    Hernán Cattáneo Resident | Delta FM 90.3 • 06.04.2013 • Episode 100

Breaking with tradition a little here, but I just love this video :!! The quality isn't super good , although not bad either. But it epitomises what Hernan is all about , the great melodic music , the way he interacts with his fans and that fact that at 9.00am in the morning he is not only still standing , but happy and dancing !!

Now we wait for what I am sure will be a great ep. And I was right

                              Release Notes:

                              01. Luca Bacchetti - Atlantic [Endless | NDL002]

Its no secret that travelling has always fascinated and influenced Luca Bacchetti and his music making. ENDLESS, is the latest adventure and brainchild of the Italian DJ producer, already held in high regard for his seminal work for labels such as Ovum, Crosstown Rebels, Wagon Repair, Culprit.

                              "Atlantic" Original Version 8'33" (Digital)
A side "Atlantic" Extended Vinyl Cut 13'50" (Vinyl exclusive)
B side "Atlantic" Extended Dub 13'50" (Digital and vinyl)

Fresh from the release of the exotic, hypnotic and ultimately mysterious "El Maravilloso Mundo De Xilitia", Luca prepares to take us on another trip as he soundtracks more of his travelling experiences with, 'Atlantic'. The dream-like feel of 001 is replaced with by a driving funk as we take off on Bacchetti's new musical flight. As we swoop high above the crystal blue waters, 'Atlantic' catches jet streams of synth, bathing us in warmth as it breaks through sunburnt clouds. Floating through its Oboe-break the engines kick in once again and power us to our destination. At just under fourteen minutes the sun-drenched Atlantic is quite a journey, and yet as the last beat sounds we're already lining up to climb back aboard.

                              Released by: Endless
                              Release/catalogue number: NDL002
                              Release date: Feb 25, 2013

                              02. Jori Hulkkonen as Third Culture - Liquid Hologram feat. Jiihoo (Jori Hulkkonen Remix) (Negative Time Remixes 2 EP) [My Favorite Robot Records | MFR072]

After the success of the first instalment, My Favorite Robot Records unleashes another package of stunning remixes derived from Jori Hulkkonen's recent killer album 'Negative Time' 2012 was the year that Toronto's My Favorite Robot Records really took the leap into artist albums, with two amazing long players from Jori Hulkkonen and Fairmont and the seeds sown for the forthcoming, much anticipated Sid Le Rock LP.

With a good artist album, there comes the opportunity for a good remix collection and MFRR have certainly not let the chance slide with two amazing remix packages to date of Hulkkonen and Fairmont featuring production heavyweights such as Ewan Pearson, Phonogenic, Ryan Crosson and Of Norway to name just a few.

Now there is a second instalment in Jori Hulkkonen's 'Negative Time remixes' series that sees four further remixers take the Finnish producers work and rework it in their own image. The EP kicks off with 'Gonna Track You Down' remixed by the US brother/sister duo Knox who delivers a wonderful slice of post dub-step electronica that marries rich sub bass, skittering drum patterns and ethereal vocal snippets to supreme effect.

Next up Hulkkonen himself rehashes the brilliant 'Liquid Hologram feat JiiHoo' into a pulsing and hypnotic club mix that pulls together elements of house, techno and electro in perfect fusion.

The penultimate track sees 'Do It feat. Olga Kouklaki', remixed by man of the moment Maxxi Soundsystem who turns in a blissful, deep and bubbling house mix that is pure aural pleasure. Finally we have Romanian producer and MFRR favourite, The Model who remixes 'Bass is a Many Splendored Things' into a rolling piece of techno elegance with it's staccato snares, arp lines and insistent bass, quality stuff.

We have come to expect high things from the My Favorite Robot Records label and with this latest package of remix they once again excel in every way, enjoy!

                              03. Henry Saiz - All The Evil Of This World (Chaim remix) [Natura Sonoris | Promo]

Out of the midst of winter, Henry Saiz emerges with the first works from long awaited and soon-to-be-heard debut LP, Reality Is For Those Who Are Not Strong Enough To Confront Their Dreams. The single, 'All The Evil Of This World', provides the perfect balance of both dark and light a combination that is so prominent across the forthcoming album.

