Loved that last track until that vocal !! So many great music tracks being ruined by bad, usually digitally distorted , voices.

Can't believe I just heard them advertising a Moonpark with Deadmau5. Sorry, but if it is a Moonpark, it is Hernan !! I don't share the hatred for Deadmau5 that others do but Moonpark to me is Hernan !! He made the name famous!! There are other artists who have at least been on a previous Moonpark, I would have expected them maybe to be represented in Moonpark line ups for this 10th anniversary year. Deadmau5 has no previous Moonpark , marketing him under this name just screams commercial exploitation !

01. Sivesgaard - Half Dreaming (Inxec Remix) [Eklektisch | EKV011]

Heavily inspired by the synth based, melody-driven sound of the 80's, danish producer Sivesgaard has evolved his own sound, which often is difficult to categorise. Often melancholic, always melodic, his songs are created to immerse you and bring out your innermost feelings – as he tells it: “Music needs soul and all emotions; sadness, melancholy, euphoria, happiness and above all - purpose! Never make a song you don't feel - then it becomes artificial, a construct of wrong reasons.”

Eklektisch is the label run by esteemed Spanish DJ and producer, Edu Imbernon. Since 2008, the label has showcased a wide range of house and tech styles from a number of established and breakthrough artists. As well as the boss himself, the likes of Coyu, Uner, David August, Solomun, Los Suruba, Julien Chaptal and many more have released on the imprint. Perfect electronic music for the more discerning dancefloors is the label's mission, with many of the releases being played by top spinners including Oxia, Uner, Ramon Tapia, X-Press 2 and many more besides.

[SpecialHousinAssociation Review]

Edu Imbernon’s Eklektish is throwing out some serious material at the moment and this latest is case-in-point. Sivesgaard’s Half Dreaming could not have been much better named as it’s angelic chords and delicious organ delivers a slo-mo vibe that almost paralyses the room with it’s utter beauty. Grand and effective stuff which really must be heard – add this straight to the list for 2013 if it’s down-tempo and immersive music that you seek.

Pete Oak’s Dunkel Mix takes things up a gear and into the main-room arena. The bass-line is big and Art Department-ally approved, without being over the top. What’s on show here is very, very tidily done – you’ll love this within five seconds if it’s your vibe.

Oliver Schories hit the restrain button on his interpretation which is dubby, without being deadly, as it’s approaches the break. Here things are neatly interpreted from the original, without ever seeming to break sweat. A touch safe for me on this occasion from, absolutely, one of my favourite producers.

Speaking of top producers Inxec has been ticking lots of boxes for me, but this remix genuinely took my breath away. Faultless beats are on show to compliment the angelic original elements as the beats progress. There’s some lovely digital tickles in the audio before an immense and live sounding bass line drops in. The amount of character, intensity and beauty as the organs and pads wash by is quite something to behold. Add to this, the already amazing vocal and this is actually astonishing stuff. A mesmerising mix to round off a great EP.

Inxec Bio

Over the past 5 years Nottingham born, Munich based INXEC has been carving out a reputation as one of the most innovative producers in house and techno. With his tracks getting hammered by the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Luciano and many more, its not hard to see why INXEC is in such high demand both in the studio and behind the decks.

Born in the early 80’s Chris Sylvester aka INXEC’s first foray in music production came in the unlikely form of the playstation. However it wasn’t long before he moved onto more advanced software and by the early 2000’s was releasing prog edged house music for labels such as Renaissance & Distinctive under the guise Sound Alliance. Fast forward to 2003 and the burgeoning techno sound had bitten Chris, who by that time was playing regularly at venues across the UK, such as The Bomb & Stealth. By 2005 his production talents were honed to the extent that Jay Haze signed him to the much-converted Contexterrior label, and Chris proceeded to produce a string a highly acclaimed EP’s for the label, which brought him huge recognition within the techno scene and beyond.

A string of high profile remixes were to follow, massive labels like Yoshitoshi, Cr2, Tuning Spork, Renaissance, Greatstuff, Kismet, Saved, Esperanza and many more, as well as a highly acclaimed string of collaborations with long term friend Matt Tolfrey. Fast forward to 2009 and Chris’s production talents were picked up by the worlds biggest techno label Cocoon, which has helped catapult the Inxec name into the upper stratosphere of the house and techno community. During the last 4 years Chris’s constant dj gigs and touring has seen him play some of the worlds most prestigious clubs including Fabric, The Cross, London, Watergate Berlin, Minimal Hospital in Italy, as well as a much lauded residency at Harry Klien in Munich, which sees him grace the decks at least once a month where touring permits.

03. False Image - Ocelot (Wild Kingdom EP) [Get Physical Music | GPM211]

Berlin native Tom Clark and Canadian Noah Pred join forces on Get Physical for their new venture - False Image. The duo delivers the stunning, deep EP, 'Wild Kingdom' to shake up dance-floors everywhere.

'Ocelot' utilises a nearly funky array of sounds to convey the groove, all laid out over a sexy rhythm. The bass-line pushes the track up and down as a sine & LFO take their turn stealing the spotlight and adding depth. The track has a sweaty feel to it, like the damp dark club floors it calls home.

The B side, 'Anteater' is a bass groove with an almost jazz inspired percussion on top. The boys show their intentions with almost sporadic synth work, creating a tense energy. The mixing is very masterfully executed, a sign that False Image are on the right track.

04. Marcus Worgull - Muwekma feat. Frank Wiedemann [Innervisions | IV41]

Wow only 1 and 1/2 year and we have a follow up from Marcus Worgull. Three collaborations with friends - Osunlade / Frank Wiedemann from Âme and Cologne based Peter Pardeike. Every track really sounds like a melting pot of both contributors, amazing result. Over & out.

