Breton's apologue is quite accurate, actually. A particle exists everywhere until you try and observe it. Yet, two particles can have a special connection (changing one will change the other too). Even if they're millions light years apart. Information is transmitted at the speeed of light no matter where the two linked particles are (Quantum Enlightment, commonly used in everyday electronics, one day the basis for quantum calculators).

Both Breton's story and Schrodinger's grumpy cat were the first attempts at explaining QP outside of pure maths.
You're posting multiple quantum theories and presuming they are associated with Schrodinger's experiment. The quantum theory that explains the wave / particle nature of photons (or matter) is called "wave-particle duality" where a photon behaves like a wave when not observed and like a particle when it is observed. The "special connection" property of photons (or even matter) you describe is called quantum entanglement - as described by Einstein "spooky action at a distance".

If I understood Schrodinger's experiment correctly, he was primarily trying to explain the wave-particle duality whereby opening the box to observe if the cat was dead or alive collapses the wave function of matter causing the radio-active material to decay into an expected state resulting in the release of cyanide thereby killing the cat. The experiment therefore hypothesizes that as far as the box remains unopened (or unobserved), the quantum state of the radio-active material remains in it's wave-form i.e. decayed or intact at the same time, thereby keeping the cat dead and alive at the same time.

Just like my avatar - get it?

I was just joking, you silly! Just to chat QP a bit. Entanglement = slip, I was just quoting randomly, I'm not fucking Niels Bohr.

I know you were joking, welcome to being trolled

Btw Uncertainty principle IS a component of wave-particle duality.

But since we are on the topic, how boring was the discovery of the Higgs Boson. I was expecting fireworks, quantum teleportation and wormhole creations popping up left right and center when in fact they said they found it, and that was that.

              Mmmmkay, next?

Actually: there's is no box and, until you mess with it, Schrodinger is everywhere at the same time in the Universe.
