      Release Notes:

      01. Kyodai - My Thing [Freerange Records | FRD170]

Kyodai have had a strong run of releases since their debut here on Freerange last year. Their Mi Rumba EP must have impressed a lot of people as they went on to release a follow up EP for Mad Mats blossoming Local Talk label and also have an EP due on Poker Flat in the coming weeks. Kerri Chandler dug it enough to include on his RA podcast and it was also picked up for the Cielo Compilation on Nervous.

La Luz kicks off this release with a Brazilian rhythm known as Candomblé laying the foundation of the groove. The opening section builds with warped LFO rhodes pads and tripped out FX adding colour until the middle breakdown where a snaking synth bass enters and continues to twist and turn throughout the remainder of the track. A perfect example of high impact deep house which is just about the most succinct way to describe the Kyodai style.

Next up we have My Thing, treading deeper waters with a slower tempo and
focusing on a simple chiming chord progression. Perfect mood-setting club music for those rocking the slow build.

Finally we have Chopstick & Johnjon onboard for the remix. Hot from their
incredible Versions EP on Suol, their track Listen was absolutely everywhere this summer and rightly so, with it’s accessible vocal yet deep, slow and underground approach. The Berlin based duo opt for a similar sound on their remix, injecting some serious funk through use of live bass samples and loose, disco drum groove. Their all-analogue mixing through an SSL desk ensures their sound glows warm, pumps hard and has a unique character which rounds off the EP perfectly.

      Released by: Freerange Records
      Release date: Nov 12, 2012

      Bio

Kyodai means "brothers" in Japanese and that's a good clue for guessing who`s behind these two heads, the Berlin producers (Javier & Luis Garayalde) are known under a variety of different names! The Kyodai debut was on Freerange with the highly succeeded "Mi Rumba EP" and continues on Local Talk with "Breaking EP" supported by top names, until reaching the top list of the Gilles Peterson's "An All Winners Show", resulting in many requests for remixes and productions.

      02. Estroe - Punchie (Paronator Remix) (Living Apart Together Remixes EP) [Proton Music | PROTON0195]

Estroe's "Living Apart Together" first came to fruition on Proton in March 2012 and was the Dutch maestro's debut solo EP for the label. No stranger to the world of EDM, and with support from luminaries such as John Digweed, Dave Clarke and M.A.N.D.Y.

Estroe has had a plethora of releases on multiple labels since 2006, including Connaisseur, Night bird and her very own EevoNext imprint which also serves as namesake for her own radio show. With original support from Cid Inc, Jay Epoch, Eelke Kleijn and James Warren, "Living Apart Together" and "Punchie" now receive two world-class remixes.

Ian O'Donavan's rise to the upper echelons of the EDM hierarchy has been nothing short of meteoric. Since returning to his Irish homeland from Australia in 2009 to take his 'music-making seriously', Laurent Garnier soon picked up on O'Donovan's distinctive blend of melody and infectious rhythms. Subsequent, contact with Bedrock label owner, John Digweed led to the release of the 3 track "Aurora Borealis" EP in June 2010. Since then, a whirlwind release schedule that has seen him remix The Japanese Popstars, Kollektiv Turmstrasse and, most recently, Stephen J. Kroos, for Virgin, Connaisseur and A Must Have. This has further been combined with a set of high profile solo releases for the likes of Stripped, Hype Muzik and Perspectives Digital and in the summer of 2012, Ian added to his burgeoning portfolio by hosting a master class for the popular tutorial website, Sonic Academy. Ian's belief in working with "emotions" is reflected in his remix of Estroe. Trademark tech rhythms and skittish percussion, combined with groove-laden stabs, provide a perfect backdrop for Estroe's wonderful melodies to effortless weave their path. The subtle addition of Ian's own melodic riff only serves to reinforce the fact that this track is far greater than the sum of its not inconsiderable parts.

