      Release Notes:

      01. Tiefschwarz feat. Argenis Brito - No Message (David K's Allegro Remix) Souvenir Music | SOUVENIR052]

Hot on the heels of release 048 from Tiefschwarz with Argenis Brito on vocal duty, comes a neat remix package with contributions from David K, Strangers in Heaven and Re-UP.

French producer David K has released on all the major Parisian labels, Freak n’ Chic, Rue De Plaisance, Jetaime amongst others. Here he serves up a double dose, his ‘Allegro’ rework anything but, the vocals twisted out of recognition into a muttering chorus of demonic gremlins, while the mutant drums steadily beat out an ominous tone. A distant marimba and the odd piano chord that’s left hanging, a quizzical non sequitur, lift the melody. On the flip, David’s ‘Grand Piano’ pairs a shuffling, almost jazzy beat with a shower of tinkling pianos, the vocals washed with melancholy from the keystrokes that slowly morph into plucked strings.

Souvenir’s very own mysterious twosome, Strangers in Heaven, beef up the kick and make the bassline snake and swirl, turning up the groove factor. The vocals provide respite from the tension, while skittering synth sounds come up close against the hypnotic beat. Upon You stalwarts Re-UP take it deep, a throbbing bassline playing off the tightest of snare hits, a squelching synth hitting suddenly and a distended voice appearing too out of nowhere. It’s a total transformation, none of the original parts distinguishable, as if seen through a prism of the unsettling.

      02. BP - Inspirado Por Usted (Guy J Mix) [Lost & Found | LF005]

With Guy J’s “Vaga” and “We Do It Best” (LF004) still ringing in many an ear over the festive period, it’s time to welcome in the New Year in style with the debut release on Lost & Found from BP, a super talented Belgian DJ and producer.

Patrick Bruyndonx aka BP is resident DJ at the legendary Cafe d’Anvers Club in Antwerp and “Inspirado Por Usted” is one of those spine-tingling, genre-bending, inspirational tracks that cannot be forgotten. This sprawling tribal masterpiece was the first track that he produced under his BP moniker has been lurking in the wings since he first met up with Guy J in Amsterdam in 2010.

“I still find it one of my special tracks and it will always be like that, being the first BP production. Inspirado por usted means inspired by you, and it’s creation was inspired by a DJ set of Riccardo Villalobos when he played at FUSE in Belgium some time ago.” [BP]

“When I first heard this track, around 2 years ago now, it stayed in my mind, but it was before I had the label or even a plan to have my own label. I told Patrick that if I had a label I would sign it right away and I feel so lucky to now have such an amazing piece of music as part of Lost & Found." [Guy J]

Guy J is a young artist with exceptional musical talent, and his superb remix of “Inspirado Por Usted” weaves more hypnotic magic into the proceedings creating a suitably powerful track that is yet another masterful creation. There can be no doubt that he is one of the standout electronic artists in the world today.

Having become one of the most sophisticated and emotive producers in electronic music over the last decade, Guy J launched his own Lost & Found label on 23rd July 2012. This exciting new platform will allow him to release not only his own critically lauded, sensual, hypnotic take on house music, deeply textured techno and wondrous ambient material, but also give him the freedom to sign and nurture new talent like Guy Mantzur, Sahar Z, Yariv Bernstein and BP and also release hidden gems from some exceptional established artists like Kevin Yost(LF002).

Buenoes Aires producer Daneel is well known for his unofficial bootlegs and re-edits of tracks like Depeche Mode's 'Free Love' which was a big track for Hernán Cattáneo, and Moby's 'Inside'.

Daneel has appeared on Resident 082 remixing Hugo Ibarra - Ambar [Stripped Digital], with previous appearances on 067 (with an Old School Remix of Mario Puccio's 'Serenade'), opening046 with his original 'Melancholy' and first coming to our attention on Resident 022 remixing Enrico Trevis 'Spirits'.

      04. Totem Pole - Andromeda [unreleased]

Totem Pole (Alejandro Gonzalez from Mendoza, Argentina) was last seen on Resident 033 and 081with Dark Chapel [Stripped Digital | 114SD].

      05. Jimmy Van M - QR ft. Miell [RLS | RLS01]

RELEASE celebrate the launch of their new sub label RLS and also the first solo EP from Jimmy Van M since 2006! RLS from RELEASE will focus on the darker side of underground house.

Jimmy provides two amazingly cool originals and a remix under his new tougher Van M guise!

A legend on the underground scene and a man who's been at the top since the very early 90's. This man has done it all! With residencies at Twilo, Jimmy has played to packed crowds across the globe! Resident on Sasha and Digweed's Delta Heavy and Northern Exposure tours... Jimmy is a hero and inspiration to many.

