For the past two years, we have been playing almost every production by Matthew Dekay & Lee Burridge. Now we're very happy to welcome both of them on Innervisions IV38. "Lost In A Moment" is a track that has given us goosebumps when playing it out in the clubs. A Dixon Mix on the flipside takes a different approach and shows that the summer season is just around the corner.

[RA Review]
Matthew Dekay and Lee Burridge's previous collab, February's Für Die Liebe, saw the duo place floating choirs and strings onto a crunchy tech house beat. Their newest 12-inch, Lost in a Moment, follows an identical format, pinning ethereal melodies to a clave-led rhythm section. It's an aesthetic clearly derived from Burridge's year-old label and party brand, All Day I Dream. Banking on sunshine, the outdoor parties aim for "music [which] makes you smile and melt a little."
And that's an apt description of "Lost in a Moment," whose gaseous chord spirals rival the beauty of its predecessor. They may even surpass it, in fact. It's easy to see why dance floors have been lapping up the blissful piece. But are they dancing to it, or just going weak at the knees? The beat isn't overly dynamic, more so tasked with keeping time than accentuating. On the flip, Dixon's remix better fulfils this need, fleshing out the percussion to a meatier, more varied thud, and slicing one of the duo's melodies into a rhythmic, arpeggiated twang. As a result, his version lopes rhythmically along, yet sacrifices few of the elated moments that no doubt gave Lost in a Moment its title.

Black Catalogue. We came from the future to get down. Owned and operated by DJ/Producer Monty Luke. The label is a forum for underground music from around the globe. And beyond.This first release is Montys Tomorrow EP and gives an eclectic glimpse into what Black Catalogue is about. Yesterday & Today is a Detroit dancefloor record that takes a filtered disco hook into a future direction. Tomorrow, is a sub-bass driven snapshot one of Detroits possible futures. Deep and abstract, but ultimately stark, funky, dystopic.
Luke knows a thing or two about how to run a label: he's currently the manager for Planet E, Carl Craig's quintessential Detroit imprint. Originally from California's Bay Area, he made his debut with a local outfit: Mothership, a subsidiary of Claude VonStroke's Dirtybird Records. Not long after moving to Detroit, he took the reins at Planet E and put out his first single on the label, Art, Love & War, complete with a remix from Craig himself. Black Catalogue will launch with Tomorrow EP, Luke's third solo effort and his first release in two years. (Res.Advisor)

Whomadewhos Brighter is a famously tight marvel of an album, brimming with heroic pop moments and poignant grooves for any club potato to savour. One of the very best tracks and a personal favourite of many a Kompakt staff member is undoubtably Running Man. It is no wonder then that we could gather a quite impressive collection of remixes, including a sweaty rework by French edit wizard Pilooski and a heavily bouncing mix by Catz 'n Dogz and Martin Dawson (of King Roc fame).
More dance-floor extravaganza comes from notorious Dave DK, whose prolific work ethic might very well mark him as the original running man, and WhoMadeWhos Tomas Barfod: the drummer once more shows his striking skill-set when it comes to the analysis of a hook-line, making his expertly sequenced arrangement a true monster of a club anthem.
Together with the original version of Running Man, we also included the radio edit of The Sun... because thats how good it is. Originally hatched in Montreal, but currently based in London, DJ's Anstascia and Vivie-Ann have established their musical blueprint by proving that they don't fit the quintessential stereotype they're toying around with.
In the last few years, Blond:ish has carved out its unique production recipe which focuses on the art of creating music that is organic and multi-dimensional. Provocative bass-lines contrasted with smooth textures and sticky vocals blend into a genre of house that rebels against being pigeonholed to any specific category. Now, fuelled by the duo's sharp taste-maker instincts and technical flair, they've not only charmed the industry masses but are set to release on the most notable labels around, including their psychedelic influenced 'Lovers In Limbo' EP out on Kompakt mid April, a record inspired by Anstascia's and Vivie-Ann's interest in late 60's musical movements.
The three tracks on this EP effectively stage the innovation and quirkiness Blond:ish is already known for, fusing highly explosive main floor antics with evocative side degree machinations that wouldn't feel out of place in a steam-punk spaghetti western. Blond:ish's innovative and quirky reputation certainly wasn't grown on a tree, but materialised in the dark trenches of Cherry nightclub in Montreal. Anyone that has attended their parties can attest that there is something very special about this underground midweek mangle. It's the winning formula of diverse freaks, organised chaos and Blond:ish's genre defying sets that has them still holding their monthly residency since 2008.
This duo rides off each other's hefty musical knowledge and flawless technique with their diverse personas only adding to the intrigue. Anstascia's unruly demeanor and creative spark spirals against Vivie-Ann's scientific and geek-chic flair in a whirlwind of inspiration and contrast. The result is a force to be reckoned with, a vibe that effortlessly transcends in the studio, behind the booth and more than anything, to the dance-floor.

