ARTIST: FRANCESCO TARANTINI
TITLE: NEAPOLIS EP
LABEL: ANALOG RECORDS
RELEASE DATE: 25TH FEBRUARY
With earlier releases for the likes of Bouq, Nite Grooves, King Street Sounds and Salted already under his belt, Italian producer Francesco Tarantini sets the bar pretty high when it comes to the labels he puts his name to. His return to the burgeoning Paris Based Analog imprint emphasises the point too, with the Neapolis EP one that’s littered with atmospheric planes from start to finish.
The skipping beats, deep-as-you-like bassline and sliced vocals that encompass the opening track “Chiaia”, make for a real treat; the type of which is likely to appeal to discerning DJs cut from a Loco Dice-type cloth.
“Diego” is similarly styled, albeit with a host of more ominous sounds and intricate rhythmic arrangements. “Vesi” then harks back to times of yore, with its barrage of hats and ubiquitous piano keys the sort of track that’ll prompt the proverbial ‘damage’ on many a discerning dancefloor.
"Mezzocannone" is the last of the originals, with its complex drum patterns and groove-fuelled underbelly the sort of record that helps the night develop at a steady and consistent pace. A dub mix of “Chiaia” then proves the last piece in what’s an extremely tasty tech-house puzzle. With form like this, chances are we’ll be hearing a lot more from Mr. Tarantini in 2013…
