                Release Notes:

                01. Clarian & Guy Gerber - Claire [Visionquest Records | VQ 024]

Steadily mining gold in an ever-evolving electronic landscape, the Visionquest imprint gets set to unleash an incredibly special 6-track EP from Clarian - one half of the supreme duo Footprintz. Collaborating with the always-innovative Guy Gerber on the opener, Clarian voyages solo throughout the rest of the EP – a collective of ‘Chemical Gardens’ for a sonically re-imagined Blade Runner kingdom.

Beach Boys oohs on top of Camino 808 lines with Morriconne style piano licks over a zombie meets deep house track - the ‘Chemical Gardens EP’ is a patchwork of cross-genres and moods. The A-side covers ethereal sunrise magic and cosmic oddities opening with ‘Claire’ featuring Guy Gerber - an emotive beauty in which dubby beats dissolve into a motif of synth stabs, sweet electronic melodies and rising waves of filtered vox. ‘Destroy, She Says’ is a haunting dream of hypnotic keys and heavy drums while ‘Renaissance’ is simply a magical set closer that alludes to an innocent era of rave.

Taking the listener deeper into the night ‘Remove Control’ kicks off the B-side with a jagged electronic bassline tight snares and shakers and a powerful vocal while ‘Through Your Mind feat. J’ drops a heavy dose of acid with a mechanical sleazy vibe. Closing track ‘U’ is all about the build against the naked drum groove, moody bass synths and echoing vox. Clarian’s chemical gardens and Visionquest are clearly meant to be and these shimmering towers of sound are likely to remain a highlight of the imprints illustrious cannon. A truly innovative and groundbreaking release, that further cements Clarian’s standing as an incredible talent.

                02. Anthony Middleton - Till The End Of... (Just Be Remix) (Insomniac Nights EP) [Get Physical Music | GPM210]

Anthony Middleton - you might know him as one half of Audiofly. The UK born producer and longtime friend came to us with a selection of tracks he produced on his own and dubbed it the Insomniac Nights EP.

First up on the 4 track effort is 'Till The End Of...', a cool number in the style Anthony is known for. Relaxed, raw and heavy. Anthony uses vocal samples to great effect here as he plays with the bass-line, achieving a brilliant atmosphere fit for deep summer nights or fresh winter mornings.

Next, Anthony calls on Just Be for his take on the matter, who then replies with an up-tempo version. Adding various elements to the soundscape, raising the tension and darkening the mood, Just Be's mix breathes a new air into the original.

'Things Don't Change People Do' is a buttery blend of percussion and warm chords, creating a relaxed mood to swing your hips. The track extends just over the 11 minute mark, giving you time to get into the mood and lose yourself on the dance-floor, just exactly as you should.

The last slot on the EP is home to 'Things Don't Change, People Do Too', a variant of the previous track, it adds a bit more energy to the floor with its space-y synth lines and careful use of reverb on the percussion. Pads rise and fall, adding a dynamic flow to the track and keeping things interesting throughout.

And if that wasn't enough for you, we've got another more. If you buy the entire release, well give you 'Momentary Lapse of Bacon' free, and in two flavours! This is a bit more relaxed, with an after hour touch to it. The main synth line floats beautifully against the deep percussion, creating a unique blend of groove and rhythm.

                03. Miguel Bastida & Florian Kaltstrøm - Glasso Phone (Philipp Straub & CaTekk Remix) [Bedrock Digital | Beddigi-30]

You may recognise “Behind The Mirror” as being the excellent closing track on CD2 of John Digweed’s latest “Live In London” 4xCD mix compilation on Bedrock. Spain’s Miguel Bastida and Austria’s Florian Kaltstrøm have joined forces with Florian’s fellow countrymen Emil Berliner, Philip Straub and Christoph Abele (aka caTekk) to great a stunning 4-track EP to kick off 2013 in style.

“Behind The Mirror” is all about elegant rhythms, powerful percussion, deep, driving bass and brooding atmospheres, making it a standout track. Emil Berliner (who takes his artist name from the German-born American inventor who is best known for developing the disc record gramophone in the 1890’s) takes things into deeper tech-house territory with his delicious dub-influenced tech re-work.

“Glasso Phone” develops a more organic vibe with vocal snippets over a hypnotic, hissing, percussive backdrop. This is a theme that is expanded upon by Philipp Straub and CaTekk as they develop an absorbing rollercoaster bass heavy groove with their unforgettable remix.

The “De Barcelona a Viena EP” is the first of many exciting new releases coming on Bedrock in 2013. Watch out!

                04. Shpongle feat. Anabel Englund - Nothing Is Something Worth Doing (Santiago Garcia Unofficial Remix) [Soundcloud | Free Download]

I really like Shpongle, so I decided to create my own version about "Nothing is Something Worth Doing". Also I tried to find a great vocal for this one and make it more commercial and glamorous, and I found Anabel Englund, and the vocal that she made for Lee Foss in his track called "Electricity"

This is the combination of a great music from Shpongle, outstanding vocal from Anabel and my touch. Hope you like it, and find what i felt when i created this song. Free Download!!! [Santiago Garcia]

Taken from 2009's 'Ineffable Mysteries From Shpongleland' [Twisted Records ‎| TWSLP36] ‘Nothing is Something Worth Doing’ is a grounded yet floaty work featuring a sophisticated tonal and harmonic palette, six-and-a-half minutes of timelessness before fading into the long-awaited ‘Ineffable Mysteries’. With original atmospheric and vocal samples from India, this track’s simple beginnings lead to a strong rhythmic drive and incredible sonic manipulations blending Raja Ram’s flute, Indian vocals, and synthesized creations.

