonic
    Release/catalogue number: Compu23
    Release date: Nov 7, 2012

"The weirdest thing is: Kris and I never met... I can imagine the album being an extension of his reality, an imaginary world where strong values and fantasy come together. His music is solid, incredible production skills, with an Italo disco-ish-French touchy twist... After working on millions versions, Kris turned the song into a superb space disco ballad, more subtle, more beautiful than the original. I am so glad he did that. That's when collaboration is successful, pushing each other forward." - Miss Kittin

Kris' new album, ‘Features', includes thirteen incredible performances from Julian Hamilton (The Presets), the fabulous Miss Kittin, house music legend Robert Owens, Daft Punk collaborator Romanthony, the amazing German soul singer Xavier Naidoo, Chelonis R Jones (known for his work with Royksopp & Booka Shade) and MTV award winner Simon Lord (singer for Justice's ‘We Are Your Friends') to name a few.
"I can promise that no one has ever heard Julian Hamilton from The Presets, Xavier Naidoo or Miss Kittin like this before. Every track on this album is so unique and the range of artists so diverse" - Kris Menace

Kris Menace gatecrashed the scene with ‘Discopolis'. Since then Kris has become one of the most respected producers in electronic music releasing LP projects: ‘Idiosyncrasies' (2009) and ‘Electric Horizon' (2012) under his own name, as Black Van (DFA) and working with many artists on production or remix duty. His remix work includes Depeche Mode, LCD Soundsystem, Metronomy, Aeroplane, Underworld, Booka Shade and Lana Del Rey. Kris's projects have been signed to some of the most influential labels in world, with tracks treasured by the electronic dance community and showcasing his prodigious influence on contemporary electronic music.

Grenoble born Caroline Hervé aka Miss Kittin, has become one of the most inspiring DJs and voices to emerge within the electronic music scene. Alongside her production partner The Hacker (releasing 2 albums), Felix Da Housecat's 'Silver Screen (Shower Scene)', Golden Boy's ‘Rippin Kittin', Sven Väth ‘Je T'aime', she has also released two solo albums. Miss Kittin reliably brings all her gusto, charisma and inspiration to the decks and is rightly placed as one of the most recognisable artists in Dance music.

"I am surprised about the mixture of guests appearing, and how each individual artist had to adapt to Kris' sound. It shows how vocals can change the face of a song. It's magic to hear an instrumental track and discover the voice coming in, the extra emotions building in. It's like an empty house being furnished. If the track is not strong, you can add any vocals, it won't save it. Kris knows it, that's a big reason why we contributed to it." -- Miss Kittin

    02. Nick Höppner - Ipso Facto (Speicher 72) [Kompakt Extra | KOM EX 72]

Starting out in 2001 as a mere compilation series to tie up some loose ends from our regulars, Speicher has since become a guarantee for vanguard dance sounds from all over the planet, allowing Kompakt to invite and support electronic artists that comfortably inhabit both the delicate and the more deliberate ends of the electronic music spectrum. For Speicher 72, both Berlin stalwart Nick Höppne and polyrhythmic mastermind Auntie Flo present essential tracks fitted for maximum floor response.

Ostgut Ton label head and Panorama Bar resident DJ, Nick Höppner is a well-known renaissance man, entrancing dance floors worldwide with impeccable taste and narrative verve. As a DJ and producer, he finds great artistic freedom in the classic four-on-the-floor layout while updating the blueprint with a serious longing for sonic adventure.

'Ipso Facoto' – his Kompakt debut - perfectly showcases a different side to his standard fare, opting to taking a firm grip on the deeper shades of Techno. He balances industrial styles with more groove-inducing flavours and takes a rather restricted sound palette to impressive heights. It's what the tip of the iceberg might sound like, a not-so-subtle hint at a massive body hiding beneath sea level. Brian D'Souza aka Auntie Flo hails from Glasgow, where he honed his craft as purveyor of rhythmic diversity. Influenced by Chicago House, Kwaito, advanced Pop and various Bass hybrids, he draws from an imposing amount of sound sources, but still manages to keep the flow focused and his message clear. On the heels of his debut full length on Huntley & Palmers which Resident Advisor proclaimed as "dance floor dynamite 4/5", Sun Ritual is a particularly fine example of Brian's magic, shaking and rattling incessantly while making its way to the centre of attention, an ever-rising hike to the top of the mountain dipped in light.

    [RA Review]

Remember Kompakt Extra? Once a deluge of choice DJ material—the Cologne powerhouse's floor-ready sub-label released 13 Speicher 12-inches at their peak in 2007—its output has slowed to an unsteady trickle. And with releases mostly coming from German techno artists or within the Kompakt extended family, Extra has admittedly been short of "wow factor" recently. So on paper, a split release from Ostgut Ton's Nick Höppner and Glaswegian party-starter Auntie Flo, is exactly the sort of intriguing (if not double-take-inducing) lineup Extra could use right now.

