I remember one of his recent live sets in Athens were many didn't like his direction of the mix,
but i really enjoyed it !

Is just that i hate when clubbers come to listen to a particular DJ and they don't understand the music.
There are very few that's actually ear trained to this type of electronic music @ least in my country.
They are mostly mainstream, which isn't bad.
Some come just to have a good time, others come for the music, some for both.
But a good crowd who also knows for what he came for is really influencing the DJ and driving his gig to a better level.

Since we brought boring gigs to the table, i've been to 3 Sasha disappointing gigs, and he played for almost 2 hours. He looked tired, and not into place. But ibiza and Rhodes 2011, great gigs !.

Heres one question for you Trick
whats the best place you've been, were you enjoyed being withat type of crowd mostly ?
Pretty well agree with all that But particularly the bolded bits.

Re: Sasha Involver 3 SUCKS, i'm sorry

Finally got around to listening to Involv3r this week and whilst I agree it was really, really dull the fact it had "deep house crap & vocals" had nothing to do with it. It was just a really poor selection of tunes, irrespective of whatever particular genre you want to pigeonhole them as, that had no contrast between them. Nothing stood out, the whole thing just plodded along. Not a patch on the first 2 mixes in the series.

I did enjoy the beatless CD though. Really nice to kick back and listen to before bed. I suspect that will get more plays than CD1, though admittedly that isn't hard.

I disagree with that, Sasha's sound has evolved with the years and you don't really hear DJs play what he plays. In fact, his sound has changed much more than other DJs, whether you like the direction he took or not is a different question. The "prog sound" has been done for a long time now, it's not like these new guys are particular trailblazers either.

Might be true (I don't follow Sasha closely), but this holds equally true with the WOW whizkid hisself, Jody Wisternoff who would regularly play breaks (I actually miss this era to some extent) and mainly prog house (a few years prior to that, prog trance). Since then, there's been a lot of tech/vocal/electro/bass house and 80s/2-step material played.

My list was just a taste I respectfully disagree with what you say about both the prog sound and whether the new guys are trailblazers. My definition of progressive is exactly that, it progresses I think most of these new guys are doing that , the sound continually changes . So to me they are trailblazers . .But the most important thing isn't that it is "prog" or trailblazing , it is, as I said , in the progressive tradition, of being great, melody, sexy dance music It's usually emotional.

I totally disagree with kolakao that Sasha hasn't changed, they all change, as a you said sometimes we like, sometimes we don't. I still long for the Satoshi of Nubreed. I most emphatically disagree that Sasha is too old to change A lot of our very best Djs are older and they constantly change. I think the trick is to maintain their essence while they do change. Nick Warren is a great example of this over the last year or so, always loved Nick, but he seems to have a lot more emotion these days.

One thing I wholeheartedly agree with is the number of amazing Djs coming out of Argentina , but I have been saying that for years. Kevin Di Serna is another on my list at the moment. They are great producers as well !!

He lost something on the road.

Lets face it Sasha has been bad for longer than he was good. Why people listen to music by people who were good more than 10 years ago is anyone's business.

Sasha plays some blinding tunes. Always has done, always will, just that he tends to play them over and over again so his mixes get a bit boring.
The tracks on Involver are all excellent, but he only plays the vocal sections, and misses loads of the trippy and blippy stuff, but then he has to fit 2 hours worth of tunes into and hour and 14 minutes.

The stuff he is playing now reminds me of the stuff he was playing in '92 and '93, then he went Prog in '95ish, to me this is what Sasha was all about, depends when you started listening to him.

Listen to the Bangkok & Harmony tapes.