The mix kicks off with QR featuring Miell, a rumbling hip shaker on the darker side of house, with plenty of cut up vocals, cool fx and filthy stabs over a rolling bassline that sucks you in and spits you out wanting more.

Van M supplies the remix for QR - stripping things back and gets serious on us with tripped out fx and tantalising percussion over the occasional stab and freaky sound from the original. An amazing remix.

Closing the package is BAAB (Dub Mix) with its hypnotic deep bassline, while sci-fi synths add the riff and tinkling sounds meet incessant percussion. deep, dark and very tasty.

A superb first release for RLS, quality oozing out all over the place.

      06. Spitzer - Clunker feat. Fab (Avatism Remix) [InFiné Music | iF3022]

French electronic dance duo Spitzer just released a brand new lovely black-and-white music video for their track Clunker featuring guest vocalist Fab from Frustration. The track is taken from the recently released album The Call and it marks a nodding reference to Fugazi producer Steve Albini, whom the band count as a major influence.

Spritzer // As teenagers, Damien – on drums – and Matthieu – on guitar – were already using pop and punk compositions to release their angst, summoning an American vocalist from time to time to sound more legitimate. Album track “Clunker”, which features Fab from Frustration (a band signed to Parisian imprint Born Bad), is an unmistakable salute to the alt-rock scene of the 90s in general and to Fugazi in particular. If “Clunker” may sound a bit odd with regards to the general post-trance atmosphere of their debut album “The Call”, the track is one they love the most.

On screen, “Clunker” is a video directed by Benjamen Malherbe, half way between Tarantino´s Death Proof and Disney´s the Litlle Mermaid (watch it on the Noisey Youtube channel). As single available from 21st january 2013, the raw, flammable and mutant material of the original has been reworked for the dark side of the dancefloors by Alejandro Paz (Comeme, Huntleys and Palmers - Chilie), Avatism (Vakant, Souvenir, Dumb Unit – Italy), Subarys (France) & InFiné freshly signed duo, The Same (Poland).

      Released by: InFiné Music
      Release/catalogue number: iF3022
      Release date: Jan 21, 2013

Italian born Berlin-based, Avatism's moody small-room music has been released on labels such as Vakant, Dumb-Unit and Haunt. Much to everyone’s surprise, his recent releases, doom-laced live sets and collaborations have lead him to rise to similar popularity to other artists with more interesting biographies. He can be booked as part of the Harry Klein crew.

      07. Deepfunk & Kassey Voorn - Long Time Coming (Oliver Lieb Remix) [microCastle | Promo]

Teutonic legend Oliver Lieb has recent featured on Resident 082 with 'The Shortest Day' [Tulipa Recordings | TULIPA044] and 077 with a remix of Mauro Norti's 'Last Day' [Wide Angle Recordings | WA039]

      Bio

Frankfurt based DJ & producer Lieb is involved in the production of electronic music since 1988. With more than 250 singles and albums including remixes for Faithless, Moby, Snap, Yello, Human League, Mory Kante, Utah Saints to name a few, he made it in the premier leage of international producers and keeps surprising and amazing people with his extraordinary sounds and diversity.

At the age of 14 he started playing bass in several Funk/Soul/Jazz bands. Oliver also got in touch with electronic music (Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk,Yello, Jean-Michel Jarre) and discovered a new and an endless horizon of expressing himself.

In late 1989 Oliver’s first record FORCE LEGATO “System” got released by Dorian Gray resident DJ Torsten Fenslau on his Abfahrt label. The single gained great worldwide reactions and almost hit the official German charts.

In the years to follow Oliver released everything in the electronic genres from downtempo and chill-out to hard experimental techno and trance. His project Spicelab on Sven Väth’s legendary Harthouse label established a platform for his highly appreciated sounds, which developed into one of the most important projects of the label including the release of three full length album releases.

Oliver never wanted to focus on just one specific genre he simply created several pseudonyms for each of his different styles. His LSG and Paragliders releases on Superstition Rec. are still considered as one of the most influencing and timeless trance projects and were developed for more than 10 years and 5 Albums.

His maxis and albums got licensed on Hooj Choons, Yoshitoshi, Platipus, Duty Free, Magic Muzic and many others.

After leaving Superstition in 2004 it was time for doing something new especially since the whole music scene went through big changes and somehow redefined itself. After locking himself into his studio to create new sounds and going into all kind of different directions Oliver announced the start of his own label “Maschine” in summer 2005 which is distributed worldwide by “Neuton” and online exclusively through Beatport and released his first single “Solieb - Circus Maximus” in July. The reactions were great and two more maxis followed until the end of 2005. Maschine is about to turn into a main source for high quality forward electronic music and grabs more and more peoples attention.