And while the resultant Speicher 72 doesn't contain either artist's most distinctive tracks, they're a breath of fresh air nevertheless. Höppner's "Ipso Facto" has a hit of Kompakt impresario Wolfgang Voigt coursing through its veins, with Gas-style murk flowing up like muddy floodwater through otherwise squeaky-clean sound design. Auntie Flo opens "Sun Ritual" with a quasi-melodic drum break that wouldn't sound out of place on an old Villalobos remix. But as mallets begin tapping out a simple melody, Flo starts to settle into the shuffling sound he's known for, even if (like Höppner) he's let a cool forest breeze temper his usually sweat-stimulating sound.

    03. Hanfry Martinez - Disco 90 (Distraction Way EP) [La Vie En Rose | LVR06]

The La Vie En Rose imprint continues to mark itself out as a label to watch, this time with rising star Hanfry Martinez and the 'Distraction Way EP' featuring a collaboration with head honcho Terence :Terry and a huge remix from the irrepressible Dyed Soundorom.

Hailing from the Canary Islands, Hanfry Martinez has been setting the European underground scene alight with a string of excellent productions paving the way for him to play in some of the worlds finest clubs. His label Overall Music, which he runs with partner in crime Javier Carballo has also been going from strength to strength with releases from Maya Jane Coles and Subb-Ann to name a few.

Martinez' 'Disco 90' squelches into the atmosphere with an acid synth line evolving around a shuffling percussive groove. Various musical elements and extra-terrestrial sounds are layered expertly as the track builds to a hypnotic climax. This one is guaranteed to be in the bag of many a tastemaker in the coming months and will certainly be causing a stir on the dance-floor.

Up next Martinez is joined by Terence :Terry for 'Sunday Gathering' which rattles in with echoed rims and claves providing the initial groove before a slick bass-line takes centre stage. Bubbling percussive elements continue to grow in and around the mix acting in a call and response fashion with the hypnotic spoken vocal. Dyed Soundorom then steps up to give his interpretation of 'Sunday Gathering' and brings his usual blend of sexiness to the party. Detuned chops of the original vocal lead the way with sultry melodies riding above an irresistible bass-line. To sweeten the digital deal Martinez contributes a second offering entitled 'Hanfry Scan' - a bumpin' Chicago house track propelled into the future with eerily arpeggiated synths displaying once again the producers innate ability to construct intricate layers of melody with dramatic effect.

    04. Matthias Vogt - Copying The Future (DJ Le Roi Remix) [Polytone | PLTR008]

Last year Matthias Vogt's Copying The Future EP did mark a highlight in Polytone's label catalogue. Vogt's original tracks both merging reduced house and techno, using timeless and classic sounds. Chartings and club plays by the likes of El_Txef_A, Jimpster, Hunter/Game... Tale Of Us signed "Copying The Future" for their upcoming mixcompilation on Rennaissance.??And now here's the remixes.

    05. Friendly Fires - Why Don't You Answer? (Hot Since 82 Dub) [All Night Tales | ALND1230]

Late Night Tales reaches the big 3 0, and what a way to celebrate, with a landmark edition from the effervescent Friendly Fires, featuring a Friendly Fires exclusive cover version of the 1978 electronic classic Why Don't You Answer by Eberhard Schoener and Sting. For this single release London based Jay Shepheard and Leeds rising star Hot Since 82 lend a hand to deliver stellar remixes with dub alternatives. the original version has already gained support from Radio 1 djs Annie Mac and Zane Lowe.

    06. Lana Del Rey - Blue Velvet (Penguin Prison Remix) [Parlophone | Promo]

Hot on the heels of the gorgeous original version of Lana Del Rey‘s “Blue Velvet” comes the Penguin Prison remix. With an injection of some heavy beats and sexy synths this one’s a winner!

    [popjustice.com]

As you will no doubt be well aware, Lana Del Rey's H&M ad aired overnight. It features Lana singing 'Blue Velvet' in a sort of pretend David Lynch-type scenario.

Your first thought, presumably, is 'where the bloody hell was the Log Lady?'. You might also be thinking to yourself, 'what this really needs is for Penguin Prison to turn up with a bag of spanners and give this song a good going over in a winningly relaxed but still pulsating electrodisco style'.

Well we can't help with the whereabouts of the Log Lady but we can help with the Penguin Prison remix which, as you are about to hear, is pretty special. It could do with a bit more vocal in it but we've been saying this about 78% of all remixes for years and nobody listens so OH WELL.

