                    Release Notes:

                    01. Hegrustin – Rising Of The Sun (Asten Remix) [Silk Textures | SILKTX033]

Silk Textures proudly welcome Hegrustin, an artist from Silk's birthplace of Moscow, Russia. His debut contribution to the imprint, "Rising Of The Sun," is a sensual deep house cut, which begins with a subby, cavernous bass progression, as well as flute-tinged lead. Both themes carry the song to its conclusion; yet, while the sun 'rises,' many other emotive atmospheric effects punctuate the tune, including a heavenly vocal sample (in the main break), distant saxophone stabs, and hollow, bell-like sounds, which evoke the sensation of diving deep into an underwater cave.

Irish artist Shane Robinson has been a busy man of late, with standout remixes on many of Silk Textures recent releases. His offering here infuses a bit of additional rhythmic energy, as well as accentuates some of the more evocative atmospheric sounds. The "escapist" main break, which has been extended here, and the dancefloor-friendly drop stand out as the most intriguing new elements.

Finally, veteran contributor Asten slows things down with a truly outer-worldly, almost surrealist take on the original. Traces of the original are manifest in the gurgling bass, but, otherwise, this new rendering is more of a "rework," with a variety of off-kilter melodic and rhythmic effects. Perhaps the most striking sound design element is a haunting, yet beautiful combination of bell-like sounds, which appear periodically throughout the tune.

                    02. Dilby - Let Me Chant (Original Live Mix) [Mindwarp Records | MW18]

Founded in the South End neighbourhood of Boston circa 1993 Midwarp Records is still keeping it melodically deep, dark and dirty in sunny Orlando Florida.

New Zealand born, Berlin based, Dilby [Beef Records | Baroque Records | Soulman Music] lives and breathes house music. This EP features remixes from Mindwarp boss John Debo and Chris Fortier.

                    03. Juan Deminicis - Past [unreleased]

Juan Deminicis was last seen on resident 067 with a dark brooding Argentinian collaboration involving Dark Soul Project & Santiago Garcia, as well as provided his classy unofficial remix of UNKLE's Heaven on Resident 038.

The BA producer has officially remixed Home Video, Cid Inc, Daniel Mehes, Fady Ferraye, Nicholas van Orton, OMB, Count Sinca and release tracks on the most respected labels like Global Underground, Armada, Replug, Flow Vinyl, Baroque, Stripped, Avangardia among others.

In the 2010, Juan get the ş1st place at the Remix Contest of the best producer of Progressive House for his take on Cid Inc "Filaments". At present, Juan is working on studio with his friend and partner Pablo Acenso and also playing as a duo.

                    04. Lamb - She Walks (WayWork & Cris Xalambri Rework) [Strata Music | unreleased]

Lamb is an electronic music duo formed in Manchester in 1996 by Andy Barlow (music) and Louise Rhodes (vocals). Their musical style is a distinctive mix of trip-hop, jazz, dub, breaks and drum and bass. Lou's eerie haunting vocals complement Andy's hard beats and crisp production.

The duo split in 2004 but reformed in 2009 to play selected festivals and international concerts. In May 2011, Lamb released its fifth studio album, '5' which featured 'She Walks'.

This unofficial rework from Argentina's WayWork & Cris Xalambri is available as a free download.

                    05. Ian Pooley - CompuRhythm (Baîkal Remix) [Innervisions | IV40]

Three perfectly shaped but diverse versions of Ian Pooley's "CompuRhythm" released on Innervisions. Ian Pooley's original works out a slow trippy groove. Dixon's 4/4 Treatment smoothly directs the main theme to the peak time, while the heavy laden epic Baikal Mix contributes a warm, shakin' swing.

                    [FluxMusic Review]

It is with a certain weight of expectation that I begin to listen to any new Innervisions release. The Berlin-based label, founded by Dixon and Ame in 2005, has forged a reputation for quality which operates on an entirely separate plane to the boom and bust musical fads that bubble on the surface of the European scene. Often transcending genre, and always ambitious in scope, their back catalogue demonstrates a rare understanding of how subtle production and use of melody can drive powerful emotions, both at home and on the dance-floor. It is with some relief, though certainly no surprise, that I have found Ian Pooley’s latest offering, ‘CompuRhythm’, to possess these qualities in abundance.

Of course, this is not all about Innervisions. Ian Pooley, hailing from Mainz, near Frankfurt, has a big reputation all of his own, playing no small part popularising the funkier sounds of US-heritage house in his native Germany. This release (his Innervisions debut) shows Pooley at his most thoughtful. The title track accumulates its layers slowly, opening with gentle string pulses and the deep hum of bass that creates a sense of warmth that permeates through the rest of the track. As the snare begins to clap, the strings become more metallic, the surges and oscillations intensify and momentum begins to gather. There is a lot going on and it never quite sits still. You can get lost in any one of its sounds and disappear for while, and that is the beauty of it. A track like this can be deployed at any time and in any setting and it will have its effect, and that is pure Innervisions.

As if to make sure of the records widespread utility, Dixon adds a weighty kick and some shuffling rim hits to his version to reinforce its suitability for a club setting. He also adds an extra layer to Pooley’s original, with cascading chimes pouring over the top of the other chords, further disorientating us as we slip into Pooley’s trance. The breakdown at halfway places further emphasis on the powerful reverberating bass, and provides a useful tool to work any crowd into a frenzy.

