    Release Notes:

    01. Chasing Kurt - One Day [Organic Music | ORG005]

The Next Release on Organic Music Features the Deep House Project “Chasing Kurt “ from Frankfurt. brought to life by the producer team Pascal Blanché and Wojtek Kutschke featuring the heartfelt lyrics of polish soul crooner Lukas Poloczek.

After rocking the house at Kater Holzig last week-end , we are very proud to present you there 3 last original tracks. To Complete the Ep, A simply awesome remix from Jef K, whose on fire right now !!!

One Day (Original Mix) is a soft, sublime piece of deep house. The vocal part drives you through the inspirational melodies of this beautiful track. It’s simple, catchy and positive vibe is evident from the very first notes right to the end. Evolving synth stabs and drum part creates very danceable atmosphere. Relentless vocals make you want to sing along this emotive track.

Gettin Ready (Original Mix) slowly warms you up for the groovy journey into this eclectic sonic adventure. Piano and vocal work beautifully together to
build up an invisible tension with the hint of sensuality and seriousness. You don’t realise how quickly time passes when you listen to this track. Its slow assertive mood has a rather hypnotic quality.

Gettin Ready (Jef K Remix) Jef K creates altogether another soundscape from ‘Getting Ready’. With its glimmering intro you are bought into this radiant world built by interplay of synth bass and confident drum parts. Throughout its course the track swells and breaks down several times, leaving you with a feeling that you have just experienced a daydreaming episode, albeit a very pleasant one.

Gettin Ready (Kurt’s Dub) The Dub version of ‘Getting Ready’ with its slightly different structure and arrangement is a cool variation of the original. Additional vocal sample creates pleasant melancholia and somehow track feels even more settled. Overall feeling of sumptuous grooviness does not leave you throughout the track. It’s a very slick production.

    02. Arash - Mind Game (Jordan Peak Remix) (Distant Voices EP) [Silver Network | SILVER 036]

"Remixing Mind Games, Jordan Peak offers the most radical outing on the EP. The bassline is jacked up and the percussion is hacked into shuffling, hip-jerking rhythms. A dazzling counterpart to the original, it’s a slice of rowdy tech-house that encompasses half a dozen on-trend sounds whilst retaining the soulful saturnine sound of the original." [Ibiza Voice]

After utilising the talents of Subb-An, Death On The Balcony & Le Loup in 2012, Jef K’s Silver Network signal the end of the year with a slick deep house affair from hot new talent Arash featuring big remixes from Shade and Jordan Peak.

A German with Persian origins, Arash Behinzad has been honing his production skills since 2011, after discovering the classic house sounds of the 90′s on the Frankfurt electronic music scene.

Title track ‘Distant Voices’ commences with a strong percussive groove characterised by a tribal conga line and complemented by sharp synth stabs. Additional spacey elements are gradually added as the track evolves and the track really begins to take shape with the introduction of an inspirational vocal, which paves the way for several breakdowns to take energy levels to new heights.

Parisian veteran Shade steps up for remix duties and certainly brings a bit of the French house flavour with his interpretation. A strong kick/clap combo and a big booty bass line straight out of the Derrick Carter handbook ensure this one goes hard all night long.

Up next is ‘Mind Game’ which opens with real direction and purpose. Shifting percussion is layered expertly and once again the vast array of musical elements are expertly arranged only this time even deeper and more heavily FX’d.

New kid on the scene Jordan Peak steps up this time as remixer and shows exactly why he is riding such an incredible wave of hype at the moment. This is shifting house at its finest, with skipping highs, jackin’ lows and pitched down vocals making up what is sure to be a huge dancefloor hit in the coming months.

Last but not least there is a digital only offering entitled ‘Intimacy Mood’ which captivates the soul and the senses with its lazy sub bass, intricate woodblock melodies and infectious horn section.

    03. Inxec & Mark Chambers - Skoolin Anthea [Vicario Musique Recordings | VMR004]

Cutting a two metre shadow, with blue eyes and red hair - its not hard to miss the sky scraping figure of Inxec. And there is no stop button in sight Mark Chambers has always found sanctuary in the corners of his mind, for in the corners he finds the true nature and true creative being of himself. These two artists created a simple-yet duo of dark tunes for us. Aesthetically black and beautiful music, Skoolin Anthea was inspired actually in their friend Anthea from Phonica Records. They were at the studio when the track was made, ''And she was chilling'', Mark Chambers said.

    [Ibiza Voice Review]

Versatile producer Inxec teams up with Mancunian Mark Chambers for Baja-based label Vicario Musique’s fourth release “Skoolin Anthea”. Typical of Inxec’s work, it’s hard to pigeonhole this record into any one broad category on the EP’s two original tracks. The EP also includes two remixes – one a nuanced down tempo remake from Southern California artist Clovis and the other a rather ham-fisted remix from French duo Amine Edge & DANCE. Overall, this is an ambitious, big sounding EP from a standout pair of producers and a hungry new label.

The original version of “Skoolin Anthea” is a murky, bass line propelled tech-house cut that does a good job of hiding its essentials. Everything about this track is focused into subtle shades of grey and seems somewhat opaque to the casual listener forcing trained ears to really focus on the gem hiding underneath dense layers of music fog.