05. Edu Imbernon feat. Sutja Gutierrez- Imberlove (jozif Remix) [More Music | TIMORE015]
Edu Imbernon’s new single, Imberlove feat. Sutja Gutierrez is backed by two remixes from jozif and Inxec. The original mix takes spaced out vocals and guitar loops placed delicately over a grooving disco rhythm section jozif’s edit takes the original and engineers it for the floor in storming deep-house fashion, whilst Inxec forges a tech-house roller.

Surely buoyed by the reception to his reworking of The xx's "Crystalised" last year, Edu Imbernon mixes traditional analogue instrumentation with brooding house on "Imberlove." In fact, so much so that rather than an original track, it sounds like it could be a remix of some smouldering, floppy-haired indie types—in a good way.
The shimmering electric guitar licks, a rising bassline and dream pop vocals come courtesy of Sutja Gutierrez, with Imbernon filling in the rest. It feels like an event and confirms the Valencian producer as a man with talent. In the hands of Nottingham's flame-haired tech house purveyor Inxec, "Imberlove" is a more melancholic affair, supported by a trembling, reverbed bassline and mournful synth phrases. jozif's take is an altogether chirpier affair, recasting the original guitar riff into some woozy wah-wah wigout and dressing it up in disco-fied percussion and a choppy, chugging rhythm. Like the original, it's on the quirky side, but has the dance floor oomph to maintain broad appeal.
06. jozif - Standard Rising [Culprit Los Angeles | CP027]
For his second release on the label this year, Culprit welcome jozif and his Standard Rising EP. Sharing the former's anticipation and buzz, Standard Rising is the middle installment in the LA-based imprints anthemic summer trilogy. Exuberant and profoundly catchy the EP is bursting with fresh ideas that are uniquely jozif and perfectly matched to Culprit's forward moving sound.

08. Electric Rescue - Dope (Electric Rescue 2012 Mix) [Bedrock Digital | Beddigi-13r]
The reception for Electric Rescue’s original version of Dope (BEDDIGI13), released at the tail end of 2011, was nothing short of exceptional. A huge tune in John Digweed’s sets for months before release, this Balearic techno monster combined the elegance of Detroit attitude with the groove of a big room tune, like no other. Underground and eclectic, it went overground in a big way!
Now, Bedrock brings you an absolutely superb remix package that is sure to cause a equally huge commotion. Electric Rescue revisits Dope and tweaks and twists the original into a brand new (and no less massive) anthem for summer 2012. On remix duty, John Digweed and Nick Muir show that they never rest on past laurels and are always developing their sound in an exciting direction, by producing a massive, low-slung, throbbing house interpretation. To round off the package in style, German master-producer Stephan Bodzin takes Dope on an exotic electro-techno journey that is pure autobahn driving material, the quality and authenticity of his re-production a testament to studio skills that can only come from years of dedicated time spent in the studio.
Few French electronic music artists combine experience, avant-gardism and guaranteed success on dance floors as Electric Rescue (aka Antoine Husson) does. With his reputation already flying high in France via his residency at the Rex Club (check out the superb Skryptöm parties) and also organising Play rave parties in Paris, his Dope is once again set to be incredibly popular worldwide.

