The kid had no sense, that's how. Asperger's sufferers lack empathy. They don't know or understand right from wrong. This kid lived in the basement where the guns were located and the walls were covered in war memorabilia.

gotta disagree with you there Florida. Its unlikely IF this guy had an Autism Spectrum Disorder, that it would of caused this level of violence. People on the spectrum very rarely conduct planned violence and very unlikely they use weapons (any aggression is likely to be very short due to frustration). Its far more likely that a psychotic disorder was at the root of this. Someone who has lost touch with what is real.

Doesn't Asperger's Syndrome simply mean that a person suffering from it doesn't pick up on social cues as easily as the rest of the us, which in essence makes them less easy to get alongwith because of the absurdity of their behavior? If true, I can't imagine it being so drastic so want to go on a mass-murdering spree. These people still have the ability to judge right from wrong, they just don't know the communicative / interactive boundaries as well as the rest of us.

John this statement is so wrong and I pray that people don't start buying into this bullshit. My son has asperger's and if anyhting feels empathy to an extreme. As a new father I pray that you and your family don't have to endure what we have been thru. These kids need help and the chance to succeed, not to be stereotyped and judged. This is my son Brady who was diagnosed with severe autism @ 18months old. We were told he may never speak, or function in society, and could possibly have to live in a home. After intensive therapy and services he now is working on grade level and has many friends and excels in sports. I could write pages on here about how much he and his journey has taught us but am so disgusted by your statement that will have to come in time.

I would add that we were fortunate. My son had services 5days a week, 3 times a day from the age of 18months till 3. Then attended a special preschool where he received the same types of services. None of this cost my family a dime. A major issue is that in lots of areas in the usa parents get the same diagnosis and have to go on a waiting list to receive these services or pay out of pocket wich will cost a fortune. Imagine having someone give you this news and you have to watch your child struggle because you can't afford it. the most important thing is to catch it early and intensive therapy. The rates of kids being diagnosed is rapidly increasing and our country and healthcare field needs to do something about it imo.

I know it wasn't your intent John. So many strides have been made I'm just scared it will go backwards. With the right tools at their disposal so many kids on the autism spectrum have come so far. I just wish they all had the same opportunity.
