        Release Notes:

        01. Isolée - Allowance [Pampa Records | PAMPA013]

Beautiful house music from Rajko Müller's ever wonderful Isolée project for Koze's Pampa Records. 'Allowance' amounts to one of the finest seven minutes of melodic house you'll likely hear this year, simple as. 'You Could Do Your Memories' sustains the sublime vibes over on the flip, p'raps at a dubbier bob, and there's the tucked 'n hypnotic 'Wobble' if you wanna swing.

After his separation from Playhouse in 2007 and the rather longish break that followed it, it looks as if Isolée has finally found their new home base with Pampa Records. Evidence of this may be found in such unprejudiced tracks as “Taktell", a single extracted from the album “Well-Spent Youth” . As is typical for Isolée, it defies any clear-cut genre classification and creates its very own harmonic setting, merging associations of pop, house and distant landscapes into a unique sound voyage.

Now his second EP on Pampa is being released, and “Allowance” doesn’t leave an inch of a doubt where the road is headed. Without making any concessions to the needs of a DJ, from bar one the theme is being introduced in all its inherent necessity and then continually established until a seemingly worn-out, mainstream, pop autotune voice settles upon the cosy bass bed just like a cherry on the cake. We haven’t known Isolée anywhere near as free and poppy in a very long time. A more mix-friendly version of the track will be available for digital download.

“You Could Do Your Memories” lures the listener away into a daydream, as if he suddenly found himself in an unknown place at a new-wave party that cannot possibly have happened the way it did. “Wobble", on the other hand, leaves only few questions unanswered, the party definitely looks familiar, and just when we reach that point where the funk motif resulting from the fusion of bass-line and chords is threatening to wear us down, we are being released.

        [Little White Ear Buds Review]

It must be hard for producers not to follow the trends of the moment. Constantly surrounded by the music of their peers, aware of what’s selling in the shops, what’s getting the most play, staying true to your particular sound must be no easy task. It’s always refreshing, then, to listen to an Isolée record, because with over 15 years of releasing under his belt, it never sounds like his productions have simply aped the prevalent strain of house and techno around him. Of course it could just be that Rajko Müller is stuck in his own past, that he has merely continued on in the same vein of microhouse that he helped make popular with records like Beau Mot Plage, I Owe You, and, later, Brazil.com. Whatever the case, his releases constantly hit an incredibly high mark of quality, and his latest for Pampa Records is no exception.

All three tracks on the EP sound like they could have come from any time in his career. “Wobble” is typical of the purposeful, minimal house with which he made his name on Playhouse; clipped synth notes and cornered smudges of bass sketching out the bare-bones groove of the track. By comparison to the two tracks that sandwich it, “Wobble” sounds icy cool and detached. “Allowance” works around a central melodic theme that wraps you in a cozy blanket of sentiment. Isolée has the core parts all follow each other, and throughout continues to add new sounds and variations, giving the first impression of a track that is almost simplistic in its approach, but upon further study turns out to be an intricate work. “You Could Do Your Memories” is even more saccharine; its wistful piano keys, muted guitar sounds, and gentle lull of bass frequencies are so emotive they could induce tears from a stone. More quality, then, from a producer who rarely puts a foot wrong and a label that continues to show the same good form.

        [RA Review]

Almost exactly two years since the release of his Well Spent Youth album, Isolee returns to DJ Koze's Pampa Records with a much-awaited EP. Despite his considerable absence, Allowance still very much adheres to the German producer's trademark overtly emotive style.

The title track is the real gem here. Framed around a heartbreakingly melodic core, it features a distressing, beautiful synth line intertwining with, and reflected in, the bass. If "Allowance" is a sonic outpour of emotion, then "You Can Do Your Memories" is more discreet, with a grainy curtain of fragile chords and lightly-trodden kicks. On "Wobble," a stocky framework of well-rounded kicks supports a layer of agile interaction between a despondent two-tone synth and a set of more ragged, electrified lines. This rolling result sees Isolee at his most animated, and yet you get the impression that this is as far as he will ever stray from his winning melancholic formula.

        02. Uvo - False Forms [unreleased]

With releases on Balkan Connection, Mistique Digital and Baroque Records Kevin Rodirguez (aka Uvo) is a Dj producer focused on electronic music sub genrers like deep, progressive & techno.