Relative newbie Baikal showed he knows how to take things deep in his debut release on Maeve earlier this year, and his more radical interpretation of Pooley’s original firmly reiterates his talents. The static thrumming of the strings is altogether more displaced, distant and threatening. While the percussion is still crisp and drives at your back, the warmth of Pooley’s original seems sub-aqueous, and indeed it is hard not to drown in its depth. This is occasionally punctuated by firing arpeggios and a more mobile bass-line, but the whole effect is more to put you off balance than it is to subdue you. It’s a wonderful interpretation, and one which I am sure could do magical things in the small hours. It certainly adds a new and valuable dimension to the release as a whole.

Despite the quality of the remixes on display (and we certainly look forward to seeing more from Baikal in the future), full credit must go to Pooley for the pure creative scope demonstrated in his original composition. As for Innervisions, they continue onwards and inexorably upwards, and this surely only strengthens their claim as one the world’s most respected record labels.

                    06. Markus Homm - City Tax [8Bit Records | 8bit061]

8bit welcomes Markus Homm! Already known from his releases on Brise, Higrade and Bondage music, Markus Homm is known for his deep groovy Housesound. Finally he comes out with this wondeful 4 tracker showing once again how to move the crowd.

Support by: Magda. Loco Dice, Barem, Steve Lawler, Karotte, 2000 and one, Pete Tong, Nekes, Gregor Tresher, Gorge, Nick Curly, Dub foundation, Steffen Deux, Affkt.

                    07. Dosem - From The Edge [Tronic | TR095]

Dosem touches down on Tronic with two juicy slices of otherworldly sounds, emphasising on his trademarked atmospherics and classy groove.

"A Modern Ritual" sets the tone with its lazy percussion and funked-out bass-line before stepping things back with an almost balearic breakdown. The torch is then passed to "From The Edge" where drums from the attic and obscure samples are combined with a shuffling mega-groove in order to pump out a jacking, haunting maelstrom with classy chords leading the way.

                    08. Deltano - Survival Instinct (Nicolas Masseyeff Remix) (Tribe EP) [Suara | SUARA067]

Hermanez & Deltano are very good friends, both are raised in Belgium and have a very similar music taste (they love deep and driving techno). They have worked together many times and now have landed in Suara for releasing an EP with us.

We got their two demos at the same time so we thought we should release it together. Percussive tribal grooves, mental and trippy beats, "Yata" & "Survival Instinct" are two journeys thru the very talented musical mind of two great producers.

Santos & Nicolas Masseyeff are the remixers and both keep the same way of the originals: the trip. Classy reinterpretations for a super quality release.

                    Release/catalogue number: suara067

                    09. Alan Fitzpatrick - Skeksis [Drumcode | DC102]

There can be little doubt as to the influence Alan Fitzpatrick has had on the current Drumcode sound. A consistent provider of musically inventive techno that takes its inspiration from a wide palette of influences; Fitzpatrick tracks are immediately recognizable for their refusal to conform to the norm. This latest release, the subject of much hype and anticipation, is no different.

Lead track, ‘Skeksis’ conjures up an unlikely fusion of a pumped-up dub techno groove and a 90’s Trance vocal to create a slow-burning, emotive bomb, while ‘For An Endless Night’ rolls out a steady driving rhythm that provides the backdrop for a distinctive chiming melody to sweep in and take over.

                    10. Robert Clouth - Bubble Steam (Microtrauma Remix) (Cloud Complex EP) [Traum Schallplatten | TraumV157]

Microtrauma’s remix of "Bubble Chamber" which they have converted into a dance floor hymn, quite straight to the point but adding their special feel to it.

The newest signing on Traum is English artist Rob Clouth. Rob has created a stir with artistic thinking people through his activity on the internet and has released a few releases under his alias. Expect the music to be something mind-blowing on Traum since it is the first time Rob has involved himself in creating more techno flavoured tracks! Rob, one can say, is an artists who grows with the challenges and enjoys the broadening of ideas which has benefited all his projects so far.

Combining the macro details with some of the micro details he is better known for has made this release what it is: an explosive highly imaginable and emotional affair. Born in Abergavenny, a smallish town in South Wales now living in Bristol, artist Rob Clouth is the mastermind behind Vaetxh, Dr:kid and if you have come across his masterfully crafted short pieces of electronica, you will be surprised what his new trax will be like.

We can only here say as much as that they connect musically perfectly well with what the label has released from Max Cooper and Dominik Eulberg (who are both fans of him) but Rob’s music is still much more on the abstract electronic side of things which is great!

Robert is interested in various forms of creative programming and brings together sound design and production in an unheard formula. For example he works with sound painting – sculpting sounds from the ground up by painting their spectrums using a digitizer as well as using a tool for sequencing fractal-structured tracks with infinite zoom.

His Zoom H2 recorder and Mic collections mark an essential part of his recording toolbox. His mic has become his camera which he keeps in his bag, just in case there’s some sound that he wants. He uses alternative mics – some deep-ear binaural mics, some waterproofed contact mics (double up as hydrophones) and a coil mic that picks up the electromagnetic fields of electronics, a sound field mic that captures ambisonic recordings, for post-rec panning with head-tracking experiments. On the software side he uses Max and now for some time Synthmaker.

Rob belongs to the new school of British musicians who build their own devices to make music and are often influenced by artists such as Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Clark etc etc.
Rob’s new tracks for Traum show a great deal of appreciation for detail... using extreme shapes of sounds which are highly emotional. Even if some textures seem to be really complex and thought out... his music is rather an electronic language then anything else and encompassing moments of naivety and direct emotion which makes his music so organic.