If Howling was the EP that defined Innervisions in 2012, then appointing Marcus Worgull to see out the year was a savvy move: he too has form where pop-tinted house is concerned. "Long Way" and "Spellbound" were both released on Dixon and Âme's label, but what emerges on Muwekma is a bit more anchored to the dance floor, with Worgull collaborating on a track apiece with Peter Pardeike, Frank Wiedemann and Osunlade.

The Osunlade collaboration, "Reno," is the sprightliest of the three. The track's staccato bassline does most of the work, bobbing and weaving in a way that evokes a Mediterranean crime thriller as much as a sweltering rooftop party. "Salam" with Peter Pardeike is an even more opulent affair, and no less effective. Swollen, distorted pads are heaved across the track's seven-minute running time toward a synth line you'd be hard-pressed to describe as anything other than monolithic—it saturates pretty much everything in the vicinity, somehow without becoming overbearing.

The title track is more subtle, and it's for this reason that it deserves special praise. Like "Salam," luxuriant melody is the order of the day, but it's given a little more space to breathe amid Worgull and Wiedmann's seductive pitter-patter rhythm. Warped cathedral organs and faint rainforest calls also make themselves apparent on a track that, when tested on a decent club system, should feel utterly transformative.

Man of the moment Markus Homm on Night Drive Music. Markus Homms music is in a constant state of development, always searching for, and finding the most compelling groove. Releases on labels like Highgrade, Diynamic, Ostwind, Brise, Kiara or Unique Muzik to name only a few made him one of the most varied and respected artists around the globe. This 4 tracker is the best example of his unique skills to combine feelings with grooves.

Born in Athens, DPen (aka Yiannis Pennas) was raised in the city, a setting in which he was exposed to a variety of music scenes.

After a lot of hard work and endless hours over his pc, and in the meantime being a novice to the field he managed to finish his first three songs in August of 2005. Those songs were immediately signed from 1shot Recs and supported by world famous dj/producer Hernan Cattaneo.

Until now dPen has released songs in various respectable labels of the progressive house scene,like deep Focus, Subliminal, Lost Language , Presslab,Tiesto's Black Hole recs, Restart, Feral Code, Mestija, Sutil ,Bonzai, The Sound of Everything and many many more.

Sasha is on a high of late - having completed two Moonpark dates with fellow maestro Hernán Cattáneo and also finally released the much anticipated third instalment of his Involver series.

DJ/Producer Sasha is recognised as one of the world’s most innovative icons in the electronic dance music world and has remained on the cutting edge of dance music for well over two decades. Sasha returns in 2013 with the 3rd edition of his globally successful concept ‘Involver’ proudly released by Ministry of Sound.

Emanating a sound that flits between dream like Balearic ambience and innovative technical beats; Sasha’s 3rd edition of ‘Involver’ arguably sits within its own artistic medium. With sales of nearly 50,000 copies across the series so far, this release has been an eagerly awaited masterpiece.

Unlike most traditional mix albums, Sasha has taken time to deliver exclusive remixes of artists such as The XX, Ultraista, Keep Shelley in Athens, Little Dragon, Foals and more, specifically for this album.

D-Floor is a new label from the italian crew comprising by NiCe7, Leon and Pirupa. The debut EP comes from Frankie Watch (Ops Records, Tenax) and gets remixed by NiCe7 (Noir Music, Defected) and Pirupa (Desolat, Defected) A hot mixture of classic house with a breakbeat-influenced B-side.

09. Fairmont - Last Dance (Ewan Pearson Remix) (Automaton Remixes EP) [My Favorite Robot | MFR070]

Jake Fairley AKA Fairmont has been pioneering forward thinking electronic music for well over a decade now, working alongside heavyweight labels such as Border Community, Traum Schallpletten and most recently My Favorite Robot Records who released his third artist album November 2012. The LP, ‘Automaton’ received  broad critical acclaim with praise heaped on it by publications such as Mixmag, DJ Mag, Groove, Tsugi and Faze magazine and select cuts from the album began to show up in the charts of a number of leading DJs. Now Fairmont & My Favorite Robot Records have decided to collect together a series of remixes of some of the leading lights from the LP, reworked by some of their favourite producers, the results are here on ‘Automaton Remixes 1’ with a 2nd remix package scheduled to follow later this year.

The EP kicks off with ‘Last Dance’, a key cut from the album which now gets overhauled by remix heavyweight Ewan Pearson. Pearson’s remix credentials needed little introduction having been a go-to man for the likes of Depeche Mode, Metronomy, Hot Chip etc as well as numerous dance acts. Here he takes ‘Last Dance’ and works it into an epic ten minute electronic anthem as only Mr Pearson knows how, simply stunning!

Following hot on his heels, Ryan Crosson picks up the remix baton and sets about transforming ‘Alkaline’ into a brilliantly understated slice of leftfield techno with a light and airy feel to it. The third mix sees Factor City's Undo remix ‘Fate’, turning in a slo-mo electro influenced piece of electronica that marries Fairmont’s song structure with some intense and moving production. The penultimate mix sees recent MFRR convert Arthur Oskan gets to grips with ‘Tiny Diamonds’ delivering a remix that pulses and purrs with it’s arpeggiated synth lines bringing a truly uplifting quality. Finally we close the package as we started it with remix overlord Ewan Pearson delivering an instrumental version to sit against his remix.

With the recent Jori Hulkkonen remix package fresh in the memory and now this stunning selection of Fairmont mixes it’s clear that My Favorite Robot Records are becoming very adept at picking the right remixer for the right job. ‘Automaton remixes 1’ is a must have collection for all lovers of quality electronic music.