Russia's Paul Yudin, operating under his Paronator guise, has been a much lauded and respected resident on both Proton and Apollo with his recently renamed radio show, "Lost and Found" proving ever-popular. With a reputation for producing deep, texture-laden productions, his Apollo track "Believe" was a Beatport Deep House Top 10 best-seller in 2008. However, to pigeon-hole Paronator to a single genre would belie his talent for producing melodic and rhythmic gems that have found their way to the likes of Anjunadeep - where his March 2012 release "No Gravity" saw a high-profile remix by Tom Middleton - and an impressive collaboration with Darin Epsilon for Perspectives, producing, "Esperanto".

Paranator's remix of "Punchie" reflects his passion for deep house with its strong, deep, tech-oriented rhythms punching their way through the dark stabs and machine-like textures. This is a classy production. With Ian O'Donovan and Paronator unleashing 2 new remixes, "Living Apart Together" looks like a match made in heaven.

      03. Kollektiv Turmstrasse - Kontakt (Sieg über die Sonne Remix) (Rebellion der Träumer - Remixes Part 4) [Connaisseur Recordings | cns054-6]

We proudly present the 4th and last part of the Kollektiv Turmstrasse – Rebellion der Träumer Remixes. After reworks by Aril Brikha, Robag Wruhme and Jimpster, our Connaisseur protégés Of Norway and selected quality remixes from the competition we did with with Juno Download, we now present two further remixes by true purveyors of distinctive German electronic dance music: Sieg über die Sonne and Roman Flügel.

The last release by Sieg über die Sonne was in 2006. Since then, the band members Tobias Freund aka Tobias. and Dandy Jack had concentrated more on their solo projects and other artist constellations. We feel honoured that their remix for Kollektiv Turmstrasse’s Kontakt is their first life sight since years, and we hope more will follow in the future. Their remix is a strong grooving Techno-Pop track with smart sample work and catchy melodies - fitting perfectly to Kollektiv Turmstrasse.

On the flipside, nobody less than Roman Flügel has fulfilled this remix duties perfectly. A very unique interpretation, which is hard to describe. Somewhere between Electronica and a mental after party track. Tiny cute electronic sound fragments swirl around the long upbuilding and stoic marching arrangement like will-o’wisps. 100% Roman Flügel and 100% outstanding.

      04. Markus Homm - Key Frame (Leo Leal & Adrian Garza Remix) (What Do The Want - Remixes EP) [Unike Muzik | UNIKEMUZIK002]

At an early age Markus Homm was inspired by the sounds that kept him dancing as an early teen. The Romanian born producer has made quite the impression on electronic music since then. Producing since 2006 often alone or with his production partner and fellow Romanian, Mihai Popovichu, Homm's sound has translated into a unique style of dance music ranging from Deep House to Tech House.

Among other collaborations is The Highgrade Disharmonic Orchestra, his latest live project, alongside label colleagues Tom Clark, Todd Bodine, and Dale und Daniel Dreier. The group made an amazing debut in the summer of 2010 at Watergate proving how Homm moves consistently forward and continues his playful exploration of the bond between music and body.

With successful releases on various labels like Highgrade Records and Diynamic Music, Markus Homm's Remixes EP on Unike Musik, follows up with 4 re-touches of his latest work for the label.

New York's Mexican Leo Leal & Guadalajara's own Adrian Garza team up for an international collaboration on Homm's Key Frame. The duo's dripping acid inspired remix reverberates dark bass sounds and pops in filtered doses of dreamy pads on top of glimmering effects.

Next the french legend, Chris Carrier, takes over remix duties for Homm's Keyframe Signal, a soaring infusion of polished analog sounds and spunky tech percussion.

The Greek producer, turned Londoner, Alex Celler, supplies a stunning rendition of Take Off, as bumping bass and tonal toms ignite this widely deep mover and shaker.

8bit's Carlos Sanchez polishes off the release with his take on What Do They Want, attracting fans of tougher sounds from the days of vinyl and stomping underground. Homm's dedication and impact has inspired a multi faceted EP with remixes that continue this notorious producer's legacy through a wide array of deep energy. Enjoy!