        03. Shyam - Let Me In [Tulipa Recordings | TULIPACD01]

T/LEC aka Tony Bove is a master of his craft. He was approached by Tulipa Recordings owner Summer (Brendon Collins) to create a mix compilation specific to his personal style. Tony spent months collecting tracks for the monumental Blooming. Tony has long been an artist, friend, and contributor to Tulipa Recordings and the label was honoured to have him take on the adventurous task of collecting exclusive music from talented producers across the globe. The result is a triumphant mix that takes us on an exhilarating journey through the soul of modern day electronic music. Tony's taste is impeccable and it is obvious that he is an innovator at heart. Blooming is riddled with deep ingenuities, impulsive grooves, and melodically-coherent layers that soar above the average mix, solidifying T/LEC's position in the music industry as an accomplished DJ and forward thinking producer.

Like most mix compilations, Blooming represents the sounds that currently make up who I am as a DJ and music artist. Going further it also represents the blueprint of this mix with its evolvement in sound and to which most of the tracks were produced by up and coming artists still looking to make their mark on the industry, including myself. As a result, compiling and constructing this mix was very challenging yet very rewarding. Whatever your interpretation, my hope is that it makes a good mark on you as well (at least for the next hour).

        04. Daniel Dexter - Why So Serious (Focus On LP) [Poker Flat Recordings | PFRLP33]

Daniel Dexter’s reputation as party starter extraordinaire keeps on growing – a result of his punishing touring schedule and consistently exceptional output of some of Europe’s top electronic labels. But it’s fair to say that Berlin based Dexter’s most rewarding and boundary-pushing work so far has been courtesy of Poker Flat Recordings – which makes this edition of the Hamburg imprint’s Focus On series very timely.

Focus On Daniel Dexter joins the already illustrious company of previous releases that featured Argy and Guido Schneider, and is set to bring Dexter’s unique brand of dance-floor mayhem to yet more ears. Having spent 2012 touring the world and ripping up dance-floors in every way imaginable, this release brings into sharp focus the force of nature that is Daniel Dexter.

The release draws together some key releases and distinct high points of his sound over the last few years, as well as giving us some very exciting glimpses of what’s in store in the future – scattered throughout this weighty release are numerous unreleased and exclusive cuts set to detonate dance-floors throughout 2013. The exclusive tracks are available on the vinyl release, while digital customers can pick up all 13 unmixed tracks. What’s more, the album is also being released on CD as an exclusive mix made by Dexter himself, showcasing not only his expertly crafted tracks but his unique and highly sought after mixing skills – not to be missed!

The journey starts with ‘The Other Day’ – Dexter’s emotional mood setter sounding as good as ever – a true slice of atmospheric dance music as you’ll hear. The album also makes sure to stop by some other Dexter-defining moments, including ‘No House for Old Men’ from 2011, and a trio of stunning releases on Poker Flat from 2012 – ‘Sirens’, ‘Storm’ and ‘Murder’. Each was a master class in dynamics and production savvy, referencing classic sounds but never being overawed by them. Dexter’s astounding remix for Zombie Disco Squad’s ‘Righteous Sound’ on Made to Play is another case in point- tight, punchy, and filled with a menace and attitude that is all Dexter.

Dexter’s skills for balancing the needs of dance-floors to the more cerebral needs of the home listeners is clear - and nowhere more so than on the new and exclusive tracks on this release. ‘Birds’ has a lightness of touch that makes it perfect for very early or very late in any set. ‘Night Away’ is more upfront but maintains a jazzy undertone and boasts a smouldering vocal from Geraldine Roth – and also comes with a handy dub version for the DJs. ‘Raw Land’ is a firing late night house monster, deep and trippy and sure to turn a few floors inside out when played at the right moment.

‘Papillon’ builds dramatically, utilises its few elements to create a wicked groove reminiscent of classic period Carl Craig, while ‘Why So Serious?’ adds another dimension of edginess to the proceedings.

‘In To The Wild’ further references Dexter’s debt to Detroit, but transcends the sum of its parts to create a lush and emotive deep bomb. Rounding off the album is Dexter’s upcoming remix of Gender Bombs ‘Danube’- a perfect way to close this epic journey- sitting somewhere between trip hop and deep house, this track showcases Dexter’s extraordinary diversity and sure touch for emotional dance music.