“Finding” feels like a live techno jam with its loose edges and less of the formal structures dominating most dance floor tracks. That kind of ambition is rare in dance music these days as each new crop of budding musicians adhere to the rulebook with even more rigid tenacity than the previous generation. Part of making music that is comprised of ragged rhythms like these is putting that book learning intellectualism aside for a moment to feel around for those gut instincts. Here instincts give an otherwise bland track a rolling swing that is both gentle and hazy, two of modern house music’s best friends in the adjective department.

Clovis takes an interesting approach to his remix but it’s a bit too sloppy in the percussion department to put it into the same league as the precision crafted originals. The charm here is in the ratty edges, they give the remix a little mix of groin-level back room chicanery and the kind of highbrow anarchy found in a Henry Miller novel. Having a track compared to a piece of literature, however, is the kiss of death and there is nothing that can be done for this too wild and too smart offering to save it from its fate.

French duo Amine Edge & DANCE takes the easy route, with a hacked out acid house retro groove riding the wave of cocaine-fuelled nu disco fluffiness. It all heads nowhere fast but does provide the EP with one dance floor track that won’t scare the children with its somber moodiness. Every single needs that palate-cleansing moment to preserve the integrity of the release and this remix fills the role on this single, but not as capably as it should.

    04. Fischer & Klebber - Euphorium (Air EP) [Souvenir Plus | SOUVENIRPLUS018]

Fischer and Kleber have most definitely been thinking outside the box for their latest EP on SOUVENIRPLUS.

Over four tracks the German duo demonstrate their range and skill in creating taut and effective melodies. They kick things off with a gentle, tinkling beat that reminiscent of early midi accompaniments, over which euphoric piano keys lift the tone to new heights. The bassline hisses along until hurtling headfirst into a powerful, pleading baritone that positively urges ones hands further into the air. Next up things get tribal, the banging of the drums accompany some synth stabs which ratchets up the tension, as some guttural voices chant along. A Twilight Zone-like eerie synth announces the massive drop, as the bass-line hits like a speeding locomotive.

‘Wonderful Life’ is quite the change of pace, baroque chamber strings clash with a slow insistent beat and a distended male cabaret voice as the cherry on top of this weirding cake. A most effective mood piece and most definitely the first time we’ve had a viola di gamba on a Souvenir release! Will cause some consternation to the confused at many an after hours. The closer is something more approaching the traditional driving F&K dancefloor sound, a lethal tool of pure grinding rhythm, textures provided by small synth details and a repeating vocal quack. Somehow the combination of the plucked string sounds, and some chopped early music snippets lift the mood, turning a seemingly dark beat into an unexpectedly soaring track.

    05. Tapesh - Generation (DeMarzo Remix) [Warung Recordings | WRG 002]

Following the success of its debut release, Warung Recordings presents its second EP. Once again the incomparable energy of Brazilian club appears on three tracks: the original remix of "Generation", signed by Tapesh, plus remixes signed by two big new talents: Hot Since 82 and DeMarzo.

    06. Miss Kittin - Life Is My Teacher [wSphere | 41032]

We never stop learning, and more we learn, more we know nothing…. Life Is My Teacher is the first EP announcing the release of my new album. It comes with Borderline’s remix, the exclusive “I.L.A.N.E.N.O.” track that I did with Lee Van Dowski and I take you on a trip to the beautiful “Tamarin Bay”.

On Soundcloud you get the single for free and you know how to find the full 4 track EP on iTunes, Beatport etc. Enjoy it, share it – thanks for your support!

Leftfield music for the masses! wSphere is a Wagram group (Nº1 French indie) new international label. Based in Paris, but with a global view, we aim to introduce exciting music to the World.

    07. Arash - Distant Voices (Shade Remix) (Distant Voices EP) [Silver Network | SILVER 036]

    See Track 02.

Ibiza Voice Review // The last two years have seen something of a minor revival for France’s Silver Network label. From Jef K’s super-hyped remix of The Gathering’s In My System to big releases from Death On The Balcony and Subb-an, the imprint has had its ear firmly fixed to the ground. Yet, Silver Network isn’t a label overly reliant on established names and safe bets. A point proven in their first release of 2013; an EP from unknown quantity Frankfurt producer Arash.

Tech-house number Distant Voices opens the EP. Tribal pads and a swelling bassline establish the heavy groove orientation that run through the entire record. Stabbing synths emerge early on, providing the track with a sharp melodic edge that fits rather neatly. All this is perfectly fine without being outstanding, until the arrival of a spoken-word sample sees the track take a sudden nosedive. “Which flower would you be?” asks the male voice, sounding like a new age conman on a cheap meditation cassette from the ’90s.

French producer Shade tones down the misjudged vocal and offsets it with big glorious claps laid down over the bassline. A warmer affair, engendered with the occasional shimmering synth or fizzing blip, it’s nearly eight minutes of an engaging, eclectic house. The press notes suggest this is the kind of joint that Derrick Carter would dig, and we don’t disagree.

