        About Simon Garcia

'Brilliant, pure dancefloor heaven' - Laurent Garnier

Born in late '70s, Simon grew up listening legendary bands such as Depeche Mode, New Order or Kraftwerk, but also enjoying genres like Blaxploited Funk, Latin-Rock, Rare Disco, '90s House or Acid-Jazz, among many other things. A musical bagage that later would found an artistic point in common on himself.

Nowadays, Simon has seen his works released on labels such as Poker Flat, Supplement Facts, Perspectiv, Dieb Audio, OM Records, Cécille, or Composite among other high-profile labels, either with his real name or his aliases Kornelius or Larakki, releasing original tracks or remixing for the likes of DJ Yellow, Sasse, Matthias Vogt (from Motorcitysoul), Lee Burrdige, Tomoki Tamura, Wagon Cookin' and others.

His genuine, timeless, personal, hypnotic and futuristic sound is already getting support for the likes of many of the most respected worldwide tastemakers: Laurent Garnier, Seth Troxler, D'Julz or Deetron, who recently remixed the latest Simon's release on the Ripperton's Perspectiv label, and of course Guy Gerber and Steve Bug, who with Simon has edited several releases on their own Supplement Facts and Poker Flat labels. A kind of sound that led him to get invited from the world's leading sound-designing brand Loopmasters to join their prestigious Artist Series collection. The library got an extraordinary response, and in the beginning of 2013 he will start his very own collection 'Simon Garcia's Hypnotic Vibes'.

        04. Clarian - Remove Control [Visionquest | VQ 024]

Steadily mining gold in an ever-evolving electronic landscape, the Visionquest imprint gets set to unleash an incredibly special 6-track EP from Clarian - one half of the supreme duo Footprintz. Collaborating with the always-innovative Guy Gerber on the opener, Clarian voyages solo throughout the rest of the EP – a collective of ‘Chemical Gardens’ for a sonically re-imagined Blade Runner kingdom.

Beach Boys oohs on top of Camino 808 lines with Morriconne style piano licks over a zombie meets deep house track - the ‘Chemical Gardens EP’ is a patchwork of cross-genres and moods. The A-side covers ethereal sunrise magic and cosmic oddities opening with ‘Claire’ featuring Guy Gerber - an emotive beauty in which dubby beats dissolve into a motif of synth stabs, sweet electronic melodies and rising waves of filtered vox. ‘Destroy, She Says’ is a haunting dream of hypnotic keys and heavy drums while ‘Renaissance’ is simply a magical set closer that alludes to an innocent era of rave.

Taking the listener deeper into the night ‘Remove Control’ kicks off the B-side with a jagged electronic bassline tight snares and shakers and a powerful vocal while ‘Through Your Mind feat. J’ drops a heavy dose of acid with a mechanical sleazy vibe. Closing track ‘U’ is all about the build against the naked drum groove, moody bass synths and echoing vox. Clarian’s chemical gardens and Visionquest are clearly meant to be and these shimmering towers of sound are likely to remain a highlight of the imprints illustrious cannon. A truly innovative and groundbreaking release, that further cements Clarian’s standing as an incredible talent.

        05. Darren Flecta - In Moments (Luis Bondio Remix) [Hope Recordings | HOPE109]

Classound Recordings owner and Córdoba native Luis Bondio returns to Resident as part of a special 5-track Hope Recordings Renaissance Sampler for Nick Warren's follow on from Hernán's Masters Series, which continues the ethos of bringing an incredible & eclectic mix of tracks while having a South American influence within the sound:

“The mix was a joy to do. It had been a while since I had done a downtempo mix for a compilation and with the success of my Soundgarden Radio show I thought the time was right for one again. CD1 is a mix of new and old, the ambient mixes are always a bit tougher to find all new material for, and tunes like the Bubble Club track were missed by a lot of people when it was released last year. CD2 sums up where I am as a DJ right now: a mixture of deep melodic house and techno plus a euphoric ending. All the producers really did a great job for me and the thanks as always goes to them” [Nick Warren]

        06. Layo & Bushwacka! - Delta Ahead (Uner Remix) [Olmeto Records | OLMETO38]

Rising star Uner delivers a fine remix of 'Delta Ahead' from Layo & Bushwacka's 'Rising & Falling' LP [OLMETO034]. This remix package also includes a re-rub from Maher Daniel.

Layo & Bushwacka! present "Delta Ahead", the fifth instalment from their highly acclaimed final artist album "Rising & Falling" [OLMETO034]. Atmospheric and beautifully constructed, "Delta Ahead" further showcases the UK duos production prowess, and is backed by an equally impressive remix from producer of the moment Uner.

