Wow, well it's been over 2 decades. Long time coming I guess! -

Amy from headrushmusic posted a couple of very interesting articles in the 'How was WMC' thread. Give them a read, part of it discusses the rehashing of 80s pop songs.A good shower head and my right hand - the two best lovers that I ever had.Comment

And I must say the same about playing Kevin Saunderson?s "Good Life". Now, this track I loved since day 1, but once again, is house music really so stale that Deep Dish needed to play this for such a short set?Comment

i liked both the tracks ..the good life mix is really good.. the pump up the jam mix is a feel good track IMO ... at space ali dropped a massive soft cell remix, cant recall the name of the original, but the track was pounding..
there are good and bad remixes, then there are djs that only play remixes..
the conference was dominated by acid and electro clash, some electro also .. not big into any of those genres. back in the day i used to live acid house (89-91) but it sounded a lot diferent back then (acid/hip house)
BTW in 1990 i saw technotronic in concert ...maybe thats why i like that song so much
Electroclash is a contemporary music genre that fuses new wave, punk, & electronic dance music. The movement combines this 1980s sound (using synthesizers, drum machines, etc) with visuals from the post-1970s Westwood & Warhol fashion/art scenes. It mainly developed in the mid to late 1990s in New York City and Detroit.Comment

Yeah, people in Portugal are going pretty crazy over this "Electroclash" stuff. I?m not going to diss the whole acid/electro sound, because I do like some of it.
I mean, Zabiela?s "Robophobia" is brilliant, that?s the acid/electro stuff done right.
But when I see people saying that that?s the future of House music, I think it?s sad. I mean, like Jenks said in another topic, is the 303 the only synth accepted in Dance music?
If people lack imagination, they at least have new technology that can help them do different stuff, create new sounds, whatever...
I don?t know...feels like a cop-out to me...
And believe me, I love 80?s music...Comment

Bring it the fuck on i say. My early years of clubbing were in the mis 80`s so these remixes that keep coming out really strike a cord with me. I saw Morillo last year at a club in Liverpool, he played HUMAN LEAGUE ? Dont You Want Me the original mix, man the place went ballistic and i shot my load.
Yeh man, bring it on.Comment

Re: was this years WMC a regugitation of the 80s?
one song that stands out out of all the 80's madness ..was a song that had the synth of that 1987-88 desiderio latino song that was later remixed by nightclub and was called french kiss..
well anyway roger sanchez played it and so did sander... i think i like the remixes best when they have little hints of the original, thats when it really brings you back because you're not expecting itComment

10 years ago I kept listening to people my age saying "oh, those fuckin? baby boomers they keep rehashing that 60?s and 70?s crap, why do we have to put up with this?" And here we are falling in the same exact trap...
In conclusion, I?m all for 80?s stuff, but to say that the future of House is in recycling the same fuckin? sounds, synths and melodies is just sad.
I think House music needs a huge jolt of something new...I don?t know where it?s going to come from, but I sure hope it?s not the 303 again...Comment

Yeah, I guess so.
I?ll give you this though : if I had actually gone to WMC, and was out of my skull from all the boozin?, I?d probably be pretty happy to hear those 80?s remixes. So I guess I just have to dismiss it as party music.Comment

It's weird because I didn't like a lot of that stuff back then, but now when I hear a Morrisey/Depeche Mode type sample in a track I instantly love it.Beats are my crack.Comment
