Re: Passport needed for U.S. borders

when i was in mexico last month we had to lie and say we were american to get back acorss the border in time to catch ongoing flight from el paso :? now i sound nothing close to american and he asked em plenty of questions about where i was from and what i was doin in mexico but the dumbass never asked me for ID and bought it! even got the dogs through the car.... could not fucking believe it! all the crazy shit at airports and you can still wander aross from mexico without any form of ID so long as you're white

glad though cos i'd have been well fucked if i'd had to join to join the queue of mexicans to get acorss... no chance of getting the flight.... not to mention what they would've done if they'd found out i was pretending to be american....

By 2008 passports will cost you about $400 once the government sees how much money can be made!

Re: Passport needed for U.S. borders

Just applied for my passport so that I can go to Europe this summer - $97 later. I had to make 3 trips to the post office which is 45 mins away (it's the only one without a 2 month backlog of appointments). First time I didn't have the correct birth certificate (i.e. the one that is from the DHHS). Had to order another from the State of Maryland and wait for 2 weeks for it to arrive. Got it and then had to make another appointment (3 week backlog at this particular location) for this morning at 930am.

Got there and waited for 10 mins before the woman told me that I couldn't pay with a credit card. I pointed out on the back of the application where it says that Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover are all accepted and she told me, "Sorry, but you need to write a check." I don't carry my checkbook on me so I had to drive back home to get it. Before leaving I asked her, "Can you squeeze me in later if I come back?" To which she unsympathetically replied, "I'm not feeling well so I'm leaving early today." Needless to say I was furious. I think she must've noticed the fire in my eyes and then proceeded to tell me that I could come back at 11am. I told her I was in class at that time and wouldn't get out until 1145 and the earliest I could be back would be 1230. She said she had a 1230 and a 1245 and that I would probably have to wait.

I get out of class and speed (F1 style) back to the post office, get in line and the guy tells me that the lady doing passports just left for lunch. My head dropped and then he said he would check to make sure. Thankfully, she came walking out behind him and I got everything taken care of. London, Paris, Rome, and Venice better be the nicest fucking places on the face of the earth or I'm jumping off of the Eiffel Tower.

Have fun man. I don't think I'll be flying out of country again for a while... there's still quite a bit that I want to see/do here in the States before dropping a grand on a plane ticket for Europe

Thankfully the honeymoon is a wedding present from her parents. The price of the coach ticket is ~ $1400/each. We looked into upgrading to Business Class - we'd have to drop another 4 G's/each to make it happen! Thankfully my girl has about a billion frequent flyer miles and cashed some of them in to upgrade us.

                              frequent flyer miles rule.

just cashed in a bunch for a weekend jaunt to LA for me and the girlfriend for my birthday.

gotta love free plane tickets (minus the $15 processing fee.)

still, $15 for roundtrip tickets for two to LA...can't beat it.

A week before my coworkers and I departed for Europe, we found a deal on the airline's website that would have given us 50,000 free frequent flier miles if our flight was business class. We decided that many extra frequent flier miles would be worth the extra cash to upgrade, and called to check on prices... was told that it would be $7k PER TICKET to upgrade each to business class.