      05. Dilby - Let Me Chant (John Debo Mix) [Mindwarp Records | MW18]

Mindwarp boss John Debo founded his Boston South End neighbourhood label when, during a 1992 UK tour and crashing on the couch of Dave Seaman (one half of Brothers in Rhythm and A&R Director for the then highly profiled Stress Records) Debo sat back and enjoyed the latest tunes from Dave and his label. As John happened to have a cassette of his new production work, he left it with Dave to enjoy. Days later John Debo was offered a record deal for his Mindwarp project on Stress !

Founding Boston’s pioneering club nights Chrome & Avaland as conduits to bring forward thinking DJs and upfront dance music from around the world, Chrome quickly garnered a reputation of being one of THE club nights in the US and Avaland was selected by Mixer Magazine as the #1 club in America for 2002.

Given the success of his debut material on Stress, it should be no surprise that Debo has found a home for his other work. His remix work and original production has been featured on highly respected labels like Bedrock and Yoshitoshi. He has managed to bring his signature touch to a vast array or quirky tunes from cutting edge 80’s bands Modern English and Frankie Goes To Hollywood, to pioneering 90’s bands Blur and The Charlatans UK as well as groundbreaking artists Everything But The Girl.

In 2004 John left Boston for sunny Orlando Florida to focus on his true passion – the music. Its great to see Mindwarp still going strong and putting out quality music.

      06. Andrew Bayer - Gaff's Eulogy (Ryan Davis Interpretation) [Anjunadeep | ANJDEE162D]

"My latest work on a nice original by Andrew Bayer for Anjuna Deep. Was a pleasure to work out a soft and slow, well balanced track and showing my other side of melodic techno. Good for those times after work, a nice sunset open air session or even for the wintertime. Hope you enjoy it as i do." [Ryan Davis]

Originally appearing as the closing track on James Grant's "Anjunadeep 04 CD", Andrew Bayer's Gaff's Eulogy" also represents the first single from his much anticipated second artist album "If It Were You, We'd Never Leave".

With his first album "It's Artificial" described by Mixmag as "an incredible album of sophisticated electronica", "If It Were You, We'd Never Leave" takes a more personal and contemplative approach.

A cinematic electronica journey full of emotion and drama, Andrew Bayer's "Gaff's Eulogy" blends woozy, glitched out textures with sonic warmth and the intricate musicality that he is renowned for.

Counting names like Sasha, Stephan Bodzin and Ivan Smagghe among his supporters, Berlin based Ryan Davis steps up for remix duties on this release having released his own celebrated artist album on Traum earlier in the year in the aptly titled "Particles Of Bliss".

Taking a deep and intricate approach, Davis reshapes the emotive textures of the original into a blissful melodic techno epic.

This further release by Italian DJ & Producer -(Harvey Hunzed Productions) - takes you in a couple of different directions - HOPE is a beautiful melodic tech house number where as Miss you is a funky vocal piece that will go down well in an early - mid set.

      08. Ultraísta - Smalltalk (Four Tet Remix) [Ghostly International | GI-166]

Ultraίsta, the multimedia trio comprised of vocalist/artist Laura Bettinson and multi-instrumentalist/producers Nigel Godrich and Joey Waronker have announced their self-titled debut album which will be released on October 2nd.

Founded in London in 2011 on a mutual love of Afrobeat, electronic and dance music, visual art and tequila, Ultraísta has created 10 tracks of exquisitely crafted electronic kraut-pop for this phenomenal first outing. They've enlisted Kieran Hebden & Matthew Dear for this limited 12 inch remix package!

Preceding their eagerly anticipated LP, Ghostly (exclusively in North America) and I Am Fortified are releasing a limited edition 12” featuring remixes by Four Tet and Matthew Dear of album track "Smalltalk."

Ahead of their eponymous debut album, Ultraísta employ Four Tet and Matthew Dear to give their multimedia pop tunes a lick of dance-floor savvy. Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet flips 'Smalltalk' as frothy but moody-edged pop-house groove with his signature, crafty polyrhythms and an uplifting yet melancholic 2nd half lift. Matthew Dear's take is more experimental, disturbing the drums with a case of itchy pants, synched with a queer, off-kilter bass-line and surging, almost-out-time synth-lines to beguiling, 'floor-compelling effect. I'd really like this in the club.

      Released by: Ghostly International
      Release/catalogue number: GI-166