Mind Games is stronger outing from Arash. The larger than life pads and oversized kicks play to a backdrop of black synths, growling vocals and shuffling percussion that expand and retract with rib-rattling prowess. A muscular tech-house affair stuffed with FX and a steady vigour, whilst it delivers some decent punches it never quite peaks as you hope it might. A good mid-mix tool, but lacking the fire-power to take things up a notch or two.

Remixing Mind Games, Jordan Peak offers the most radical outing on the EP. The bassline is jacked up and the percussion is hacked into shuffling, hip-jerking rhythms. A dazzling counterpart to the original, it’s a slice of rowdy tech-house that encompasses half a dozen on-trend sounds whilst retaining the soulful saturnine sound of the original.

Finally, Intimacy Mood presents itself as a digital bonus. A deep house number with a smultzy bassline, breezy kicks and a funk-kissed brass interlude it is as charming as it is unmemorable.

Distant Voices EP is a perfectly competent package, with more than a few tech-house numbers that will work well in deep or techy DJ sets. Yet listening to this, you can’t help but feel that you’ve heard it all before. Falling prey to occasional misjudgements and overly reliant on established tropes and, here’s hoping that Arash takes a few more risks with his next release.

    08. Andrea Giudice - Heard From Far (Year End EP) [Left'd | Leftltd011]

Leftroom’s sister imprint, Left’d, closes off 2012 with the aptly titled ‘Year End’ which comprises ten tracks from the likes of Classic’s No Dial Tone and Sam Russo as well as a host of new talent.

Set up to showcase upcoming talent, Left’d has steadily become, alongside Leftroom and Leftroom Ltd, a must check imprint. Musically, the imprint has explored many of the strands of modern house music while steadily building an impressive list of supporters.

‘Year End’ is the first of the new format of Left’d releases where the single format becomes an Extended Extended Player, making for a weighty, quarterly package of treats. In ‘Year End’ there’s a wide range of house leanings, from smooth modern deep house from Jammhot! and Jaimer Vincentie to late night, tripped out affairs from Sam Russo & Tom Web and No Dial Tone. Peak time isn’t ignored either, with punchy tackle coming in from Pierre Codarin and Anthonio Del Prete & Alex Magno.

As Left’d exists as a proving ground for future Leftroom artists, it certainly looks like 2013 will bright for the London-based imprint.

    09. KiNK vs. Marc Romboy - Delusion Of The Enemy (Sampledelics Vol. 2) [Systematic Recordings | SYST094-6]

After the debut release - Sampledelics Vol. 1' on Ovum end of 2011, Bulgaria based Strahil Velchev aka KiNK and Marc Romboy have teamed up again to deliver the second volume on Systematic

Recordings this time. The entire EP is a homage to the early 90s years when - a banana was just a banana' as Josh correcly says, hinting at the Zeitgeist of these times when people did not search for any certain genre of Electronic Music. - Over and out' is a obeisance to the Madchester times when the likes of Happy Mondays and Bizarre Inc. were huge and - Pump it' with ist dirty grooves renews the vibe of Dance Mania and DJ Deeon.

    10. Switchbox feat. Natz - Pirates Poetry (Jupiter Jazz Remix) (Pirates Poetry EP) [Ellum Audio | ELL010]

The constantly evolving Ellum Audio imprint welcomes German techno duo Switchbox and the irresistibly groovy ‘Pirates Poetry’ to the label. Label head Maceo Plex and wonder boy Danny Daze join forces as Jupiter Jazz to deliver a stellar remix, with a Switchbox remix of dreamAwaken’s ‘8 Bit In A Bit’ to round off.

The original ‘Pirates Poetry’ ticks all the boxes of an Ellum Audio classic, perfect for the big room at peak time with full fat squelchy bass-lines, seductive grooves and trippy FX. The sensual yet hypnotic vocal from NAtz sits seamlessly within the track to add to that all-important dance-floor trip.

Over on the B-side Maceo Plex and Danny Daze aka Jupiter Jazz step up to deliver a solid, heavy-duty remix filled with sonic acid naughtiness and pacey percussions – set to cause mayhem on the dance floor. With two industry heavy weights such as these combining forces there’s no doubt they are set to do some series damage.

For the last track on the release Switchbox deliver a knock out remix of ‘8 Bit In A Bit’ by Marcelo Storino Mortimer aka dreamAwaken. This deep and dark dance floor monster is equipped with rumbling synths and a powerful low end, deep and driving with an epic breakdown, perfect for the late night ravers.

Götz Bökler and Nik Bohn aka Switchbox have been making music and preforming together since the late 90s but also work individually as Goetzlich and Nuke. Having spent some years exploring different genres in other projects, the pair have found the way back to their roots with the re-launch of Switchbox, giving them a new lust to once again explore the techy way of the electronic universe. Since their first release on Sprout Music, Switchbox has received international support by some hugely respected artists like Jamie Stevens, Meat Katie, Dubfire, Sharam, Dr Motte and D-nox and are currently preparing a live act to tour with, as well as working on new tracks for their first album. This latest release is undoubtedly the perfect addition to the Ellum Audio catalogue.