Electronic music pioneers Simon Posford and Raja Ram have continued to push the envelope and break even more boundaries to create yet another sonic masterpiece: the much-awaited fourth Shpongle album.

There are languages here that Shpongle fans will know and love as much as their previous work, and yet there are some massive leaps forward in terms of production techniques, sonic trickery, structure, and direction compared to all of the previous outings to date. With influences drawn from anywhere from Steve Reich and Mike Oldfield to the Batman movies and beyond, this really is another ‘over the top’ record in terms of production skills, tonal textures, and original ideas from Shpongle. It is rich in detail and emotion, in worldly and otherworldly samples and inspiration, and in harmonic and melodic construction.

                05. Andromo - Full Effect [Fade Records | FD 107]

Andromo arrives to us from one the new emerging Central American scenes in El Salvador. Adromo, given name Alejandro Martinez, is responsible for the growing underground movement and events bringing international touring DJs to showcase the underground sound. His Rainforest podcast series is a highlight in the region as well.

                06. Fran Von Vie - Raining Since 87 [unreleased]

Fran Von Vie is becoming increasingly familiar to Resident listeners, with his 'Wake Me Up When Everything Has Changed' being one of many highlights on Hernán's recent Renaissance Masters Series.

Co-incidently Fran was last seen on resident 080 with an unknown track made with fellow Spaniard Cumiks, who provides track 8 on this weeks show.

                Bio

Menorca's Fran Von Vie is always looking for new sounds and structures. He doesn’t believe in genres and makes music from the heart, believing it’s supposed to be felt, not understood.

In Summer 2010 he started to take a serious interest in producing professional electronic tracks for the dancefloor. In 2011 he released a remix of Plastikman "Ask yourself" at the prestigious m_nus label and also a remix of Sasha - Cut me down was released on Sasha's new imprint "Last Night on Earth". His "Forbidden Places" released on DAR label climb the charts to the Top1 on vinyl sales.

in 2012 he joined the roster of 99percent and is working on a special project where he will be remixed by some of the world's hottest producers. His first release Albatros is already making big waves and is remixed by the legendary Oliver Lieb. One thing's for sure, you ain't seen nothing yet from this guy.

In 2013 Von Vie signed an Ep on Hernan Cattaneo's imprint SUDBEAT and Hernan includes one of his works "Wake Me Up When Everything Has Changed" on his acclaimed Renaissance "The Masters Series".

                07. Darin Epsilon - Shine The Light (Ryan Davis Reconstruction) [Hope Recordings | HOPE109]

After Luis Bondio's track last week we get another look at the special 5-track Hope Recordings Renaissance Sampler for Nick Warren's follow on from Hernán's Masters Series, which continues the ethos of bringing an incredible & eclectic mix of tracks. Here talented Berliner Ryan Davis provides the remix of Avalon resident Darin Epsilon's new track:

“The mix was a joy to do. It had been a while since I had done a downtempo mix for a compilation and with the success of my Soundgarden Radio show I thought the time was right for one again. CD1 is a mix of new and old, the ambient mixes are always a bit tougher to find all new material for, and tunes like the Bubble Club track were missed by a lot of people when it was released last year. CD2 sums up where I am as a DJ right now: a mixture of deep melodic house and techno plus a euphoric ending. All the producers really did a great job for me and the thanks as always goes to them” [Nick Warren]

                08. Cumiks - Six Feet Above [Latencia Records | LTNC002]

Our second release has arrived embracing a young and talented duo that has widened the range of deep electronic possibilities. After editing with prestigious labels like Renaissance, Eklektsh and Dubmetrical. Cumiks have created this new EP filled with hypnotic sound nuances and danceable vibes. The first song, 'Six Feet Under' captivates you from the very first beat. The atmosphere, packed with acidic touches and sinuous vocals, work together without dropping a single bit of the groove. You are easily engulfed into the beat and find it hard to escape. 'Six Feet Above' tells a different story with its deep bass and melodic harmonies, constantly moving you through a mesmerising audio journey.

                09. Max Cooper feat. Braids - Pleasures (Andy Arias Remix) [Fields | unreleased]

This is a competition entry from Andy Arias, who coincidently supported Max Cooper in December at Aquabarra in San Luis, a province near the geographical centre of Argentina on the 32° South parallel.

You can download Andy's set here >> andy arias live at contrast

For the debut release from the newly minted label Fields, the London-based imprint recruited Max Cooper for an unexpected collaboration with Canadian avant-pop outfit BRAIDS entitled Conditions One. That EP's opening number - the driving, ethereal techno track "Pleasures" - has now found its way to Beatport Play, and we invite our community of producers to rework its icy tones into something altogether new. The winning remixer will take home Native Instruments Komplete 8 along with software from Cytomic and Liine.
                sigpicSimonR

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.