        05. Ben Watt - Guinea Pig Vocal Variation Mix (Marcelo Vasami Remix) [Buzzin' Fly Records | unreleased]

Another fine label falls victim to these challenging economic and musical times, after Ben Watt's majestic Buzzin' Fly imprint recently announced it's decision to stop releasing new music. Instead Buzzin' Fly will sell from their extensive back catalogue digitally, but no new music will be released.

So its appropriate that one of the label head's influential tracks 'Guinea Pig' again sees the light of day, this time remixed by young Argentinian contender Marcelo Vasami.

Originally released in 2008 with 'Vocal' and 'Musical' Variation Mixes [039BUZZ] 2009 saw two fantastic remixes. The superb DJ Koze mix was used by Sasha as his fabric opener that year.

If you like Marcelo's take on this, check out the other versions which scored highly on review. And also tip you hat to a label that has left quite a legacy.

        [RA Remix Package Review]

It's hard not to overstate the overwhelming sense of expectation that now comes with each DJ Koze remix. Forget a new album from the man: Let's simply have him remix every bland record in the universe and transform them into wondrous, unique little things. Even when it isn't quite great, it's always interesting. (For proof, look no further than the recent compilation on Get Physical on which this rework of Ben Watt's latest single also appears.)

Luckily, here it's both great and interesting: Koze weaves a rubbery melody line, a phone company recording, bells upon bells and maybe even something from the original too. It's hard to tell, aside from the vocals which remain intelligible but barely so amid the gathering storm of elements that rest uneasily against one another. The tension, however, never really gets resolved exactly: Things just drop away, as though forgotten, and only the beat remains. It's home listening techno at its finest, and can probably be heard on more adventurous dance floors as well.

Koze takes up the B-side of this release, while M.A.N.D.Y. and Smallboy take care of the A. It's a functional dance floor-ready tech house rework that doesn't try to do all that much and succeeds in its modest aims. Utilizing those same bells as rhythm and melody, the remix glides along with a minimum of fuss, hitting its marks effortlessly. Why you would want to bring it home to listen to, though, I have no idea.

        06. Konektiv - Hauz (Ferdy Remix) [Afterglow Deep | AGRDEEP035]

Big new Afterglow Deep release from rising artist "Konektiv" with a mindblowing hypnotic remix from "Ferdy" - higly recommended!

        [Flux BPM Review]

The top notch prog house record label Afterglow deep returns under the spotlight with the huge release by the uber talented Konektiv called Hauz including a smashing Ferdy remix that is already causing a lot of hype in the deep prog house/techno scene.

The original mix is a nearly 9 minutes deep prog house inspiring journey that stays true to the roots of what electronica music is all about. Rich sound textures, slick chunky beats, deep haunting bass-lines, danceable and highly addictive rhythm and awesome melodic layers that add light of hope within the dark gloomy soundscapes. The vocal samples stay at the background in order to create just a nice tapestry of noises and melodies that is hypnotic, addictive cinematic, dreamy and highly enjoyable. Its one of those tracks that can be played within warm up prog house sets and radio shows during late hours or lazy Sunday afternoons.

The Ferdy remix is a bright example of progressive techno with strong melodic content. Its definitely an inspiring version with tribal techy house beats that build relentlessly until to lock you into its addictive groove and carry your inner self somewhere far and away. Closed eyes, heads down and just strobe lights is the perfect environment to enjoy this underground gem to its fullest. Two high class versions to keep you connected with your mind, body and soul in perfect harmony. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this beauty!

        07. Revolt - Rise [The Sessions Recordings | SESSIONS020]

C-Jay is proud to present you, release number 20 on his label. This time it's a single release track by Revolt.

Hernan Cattaneo: "Very good stuff, full support"
Pena (Flow Records): "I really like the spaced out atmospheres"
        MoShic: "Yeah, quality"
Darin Epsilon: "The percussion in this is really creative. Interesting sounds throughout this production"
        Kassey Voorn: "Nice one"

Revolt (real name Arno Asmus) used to release tracks in the golden years of progressive on labels like Bedrock, Bliss, Addictive, Choo Choo etc. In the late 90's he compiled the award winning mix compilation CD series "Tranceporter, music for the generation mix" before the word trance was hijacked for big riffs and cheesy breakdowns infested music. Voted compilation of the year 2 times in a row by renowned Dutch physical musicmag "OOR"

Besides that he was one of the founding partners of xpander.nl, in that period the biggest global portal for underground dance music. Being a graphic designer by day and producer by night Revolt has also been responsible for hundreds and hundreds of 12" sleeves, CD covers and flyers including the artwork for C-Jay's "The Sessions."

