I actually thought rooting will allow you to install different variations of Android. So this is not much different from jailbreaking iPhones.

Was hoping they would return to the squarer shape like the mockup Feather posted and teh S2.

man I have been PRAYING for a return to the squared off industrial-ish design form-factor rather than the vag-complementing powder pack that the S3 and now S4 have become. Just like every major sequel ends up being a disaster, Samsung has dropped it on it's foot with the S4.

Negative I'm gonna switch from Sammy to HTC this time. Though I'm praying that the iPhone 6 comes out this Oct too.

Done with the Plasticy / larger phones. I used the +5" Notes and they were a P.I.T.A for daily portability. Size, superior photography (be it 4 MP), build construction (solid aluminum), higher PPI, and brilliant update of the HTC Sense is what makes the HTC a better option for me.

No I believe iPhone 5s will be announced by June. If the iPad 6-month launch sequence is a give-away, then we should hopefully expect Apple to follow suit with its bread-and-butter product.

kamal, how many phones to you go through in a year? I know korean chicks who do 3-4. edit, not breaking them, just getting bored/being sluts and chasing the new shiny thing

I generally go through the 2 year cycle. I have a BB through work and only a couple of years ago, got myself an actual smartphone (seeing how BBs were taking a short dive down the deep end of smartness). During the last couple of years, I got a SGSII which I traded up for a Sammy Note, used that for a year, now I'm using my wife's retired iPhone 4 until my 2 years finishes and I will likely dive into, either the HTC One or the new iPhone 6 (if it's out by that time) or if I'm lucky, sell her old unlocked iPhone 4 and get both

I repair cell phones as part of my job. I can say that the S3/S4 are the WORST phones you could buy. Their obsession with trying to make the thinnest, lightest, largest screen phone has compromised durability. The S3's touch screen shatters at sometimes the slightest jostle and then in order to repair it it costs at least 200 American bucks cause the LCD is so thin that you have to destroy it to repair it.

Kamal has the best idea. iPhones and the HTC One are durable, thin and light. Toughest phone on the market though is the Nokia Lumia 920, that however has the Windows OS.

One of the reasons I am leaving Iphone is Itunes and the fact that I can use the droid as a USB.