    Label // Polydor
Released // We think this is just a promo thing but don't be surprised if it turns up somewhere or other

    07. Monty Luke - Bomb On Bomb (Gerd Remix) [Full Flavour Music | FF 017]

Detroits Monty Luke brought Full Flavor Music the highly anticipated "Bomb On Bomb" EP which dropped in the summer of 2012. Other than being Carl Craig's right hand man at Planet E Communications, Monty Luke has been letting loose chart topping EP's one right after another all year long. Planet E, KMS, Mothership, Get Physical, and Monty's own Black Catalogue are amongst the labels he has been busy releasing with. Full Flavor Music is happy to be getting out the highly anticipated remixes to "Bomb On Bomb" by H Foundation and Gerd.

Making a massive in-demand comeback, as well as being signed back on Soma Records for 2013, the ever popular duo of Hippe and Halo aka H Foundation gives Monty's "In Love With A Dancer" a deep and techy driving rework. The Chords stand out in this one driving properly along with the groove while the smooth vocal samples pop in and out during the breaks.
There is also an H Foundation tool included that is different than the remix being stripped down to a tracky percussion loop along with the vocal providing the remixing DJ the ability to add his own beats and edits on the fly. Very cool indeed!

Rotterdam Netherlands/4lux Recordings label owner Gerd remixed "Bomb On Bomb" giving it supreme justice with two blazing mixes. Recently remixing Marc Romboy, Mateo & Matos and Deetron Gerd is on fire right now with his production skills. He happily delivered with his NY Stomp mix of "Bomb On Bomb" making some use of the original ingredients with more of a NY house feel similar to a Kerri Chandler vibe.

Gerds other mix of "Bomb On Bomb" has all the music completely re-written using a very modern minimalistic approach while making use of the original vocals giving the track its minimal but funky feel. This remix package is by far as exciting as the originals and anticipated to do just as well! Vinyl will be released first dropping on Nov 19th.

    08. Sebastian Radlmeier - Is It Me or Is It You (Carlo Lio Remix) [Ideal Audio | ideal24-6]

Back in February of this year Sebastian Radlmeier made his production debut, remixing Rodriguez Jr's 'Bitterweet' on Mobilee. However, was this really a first or had we heard those honed tech beats before?

Sebastian Radlmeier, owner of the Paso Music imprint, is also better known for his work as, Sebrok. A Host of key releases and a successful artist album, 'The Pain', placed him firmly on the Techno map and with a trio of strong ep's for Ideal Audio, the Berlin native is now a key member of our family. Today he returns to the home of Huntemann, discarding the mask and unveiling his latest work as Sebastian Radlmeier, backed by a blistering remix from the inform Canadian producer, Carlo Lio.

Fans of Sebastian's previous alter ago fear not. 'Is It You Or Is It Me?' is a trademark tech gem. Its enticingly deep and hypnotic groove works to perfection as the vocal tells the secret of this techno love letter. On the remix is fellow tech-titan, Carlo Lio. Without doubt one of the most in demand DJ/producers of the moment, the Toronto native has enjoyed a golden year to date. Fresh from a hectic summer season and coming off the back of releases and remixes for Soma, SCI+TEC and Intec, the Rawthentic boss twists and chops the vocal whilst adding a extra bite to the beats and groove, creating a heavy rework that is set to dominate the winter's floors.

    Released by: Ideal Audio
    Release/catalogue number: ideal24-6
    Release date: Nov 22, 2012

    09. Maceo Plex - Stimulation [Ellum Audio | ELL009]

The unstoppable force that is Maceo Plex is back on board his own Ellum Audio imprint after his huge collaboration with Jon Da Silva took the world by storm and proved to be one of the biggest tracks of the year. Never failing to deliver, the 'Space Junk EP' is another slice of dance floor magic, Maceo Plex style.

First up 'Filthy Mama' demonstrates Maceo's undeniable talent and signature sound with seductive grooves and deep, grumbling undertones. This solid house hit is tinted with disco flare yet embodies that funky, modern and hypnotic house the producer is so well known for with on point vocals that make it stand apart. There's no question that the producer has studio masterstrokes to spare, acutely aware of what works the floor.

Over on the B-side 'Stimulation' takes a deeper and harder turn for the late night ravers. Still noticeably a Maceo track, it adopts a big room driving sound with a thumping bass followed with intricate pacey percussions. Siren haunts fall into the vortex of sonic sounds, echoing and all encompassing for that dance floor effect, with warm synths flowing through the beautiful yet eerie layers.

Not many artists have the ability to envision a fresh sound and make such a signature stamp on modern dance music. Eric Estonel aka Maceo Plex has done just that, not only under his Maceo Plex moniker but also as Maetrik so it's no surprise he's been dominating the global scene. Now settled in Barcelona, Maceo balances a hectic touring schedule with plenty of studio time, prolific output released via heavyweight labels such as Leftroom, Crosstown Rebels, No.19, Watergate and Defected.Naturally, Ellum Audio is also becoming home to some classic Maceo Plex and the 'Space Junk EP' is no exception.