09. Nico Lahs - My Side (Daniel Dexter Remix) [Poker Flat Recordings | PFR 132]
Poker Flat Recordings drop more summer-defining grooves via the talented Italian new-comer Nico Lahs. Already building a formidable reputation for both his exquisitely produced tracks and his party animal exploits, Nico brings more heat for the clued-up dancefloor with the 'My Side EP'.
Kicking off with the epically deep 'My Side', Nico drops some blissful, twisted, narcotic business - destined for big systems, preferably in the open air. The funky bass line twitches like it’s been awake way too long, while the whispered vocals ask “how far will you go?” – Nico’s answer is clearly a very long way.
Berlin’s Daniel Dexter provides a slightly tougher rework of the same track, dubbing out some section before smashing home the kick drum once more with devastating effect.
'Symptoms' keeps the vibe going with nicely modulating synths, dub effects and chiming pads. Walking a fine line between tough funk and melancholic deepness is becoming a trademark move for Nico.
'Suddenly Gone' sees Nico go a shade darker with a minimalistic late-night stormer. Pristine sounds, combined with precision and a true ear for the party.

10. Uto Karem - Take Control (Dub) [Plus 8 Records Ltd. | PLUS8125]
Here Uto Karem returns to Plus 8 for his second release on the label, with the two tracks he serves up - Take Control and All Over You - continuing in the rising Italian stars good run of form.As well as being an in-demand remixer, DJ and producer, Karem also runs his own Agile Recordings imprint on which he explores the same deep techno rhythms and loopy hypnotism as he does with his two original tracks here.
Take Control is a liquid track which builds in looped layers through piston pumping percussion, up-right beats and plenty of melodic drama. Though it pushes on from left to right in true Plus 8 style, the warmth and atmosphere that surrounds the main beats and bass is what really sets the track alight.
All Over You again features a crisp, almost dry production style as various percussive elements flesh out a 4/4 techno groove. Hidden within each bar are some wooden sounding hits and various melodic notes, all of which are heart-warming additions to a killer dancefloor groove.
As well as this, there is a more driving dub version of Take Control which canters on a knife edge for its six minute duration, closing out another efficient and streamlined techno release on Plus 8.
11. Paperclip People - Throw (Slam's RTM Remix) [Planet E Communications | PLE65351-3]
Detroit producer Carl Craig is considered to be one of the most important names in the Detroit second generation of techno producers and DJs. According to an article about Craig, "Of this group, Craig was often recognised as being the most artful and the most willing to engage the rapidly growing shape of techno outside Detroit." Carl Craig has approaches techno using inspiration from a wide range of musical genres, including jazz and soul.
Carl Craig has released many successful albums under a large number of aliases, such as Paperclip People, C2 and 69. Using one alias, Innerzone Orchestra, he released perhaps his best-known track "Bug in The Bassbin" in 1992, a track that many regard as being a key influence in the then evolving sound of drum & bass.
In 1991 Carl Craig has also created his own record label called Planet E Communications, which apart from his own work, has released records over 20+ years by well known techno and house artists like Kevin Saunderson, Alton Miller, Moodymann, Kirk Degiorgio and Kenny Larkin to more modern day artists like Vince Watson, Martin Buttrich, Psycatron, Paul Woolford and Reference.
Paperclip People's 'Throw' was originally released in 1994 [PE PCP 1] sampling sample bass guitar from Loleatta Holloway's Hit and Run. More recently the track gained a renaissance with LCD Soundsystem's 2010 remix [PLE65323-1].
A revisit of the PE back catalogue sees 'The Secret Tapes of Dr. Eich' – the 1996 album by Carl Craig under his Paperclip People alias – set to get the full remaster and reissue treatment.
The album collected a series of rawer, more house-leaning 12” singles Craig released under the alias during the 90s – including, among others, the classic ‘Throw’. The 2LP album has been fully remastered, and will be available on Craig’s own Planet E label. No release date confirmed as yet.

