    [LDN 25.01] Werk with Citizen

    Friday 25th January
    at the Basing House

    22.00-04.00

    WERK

Citizen [Love Fever Records / Madtech]
Stevie T, Danny Langan, Andy King

House music shouldn't be complicated, at least that's what the people behind WERK think. Rather than sticking to one thinly defined sub-genre, why not play the very best music you can get your hands on? Whether that's disco, boogie, afro, good-old-fashion house music: or anything else for that matter. Launching in January, WERK aims to to inject some of the wide-ranging musical vibe that, we feel, is sometimes hard to find in London's house scene.

Our first guest, CITIZEN, is someone who gets this entirely. Barely into his 20's, the Nottingham producer has already peaked the attention of house music know-it-alls like Kerri Chandler, Love Fever Records and the guys at Secretsundaze. His productions mix the bump of UK Garage with the emotiveness of NY House. Even though the nostalgia is there for everyone to hear it does not define Citizen's music: '90's influences are handled with care and used with the highest skill to produce some wonderful modern dance music. What's more Citizen is also a pretty spectacular DJ, the kind that's not afraid to take big risks or switch things up entirely. Frankly, we're excited to have this fast rising star playing for us while he's still playing venues as small as the perfectly formed Basing House.

DJ support on the night comes from music journalist and man about town Stevie T, as well as WERK founder Danny Langan and the underrated Andy King.

A cheap and cheerful guestlist will be available on request. (If you know the party organisers, just give them a shout to get on.)

    WERK it till you drop!

    General admission - £10.00