        Bio

UNER is one of the most important names of the new generation of Spanish electronic music producers. His musical training allowed him to develop at a very early age a different dance music concept, based on the pleasure for harmony and the search for a unique, personal sound. This has lead him to edit for labels like Diynamic (where he's an active member and has edited his most celebrated works to date, "Raw Sweat" and "Bassboot"), 2020 Vision, Get Physical, Defected or CR2 to mention a few. UNER has earned the respect of the music industry with talent and work: names like Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox or Luciano play his music on a regular basis; clubs like Berlin's Watergate or Space ibiza book him oftenly and his number of fans increases by the day; all of this because of what he does best, his music.

Apart from traveling around the world as a Dj, in 2011 UNER presented his live gigs, an audiovisual concept in which he uses state-of-the-art software and hardware (from iPads to mini midi keyboards) to explore his most solid, personal side. The artistic expansion of the Catalonian producer will go on during the following months with the creation of several artist albums where he'll express his way of understanding electronic music from a musical point of view and from the centre of the dance-floor. UNER's bound to reach higher tops with the only limit of his music... so there's still loads to see, listen and dance.

        07. Eelke Kleijin - Flierefluiter [Outside The Box Music | OTB078]

Eelke Kleijn's Outside The Box Music label is back this week for a remix edition of his 'Kitten of Mass Destruction' EP which was released in October of 2012. 'Eenvoud' was considered by many to be one of the Dutch producers best melodic records to date while 'Kitten of Mass Destruction' struck a chord with many with for its quirky brilliance. The new interpretations here are provided by Navar, MUUI and Praveen Achary.

The first interpretation comes from Eelko Wijnja aka Navar who is making his first appearance on Outside The Box here. The Dutch producer has been a firm favourite of Guy J and Hernan Cattaneo in recent months and we love his deep, hypnotic style as well. Here he reinvents 'Eenvoud' into a smooth, melodic techno construction that is full of vitality. The warm bass tones, incandescent electronics and eerily subtle vocal pads create a wonderful flow full of emotions as the track reaches the main break. Here the low end really shines with surging walls of chord changes which push the emotions higher. The drop peaks with some squirrely electronics and tension filled tones which should do some serious damage on the dance floor as the warm groove drops back in for an epic moment.

The next interpretation comes from MUUI who overhauls 'Kitten of Mass Destruction' quite nicely. If you are not familiar with MUUI then you are really missing out, he's an Australian producer with an incredibly unique and eclectic style which is full of fresh sounds and ideas. For his 'Kitten of Mass Destruction' remix MUUI has crafted an incredibly funky, low slung groove which should create some serious momentum on the floor. The glassy bells provide some cool melodic hooks and the piece flows extremely well with some enchanting atmospheres elevating the senses as the track reaches a smooth apex.

The final remix on the package comes from Praveen Achary who is making his debut on Outside The Box here. The Indian producer has continued to rise through the electronic music underground in 2012 with appearances on Baires Records, Mirabilis and Proton's heavily influential Compiled & Mixed series. Praveen's 'Juicebox' radio show continues to dominate the friskyRadio airwaves with the freshest electronic music and a forthcoming label under the 'Juicebox Music' name is set to launch later on this year as well. With 2013 now underway Praveen has just come off a spectacular single for Cid Inc's Replug imprint entitled 'Space Machine'. The production has enjoyed an extended stay in the Beatport progressive house charts and the Cid Inc. Remix was selected as Beatport's Must Hear Progressive House record for the week of its release. For his 'Flierefluiter' interpretation Praveen has crafted a deep and sultry tech house rework that really hits the spot. A remarkably spacious and well shaped bass line sits at the foundation while some beautifully textured tones and aquatic electronics tease the senses nicely throughout. Another top production from Praveen who we expect big things from in 2013.

        08. Matías Chilano - Shockroom [unreleased]

This time Matías Chilano hits Resident with an original, after remixes of Verve's 'Enchant' [Postulate Records | POSTULATE003] and Mehmet Akar & Dr. Avalance's 'Marmara' [Per-vurt Récords | PV-047] featured on Residents 084 & 046.

Matías was born in Río Cuarto, Córdoba (Argentina) where he studied, piano and drums, later becoming interested in electronics sounds. In 2005 he began producing his own tracks since the production of electronic music became his priority, with releases on LuPS Records, Mistique Music, PurpleCat Digital, No Smoking Recordings, Underground City Music and TripleOne.

        09. Kassey Voorn & Deepfunk - Long Time Coming (Where You Are EP) [microCastle | MCSL029]

The first microCastle release of 2013 is ready, it features a heavyweight collaboration between two of the industry's finest producers: Kassey Voorn & deepfunk. Their 'Where You Are EP' comes with two brand new original productions along with remixes from NHAR & Oliver Lieb. Coming soon!