As part of a 2-year album production process, 'All The Evil Of This World' is not only a stand-out single from the LP, but it also provides the bridge into a new direction for Henry Saiz, as he gets set to embark into new territory as a musician. As a Madrid-native, Saiz is part of an exciting electronic generation in Spain, where alongside talented peers such as John Talabot and Pional, a new breed of artist is rising to the top. Having already carved out a successful career as a touring DJ/producer for some of the biggest electronic labels in the world, this new project is being self-released and is very much an exploration in sound and the format in which an electronic album can be presented.

Specialising in analogue-driven, pulsing house-meets-futuristic-pop combined with field recordings, deep atmospherics and a tempo that focuses just as much on a listening experience as it does a dance-floor, as Henry puts it himself, 'I believe that electronic music can, and should, have a message. The infinite palate of sounds and textures give the power to evoke much more complex feelings and mindscapes than the traditional pop-rock instruments the fact that you can dance to it in a club doesnt mean it cant transmit a message (and a thrill) to the listener on many levels'.

Featuring six different versions, from remixers including Chaim, ViLLAGE, Denis Kayron and Henrys own Hal Incandenza alter-ego, get prepared for the first of many new listening experiences to come from Henry Saiz in the coming months.

                              04. Le Carousel - Carousel (Phil Kieran Mix) [Phil Kieran Recordings | PKRD16]

Title track from the debut album self titled 'Le Carousel' album due for release 11th March 2013 on Phil Kieran Recordings. Le Carousel is the new band project from acclaimed Belfast DJ/recording artist Phil Kieran.

A DJ with an international reputation, Kieran is also renowned for his techno productions on dance labels including Soma, NovaMute and Bugged Out! In the mid-noughties Kieran formed punk/hardcore act Alloy Mental, who released the album We Have Control on Skint Records in 2007. He followed this with the amazingly diverse solo electronic album, Shh, for Sven Vaths venerated Cocoon label in 2009.

For Le Carousel Kieran assembled some of Irelands finest musicians, writing most of the album while staying in Donegal on the remote west coast. Fittingly Le Carousel evokes feelings of half-remembered childhood day-trips and windswept empty beaches. Fans of emotive Electronica, blissful Balearica, artists like Spiritualized, Slowdive, Pink Floyd, Goldfrapp, Steve Reich, Rothko, Bat For Lashes, and Galaxie 500 should sign up here, although anyone with a heart is going to take something away from this extraordinary piece of work.

A metaphor for the rotations occurring in everyday life, Le Carousel released on Kierans own label PKR - was a labour of love for its creator. It all pivots around an idea, a concept, its a diary of a part of my life, says Kieran. Over a two-year period I decided to really make the best thing I've ever made, and maybe will ever make.

Two influential music figures already sold on the new album are music and film soundtrack producer David Holmes, and DJ/Producer Andrew Weatherall, who have both remixed tracks. Weatherall has remixed club single Lose Your Love, while Holmes has remixed the new single Carousel. Kieran has teamed up with designer and film director Glenn Leyburn (Good Vibrations, Cherrybomb) with the intention of creating an iconic piece of art to accompany the album. A section of the artwork is attached with this announcement. The remaining sections of the artwork will be revealed in the weeks leading up to release, plus details of an exhibition and a series of launch events.

                              05. Depeche Mode - My Little Universe (Audiotox & Watson) [Mute | unreleased]

Taken from Depeche Mode's 13th studio LP Delta Machine [Mute ‎| 88765460631].

Audiotox is one of the hottest new and upcoming electronic bands integrated by dj's and producers Ariel Baund and Uma K. They met Watson, an uprising talented and ambitious producer, on the year 2009 and shared a couple of studio sessions over the internet which came out to be "very good tracks". As a result of their work some big djs from the electronic music scene played some of these tracks and then they realised they were on the right path to create something new.

These three talented argentinean musicians bring together a unique style which goes from dark progressive beats to an upbeat melodic tech-house. They crafted their own "not-so-logical out of timing and out of synch melodical perfection". 06. Momu - Rising (Issac Remix) [Loöq Records | LQ1139]

Part of Issac's magic comes from his production skills no doubt, but there's something else. It's called good taste, and it's the kind of thing that separates great producers from the crowd. You'll hear it in everything Issac touches, including these two most recent remixes of the title track from Momu's last groundbreaking album. Issac's music has long been supported by Sasha, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Charlie May to name a few, and nobody here at Looq Records is wondering why.

