Deep Dish Vs. Sasha in nyc, last weekend

Now before anyone jumps down my throat, I don't mean a DJ battle, but rather, that Sasha played at Crobar on Friday, and then Deep Dish played at Crobar on Saturday. It was a great chance to compare apples and oranges, with all else being equal (club/sound system/prices).

Suffice to say, I've been sleeping the last 48 hours post Deep Dish. :?

    My take on the weekend:

Sasha: Always great to hear him play, and always plays some trippy shit. I was getting mega bored though by the last hour or so. THE CROWD SUCKED. Everybody was there to just get fucked up. Lots of meat heads and shiny shirt people.

Deep Dish: People have always accused Ali and Shiram as being crowd pleasers, but you know what? It made for a great party. The crowd was there to hear Deep Dish, and to dance their asses off. They consistently hit some amazing trax... and it sure was fun to watch Ali take shots while executing flawless mixes. ;-)

Oh yeah, and the hot woman count at Deep Dish was absolutely astronomical. There was one point where I was dancing in front of the DJ booth, and there were at least 10 or so good looking girls all around, just dancing with friends.

Mmmmm.... I love Deep Dish pizza....

Didn't make it to Deep Dish but did attend Sasha.

I thought he played a great set. He got real into fucking with the live mixes which I thought was not overdone but just right. He played a lot of tracks from Involver which sounded great on that sound system. Different type of set from what I'm used too, more hard then dark.

The club's staff were great. The sound was great. The club itself sucks. It's not set up for dancing. The dance floor is too small for those types of nights. The lighting guy was fucking horrible! Way too many strobes and didn't even come close to get what Sasha was doing. As for the people, it seems every club in NYC the people are fucked up. It was the same way at Twilo, The Tunnel and Limelight.

It seems Sasha is pretty comfortable with the NYC crowd and tries different shit. I saw him the next night in Baltimore and he played a great set but no where near the NYC set.

    Great weekend none the less!
i really wish the floor would stop moving!

I didn't make it for Sasha, just being it would be one expensive weekend. So of course, I choose Deep Dish being there my favorites. Deep Dish did play some great tracks and it was good to see Ali man the decks after Sharam, which is something you don't usually see. They played alot of bangin' tracks, but the only problem I had with their set is they played too many buildups that took too long. But overall, I say they played a good set, nothing great though. But as Zen said...I still love DD pizza.

I was there at NYC also on Friday and I have to agree that the crowd totally sucked. Where were all the good looking woman at. They weren't at the Crobar that evening. I'd have to say it was one of the most messed up crowds I've ever seen, and I'm from Baltimore.

Sasha played a hell of a set which made up for it though.

zen, you're way too biased to be judging this one...

and Sasha spun one hell of a set, best in NYC in years!

when sasha played at cream (uk) recently about 90% of the crowd were men, and nearly everyone was messed up

Ive been there, have seen both of them....and my thought is Sasha is so amaizing only at the first time...that was my second one and he didnt impress me as much as at Avalon on NYE.....

Deep Dish....they did what i expected. Unblelivable night. Liked it much more then friday with Sasha, I might say I was impressed more with Luke Fair performance on friday. He played some sick shit
Its like she's cast a spell....I wish I knew how to break it!!