        Mastering by: Francesco Pico.
Release date Beatport: March 4th, 2013

        08. Der Dritte Raum - Alienoid (Dominik Eulberg & Gabriel Ananda Reconstruction Remix)
(Trommelmaschine Reconstructed 1 EP) [Der Dritte Raum Records | DDR005]

Originally released in 1996 on Harthouse with a Villalobos remix 'Trommelmaschine Reconstructed' 2012 hit's daylight and turns its attention to the importance of electronic music classics. Together with Index ID, Andreas Krüger forms the producer duo Der Dritte Raum - one of the first acts signed to Sven Väth's label and being responsible for international charted tracks like Hale Bopp, Trommelmaschine, Wellenbad amongst others. The current back catalogue release is a re-orientation within the current and classic techno map and is thus setting new standards.

On the A side, we see Toby Dreher who created a great and perfect DJ tool that has enormous power on the dancefloor. Dominik Eulberg and Gabriel Ananda are established artists and are now preparing to convince the rest of the community with their remix of 'Trommelmaschine'.

B2 is reconstructed by co/pilot Index ID. His Playlove Mix is deep and beautiful as the majority of his work and has been produced with awesome effect. All in all we see 3 brand-new versions of Trommelmaschine on a 12 plus exclusive bonus remixes by Alexander Kowalski & Fenin.

        09. Scotty. A - What Make Us Smile [Particles | PSI1307]

Scotty.A's glorious melodic offering, "What Makes Us Smile" was originally featured on the standout "Spring Particles 2012" compilation. Since then, the Norfolk based producer from the East of England has had a 2012 to be proud of with his work released on DAR, Balkan Connection and Proton, and licensed to Armada. Supported by the great and good of the DJ world, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren are not the only ones to recognise Scotty's talent; a forthcoming EP for Proton Music looks to further cement his "passion for music and dedication to his craft".

Now, Particles is delighted to announce the full release of "What Makes Us Smile" alongside remix treatments from two iconic figures from Proton history, one marking his debut on the Particles imprint.

Israeli, Igal Magitman has had a huge string of respected and successful releases under his considerably sized belt, since his first works with Brisker hit the digital world in 2006. The duo caused a storm with a ready supply of rhythmic, high-energy tracks that saw releases on Baroque, Plastik Park and a full-length album on Tribal Vision. As long-term friend and contributor, Magitman's solo work also played its part in the Proton Music story in 2012, not least with his remix of Nick Stoynoff's "Brandenburg", original production, "Cleaning Day" and remix of Mobilize's "Partikel" for Particles. With his talent also recognised by the Global Underground, Audiotherapy and Renaissance imprints, Magitman now marks his second Particles outing with a trademark rip-roaring, rhythmic master class. A generous serving of house rhythms, tuned percussion loops, and sustained pads and are expertly combined with a breakdown that subtly brings in elements from Scotty.A's original work, before returning to full rhythmic force. This is an interpretation steeped in Magitman's very own production philosophy.

From production central in the Canadian province of 'Auriumland', Greg Benz needs no introduction to those following the output of one of Northern America's finest progressive exponents in the shape of his collaborative efforts with Marco Di Carlo under their Benz and MD moniker. With some 250 production credits to their name for the like of Lost Language, Armada, Hope and their own Aurium imprint, the duo's work for Proton since 2007's "Signals" has always been first-class. In his solo work, Greg Benz has always had strong support in both the production and DJ world, sharing the airwaves with John Digweed on his former KISS FM show on UK radio. "Kickdrums and Ex-Girlfriends" provided a welcome debut for Greg's solo ventures on Proton Music in 2012, but as long-standing host of the Aurium show on Proton Radio since 2004, and 100 episodes to his name, Greg is certainly no stranger to the Proton airwaves. Marking his Particles debut, Benz brings his considerable skill set to "What Makes Us Smile", making full use of Scotty A's distinctive sound by reinterpreting the melodic elements with wonderful sensitivity and expertise. Greg's progressive passions are in full effect as the track rises and falls in intensity with effortless ease, combined with rhythms that will have dance floors full of joy unbounded. Two icons from the Proton past, present and future certainly know, "What Makes Us Smile".

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.
