    Release Notes

    01. Tale Of Us + Clockwork feat. The/Das - Life and Death (Fresh Water EP) [Life and Death | LAD008]

Written and produced by Carmine Conte, Matteo Milleri and Francesco Leali.
Lyrics written and sung by Fabian Fenk.

Established members of the Life and Death crew join forces with a few new recruits to create an emotional journey across a beautiful new landscape of future music. With the "Fresh Water EP", Life and Death once again bring together a combination of unique musical voices that stretch beyond traditional genres to stake out new territories in contemporary dance music.

Coming out of the gate like a horse on fire, the title track sees Italian duo, Tale Of Us, return to the Life and Death mothership with a new original piece featuring Berlin duo, The/Das. It's a haunting dancefloor monster that won't leave your mind (or body) quickly, even once the music stops. With its throbbing bassline, ethereal synths and that voice that beckons, cooly but urgently, Fresh Water hits its emotional nerve with razor-like precision.

Next up comes the appropriately named Life and Death, a paean to the ethos of the label and a missive to the collective unconsciousness of the world at large. Label veterans Tale Of Us and Clockwork combine their considerable talents here with newcomers The/Das to shoot this very personal statement across the bow of contemporary music. It's not between us and them but life and death, calls out the expressive voice of The/Das' Fabian Fenk, as an epic soundtrack builds and rolls slowly but steadily underneath it. A marching song for a disaffected but impassioned generation, Life and Death is as nuanced and unique as the artists and label behind it. A rallying call for something better lying in wait on the other side of all of our futures.

Last up is the perfect coda for this well rounded emotional journey. The/Das's Keep This gets reworked by Tale Of Us and takes us to a hopeful and happy place that's the perfect finishing point for this story. As Fabian croons to us quickly across the groove Tale Of Us impart their own unique sound throughout it. A sound which is actually not a sound so much as a feeling that the sound evokes. Hard to describe but obvious to feel once it penetrates your ears, it's an emotional connection they make once again, almost effortlessly, as they reinterpret The/Das' beautiful original.

    02. Sound Process - The Unthinkable [unreleased]

Sound Process a.k.a Juan Goya, the Argentinian born, Buenos Aires based dj & producer gained a lot of attention in 2010 with his track “Anatolian" for friskyRecords, a track that has been on many DJs wishlists for several months.

Focused on deep and rough-edged underground house, his musical taste and style tends towards deep-tech, progressive house and melodic techno.
His tracks are regularly played and supported by industry most important names such as Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, Jimmy Van M, Henry Saiz, Eelke Kleijn, Pole Folder and Cid Inc, to name a few.

In 2012 he started working in the studio with Jimmy Van M and Guille Quero on releases scheduled for 2013.
Besides his work and demand as producer and remixer, he established himself as a DJ, playing in lots of cities and venues in his country. With a discography of over 50 signed tracks between originals and remixes up to date in great labels like Baroque Records (UK), Proton (USA), Outside The Box Music (NED), Flow Vinyl (PR) Stripped Recordings (UK), Replug (FIN), Nurvous (USA), Crossfrontier (GER), Lowbit (UK), friskyRecords (USA), between others.

With even more releases and remixes for 2013, you can catch Sound Process for one complete hour of mixed musical exquisiteness every first thursday of the month on his show "Still Deeper".

    03. Estroe - Living Apart Together (Ian O´Donovan) [Proton Music | PROTON0195]

Estroe's "Living Apart Together" first came to fruition on Proton in March 2012 and was the Dutch maestro's debut solo EP for the label. No stranger to the world of EDM, and with support from esteemed luminaries Estroe has had a plethora of releases on multiple labels since 2006, including Connaisseur, Night bird and her very own EevoNext imprint which also serves as namesake for her own radio show.

With original support from Cid Inc, Jay Epoch, Eelke Kleijn and James Warren, "Living Apart Together" and "Punchie" now receive two world-class remixes. Ian O'Donavan's rise to the upper echelons of the EDM hierarchy has been nothing short of meteoric. Since returning to his Irish homeland from Australia in 2009 to take his 'music-making seriously', Laurent Garnier soon picked up on O'Donovan's distinctive blend of melody and infectious rhythms. Subsequent, contact with Bedrock label owner, John Digweed led to the release of the 3 track "Aurora Borealis" EP in June 2010. Since then, a whirlwind release schedule that has seen him remix The Japanese Popstars, Kollektiv Turmstrasse and, most recently, Stephen J. Kroos, for Virgin, Connaisseur and A Must Have. This has further been combined with a set of high profile solo releases for the likes of Stripped, Hype Muzik and Perspectives Digital and in the summer of 2012, Ian added to his burgeoning portfolio by hosting a master class for the popular tutorial website, Sonic Academy.

Ian's belief in working with "emotions" is reflected in his remix of Estroe. Trademark tech rhythms and skittish percussion, combined with groove-laden stabs, provide a perfect backdrop for Estroe's wonderful melodies to effortless weave their path. The subtle addition of Ian's own melodic riff only serves to reinforce the fact that this track is far greater than the sum of its not inconsiderable parts.

Russia's Paul Yudin, operating under his Paronator guise, has been a much lauded and respected resident on both Proton and Apollo with his recently renamed radio show, "Lost and Found" proving ever-popular. With a reputation for producing deep, texture-laden productions, his Apollo track "Believe" was a Beatport Deep House Top 10 best-seller in 2008. However, to pigeon-hole Paronator to a single genre would belie his talent for producing melodic and rhythmic gems that have found their way to the likes of Anjunadeep - where his March 2012 release "No Gravity" saw a high-profile remix by Tom Middleton - and an impressive collaboration with Darin Epsilon for Perspectives, producing, "Esperanto". Paranator's remix of "Punchie" reflects his passion for deep house with its strong, deep, tech-oriented rhythms punching their way through the dark stabs and machine-like textures. This is a classy production.

With Ian O'Donovan and Paronator unleashing 2 new remixes, "Living Apart Together" looks like a match made in heaven.

Santi Mossman and Rodrigo Mateo are no strangers to Resident. Santi, last appeared on 063 remixing Moby 'Victoria Lucas' and 044 with Etheric Signal [Baires Records]. Rodrigo was 077 remixing Dzim 'Limits' [Dopamine Music] on 058 with Blossom Out Of Nothing [Baires Records].

In early 2012, Hernan Cattaneo included his new track: Etheric Signal in Delta resident Radioshow Club. Currently working for Baires Records.

Rodrigo Mateo (198, Electronic musician from Buenos Aires. "I concieve music as a vehicle for personal storytelling, and it's the only way of comunication I feel confortable with. If you listen my music, you certainly know more about me than people who doesn't."

Gustav Mahler once said "If a composer could say what he had to say in words he would not bother trying to say it in music". That's all I want: to tell you something.

    05. Beat Syndrome - White Lie [unreleased]

Canadian duo Beat Syndrome follow up their appearance on Resident 084 ('Ebullience' for Movement Recordings) with 'White Lie'. Very limited info on this.

    09. Dibby Dougherty & Dave Young - The Swan [unreleased]

    10. Rod - Yolo [Drumcode Limited | DCLTD07]

For DCLTD07, ROD (aka Rod Malmok of Rotterdam) has based this track around a melodic synth to create the A-side ‘Yolo’. Using interesting filtering techniques this track dynamically uses different drum parts to create excitement and tension. The B-side ‘106’, uses an infectious percussion rhythm and subdued synth-line to lead to a soft stabs that will tear up any club. The synth slowly creeps up and filters itself up and down in juxtaposition with the bass to create a funky techno game-changer that will leave you craving more.