In 2007 Oliver started a new company doing mastering and cutting vinyl. After all this was a logic step since he is known for a very high sound standard on his own productions and so he added some high end analog mastering gear to his studio to guarantee sound quality enhancement also for his clients.

After the endless process of planning, constructions and moving in to the new studio and finally focusing on the new company he took a bit of a break from producing and djing - also to focus on a new sound and directions.
In 2010 Oliver started a new label Solieb Digital at Beatport to re-release his old music after re-mastering and polishing the tracks. So far his Recycle or Die release as well as two albums from Spicelab and just now the L.S.G. – The Black Album Remastered Compilation were released.

Since late 2010/early 2011 Oliver has started working again on new productions. The first release Parallax was an exclusive track for Digweeds Structures CD followed in July by the Oliver Lieb - Epsilon Eridani EP - both on Bedrock.

After upgrading and changing his studio setup in Summer 2011 he also appeared as a remixer again starting with Ioan Gamboa, Davide Cali and Microtrauma´s "Aktin" on Microtonal.

In February 2012 Oliver Lieb together with Jimmy Van M. released a mix CD as „The Audible Suspects" on Bedrock that was highly appreciated both for the outstanding overall sound quality and the track selection. Oliver´s remix on 99percent recordings of Fran Von Vie „Albatros“ is followed by releases on Rezongar Music, Apwood Recordings, Diametral and Tulipa Recordings.

      08. Dave Seaman & John 00 Fleming - Pixelated (Dibby Dougherty & David Young Remix) [Outside The Box Music | OTB077]

Eelke Kleijn's Outside The Box Music returns this week for its first release of 2013 and easily one of the labels biggest to date. Dave Seaman and John OO Fleming's 'Pixilated' was released in October of2012 and it went down as one of the year's biggest records. OTB label boss Eelke Kleijn provided a dynamic remix and the two versions from Dave and John were fresh sounding and perfect for the dance floor. Now for the labels 77th overall release we see a new set of remixes for Pixilated from: Dibby Dougherty & David Young, Jamie Stevens and Incolumis.

The first remix comes from Dibby Dougherty and David Young. The Irish duo began working together in early 2011 and have enjoyed immense success ever since. One of their first productions together 'Tiger Forest' was signed to Bedrock and further originals and remixes then appeared on Parquet, Flow, Natura Sonoris and Manual. This is Dibby and David's first appearance on Outside The Box and they've turned in one of their best remixes to date. Dibby & David have taken all the great elements from the original and twisted them into a modern day melodic techno bomb. Filled with glitchy sound design, trippy effects and a wonderfully hypnotic groove the track rolls with great momentum towards the main break. Here a subtly building groove creates some nice tension before the full groove comes crashing back in along with the unmistakable siren from the original for what should result is a massive dance floor moment.

The next remix is supplied by Jamie Stevens who has achieved an amazing level of critical and commercial success over the course of his career. As one of Australia's most talented and sought after music producers, he has proven his skill in professional sound design, music scores for film and contemporary dance music. As the founding member of Infusion, the much-loved Australian electronic live act, he's left his mark around the globe, headlining some of the biggest and most respected clubs including; Fabric- London, Pacha - Buenos Aires, Womb- Tokyo and festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, Roskilde and Creamfields in Moscow, Brazil, UK and Argentina. In his home country, Infusion received 2 prestigious ARIA awards for their work. Jamie's 'Pixilated' interpretation goes down as one of his biggest party records to date. Entitled 'Full Res' Jamie's mix comes with an undeniable rolling energy that's accented with a wealth of spacey atmospherics and irresistible hooks. A monumentally large moment comes when a long build supplies some screaming tension before a gargantuan bass line drops in and ups the energy tenfold. The is sure fire dance floor madness, don't miss it.

The final remix on the package comes from Incolumis who is making his debut on Outside The Box here. Jani Rantanen hails from Tampere, Finland and has appeared on John OO Fleming's Joof label and also Bonzai. Jani draws inspiration from Oliver Lieb and it is coming through quite well on his 'Pixilated' remix. Based around an incredibly groovy low end Incolumis has crafted a wonderful futuristic sounding techno interpretation here. It's the perfect complement to the previous two mixes as it has a moody almost brooding vibe about that is sure to change the atmosphere of any room for the better. Fabulous work from Incolumis and a massive release from Outside The Box.