12. John Digweed & Nick Muir - 30 Northeast (Julian Jeweil Dub) [Bedrock Records | Bed97R]
The buzz around John Digweed and Nick Muir’s 30 Northeast was intense last summer when it was released on Bedrock. In its original form it was a spine-tingling, fizzing, spiralling, big-room monster that caused a commotion everywhere, a hard act to follow? Most certainly! But John Digweed’s impeccable A&R skills have not let us down with his selection of the acclaimed rising star of French techno, Julian Jeweil, to remix this beast.
The Marseille born DJ/Producer has been setting the world alight with his productions on Richie Hawtin’s Plus8 label (“Baboo” and “Hermanos”) and Sven Vath’s Cocoon (his “Soho” track reached No.1 in the Beatport techno chart), so its no wonder that he has delivered two stunning techno interpretations that are powerful, subtle and euphoric in perfect balance. Julian Jeweil’s towering talent, on display here, most definitely mark him out as someone to keep on your radar throughout 2012!
For fact finders, “30 Northeast” refers to the street address of Vagabond in Miami, USA. The club that so effectively captured the energy of a John Digweed DJ set that it became his first ever commercially available live DJ mix. “John Digweed Live at the Vagabond”, recorded at the 9th Annual Bedrock/Creations Party at Vagabond Miami 27th March 2010, was included on the “Structures’” bonus DVD as yet another musical milestone for the label. A live mix complete with slideshow, it captured the essence of an amazing Bedrock Party for posterity.

Nicole Moudaber and Victor Calderone are natural studio partners. Their shared passion for the sultry, tough sounds that have come to define the New York scene has created a strong musical understanding. The cornerstone of a partnership that combines classic styles with new-school inventiveness to deliver new techno sound that brings energy and emotion to the underground.
The Journey Begins exemplifies this musical vision with an epic production that has soaring chords contrasting with a dark pulsing groove beneath to create a distinctive and memorable atmosphere. Vertical Limit provides the textbook compliment on the b-side; fashioning a hypnotic and tension-building workout from an infectious tribal groove punctuated with abrasive stabs and dark, warped vocals.

Paul Ritch presents his new EP >Secret Garden< and celebrates 3 years of his own Quartz Rec. After 20 releases the label has stablished itself as a leading force in the techno scene and this new 3 tracks will raise the bar even further.
Atmospheric sounds, hybrid textures and organic layers laced with broken voices and bonded all together to generate the required voltage for each of the 3 cuts to be dance-floor explosive hymns. A delight!
17. Clio - Do It (Carlo Lio Remix) [Metroline Limited | MLTD053]
The latest release on Metroline takes no prisoners. Clio brings it big. Every track on this EP is loaded, primed and ready to fire. Lead track Poem does "big" the George Clinton way. Basslines cranked to funk, tempo raised, and drum tracks set to attack.
Sinister and sparse percussion gives Do It an entirely different feel. But under the tune's brooding atmospherics is an equally powerful rhythm. Fired by a growling sub-bass that whoomps out of the speaker like a sonic weapon. Killer.
Speaker-busting bass and pumping kicks are the order of the day on the flip. Carlo Lio's remix of Do It thunders along. Built for dance-floor shock and awe, this track's built like a tank - unstoppable and ready for combat.
The massively in-demand Sasch BBC and Caspar go intergalactic on their rework of Poem. This is the tune that plays in Hal 9000's head. Epic, deep and serious, with a healthy dose of paranoia. Careful this one doesn't tear a hole in your space station.

18. Mitrinique - Green Mountains (Peter Dundov Remix) [Sound Avenue | SA007]
Lets start with Mitrinique and the original mix of Green Mountains, a hypnotic deep bass led throbber, with subtle melodics adding depth, certainly a serious slab of coolness that does the damage.
First of the remixes comes from Croatian Petar Dundov whose fanbase includes Vath, Tenaglia, Digweed, Dubfire, Wink, Beyer and Francois K, so you know you're on to something special before we've begun here. Petar's mix captures the original vibe but adds his own spellbinding vibes. Subtle yet infectious, a spacious mix, teasing elements and draws you right in.
Argentinian Facundo Mohrr steps up next with a tougher techno workout, with energy,drive and attitude oozing out. Peak time coolness with all the elements for serious dance floor damage. No wonder Christian Smith and Sasha are fans of his.
As an extra bonus, remixes of a former unreleased Mitrinique track Saturday are included here too... Holland's Eelke Kleijn wears his remixing trousers and delivers a dark and robust growling, yet reserved workout for the serious moments of your set, a different vibe than were used to from Eelke, but a most welcome and appreciated one that will raise a few eyebrows with the heir achy of DJs, and is already big for Cattaneo.
Completing this awesome package are more Argentinians Doppler Muzikk remix of Saturday a dubby builder, with bass that rumbles, beats that crunch, meeting filtered pads and a dark vibe that rocks.
