... for some reason I thought of some rock bands in the 70s-80s who allowed people to tape their live concerts, and share.. but I guess its a little more complicated with edm now since there is a lot of people involved in making those tracks, etc.

From what I've seen most of us here really like his work.. so why not share the love ? I dunno

To be honest, that is inevitable.. the only reason it hasn't happened yet is because cell phone makers use shitty mics, and even if you record an extended clip, its pretty much useless at that kind of decibel level. There are just a few phones out there than use HAAC mics that can handle the noise levels without any significant distortion. Eventually there will be more phones/devices like that, and you will get more people recording stuff...

They will have to ban smartphones from the shows if they don't want anything recorded.

I used this: Amazon.com: Nokia 808 PureView Unlocked Phone with a 41 MP Camera with Carl Zeiss Optics--U.S. Warranty (White): Cell Phones Accessories

@ 360p for a smaller file size, and I brought two batteries with me.

The whole point of this was to let people who couldn't go, get a feel for the night.. and of course for my personal enjoyment and memories from the night.

I did exactly that, just to test it out and see how it sounds.. extracted the audio track from the mp4 clip, and then converted it to MP3 using foobar. Played with the EQ in foobar and found this to be best

Here are 15 mins from the first hour in mp3, its not great.. but I am listing to it right now, and its usable if you just want to get a feel:

So I heard at 5am digweed came on the mic and said something like"sorry everybody we gotta play by their rules this will be the last track of the night"

                  How sad this that

He still played for almost 30 mins after he said that But yes, I think the crowd was ready for at least another hour

Exactly..I know its very different now with edm, but that sense of community must have been pretty cool back then.

That'd make it a live release every 6 x months ... would be a great idea

I really liked the Transitions CD series ethos of representing what John has been playing every six months, with vol. 4 ending up a masterpiece.

Although Diggers' radio show gives us a good idea week in week out too

I don't think there is enough to fill 4 CDs ... with him having to change the mixer, and then telling us that he has to only play until 5., I think that might be an obstacle, but he put out an amazing 2cd release for sure..

yeah he could easily pick out two 80 minute segments which would be just amazing. he is so damn good i dont think there is another dj who even comes close to the talent that digweed has. just pure magic in his sets

I really hope this comes about The Vagabond set he broadcast from 2009, and from 2010 which appeared on Structures -- both excellent. By the way, what happened to the Pawn Shop?

Chill venue overall.. I really like it. No strict dress code, cool staff.. much better than the pretentious clubs over the bridge.

I agree.. but I can't figure out why that is exactly.

Yes, very talented.. but so is Hawtin, who I saw the previous night, and you can just tell that he is amazing behind the deck, but still...his set, at least to my ears, was almost boring compared to John's. The night before that I saw Ben Klock and he was very precise.. but again, nothing from his set stood out, which kind of makes for a not very memorable night.

With John's sets..they stay with you for a while..
