Production getting an ideal start up programs & midi hardware on a shoestring budget

Thinking of finally getting some decent production software (legally this time) with some midi keyboard/controllers

I am familiar with ableton (5 and on a noob level..just used to mix mostly and fuck around a bit) and fl studio which is a bit toy like

Local shop suggested various soundcards, basic speakers and a choice of reason or ableton.

Thinking ableton as I can always make a mix there if my decks shit themselves...

can you do a dj mix with reason?

I bought this baby yesterday: Roland JX-305
itīs the great MC-505 plus a keyboard. You can do everything with this, the whole song if you want. Iīm going to use it to play with a band, but also to add some stuff to my emusic home productions.