Momu is J.D. Moyer (the MO) and Mark Musselman (the MU). Championed from the start by the world's top DJ's such as Nick Warren and Sasha, Momu immediately made a name for themselves with ground-breaking breakbeat singles that helped create the "progressive breaks" genre. In 2006 Momu released their debut self-titled album to stunning critical acclaim. M8 Magazine said "you'll struggle to find anything as perfectly formed as this collection from breakbeat visionaries Momu." Spill Magazine opined "An absolutely cracking album from start to finish, there's not even a whiff of disappointment in this long player." 2008 brought the release of Momu's follow-up album "Momentum." Unfettered by anything except the breakbeat form itself, "Momentum" broke the "progressive breaks" mold, but Momu's signature sonic weirdness, insanely high production values, and larger than life hooks are still front and centre.

Momu's newest album "Rising" (Looq Records) opened at #3 on Beatport's Chill-Out releases chart. Other recent projects include the mind-bending "Spiral Staircase" remix of Infusion's anthem "Gotta Leave Now" (Omnis).

                              07. Holbrook & SkyKeeper - Without us [Reworck | RW17]

Pole Folder's Reworck returns with release '017' of it's ever-expanding catalogue, welcoming electronic duo Holbrook (Dmitriy Akkerman) and SkyKeeper (Ilya Bezlepkin) to the label.

Having entered the world of music production in 2010, taking in everything from progressive trance to tech-house, their debut release came soon after.

'Without Us' is a haunting, piano-laden piece with a driving, progressive edge ready for the dancefloor.

The remix comes courtesy of label head-honcho Pole Folder, which takes the track into a live and percussive direction while respecting the atmospheric qualities of the original.

                              08. Loacs Erepams - Stellar Wind (Rich Curtis Remix) [Proton Music | PROTON0208]

Located in the South of France on the Mediterranean coast, the 'Mistral' wind blows through the historical city of Montpellier to where Loacs Erepams calls home. It is from these beautiful surroundings that the Frenchman's creativity has taken form in a passion for "deep and intelligent sounds...and a hunger for classic analogue"; a unique and beautifully constructed sound that has found its way on to the likes of Maripoza, Mindfield and a home at Proton Music. 2011's debut release, "The Lightning Tree Struck" and partner track "I Can't Figure it Out" included remixes from Tokyo Bay Cruise, Apologist, Nick Stoynoff and Paul Hazendonk while in serendipitous symmetry, Loacs also remixed Mondstrahl's "Dark Face" for Proton in February 2012.

Now in 2013, these principles have coalesced to form "Stellar Wind", an exquisitely crafted track full of the characteristics so dear to Erepam's heart and featuring remixes from two similarly gifted modern producers.

From the Queensland capital, Australian Rich Curtis first earned his stripes in the cutthroat world of DJ and promotion. Working his Brisbane home, a host of successful nights were instigated giving Curtis the opportunity to play alongside his heroes in the shape of John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and fellow Australian, Anthony Pappa. Turning his attention to production in 2010, Rich Curtis' work has been in demand ever since. A first outing on Cid Inc's Replug has seen saw a further 100 production credits on Indigo, Mirabilis, Lowbit and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat imprints. On Proton, Rich's summer 2012 remix of Colourblock's "Breed" has paved the way for his forthcoming debut EP and remixing "Stellar Wind" has seen him continue his "affinity for the more musical end of house music". A strong, deep kick provides the anchor for subtly muted arpeggios to weave a magical course over shuffling hi-hats. As the track progresses, echoes of Loac's original melodies are brought to the fore combined with additional production that turns "Stellar Wind" into an understated dance floor stormer.

Moonbeam is a name that need no introduction to the world of dance music. The Russian leviathans of the progressive house and trance genre have seen their music signed to major and independent labels alike, and featured on their own Moonbeam Digital label. Approaching a staggering 1000 Beatport production credits and five hundred on Tiesto's Black Hole imprint (including the 2012 full-length album "The Random") amply illustrates the pair's credibility.

Taking their German translated name into a more techno inspired, darker sound has seen the brothers' Mondstrahl project find a home on Proton Music with 2012's "House of Cards" and finding the duo at their experimental best alongside the richly textured buzzing techno offering, "Dark Face". Working their captivating sound on Loac Erepam's "Stellar Wind", a strong beat, machine-gun fire rhythm section and popping percussive arpeggio are sandwiched either side of a luscious analogue pad that oozes melodic class. A dark filtered and rapidly moving bass line in the final movement completes the sequence, creating an innovative interpretation that is beyond comparison and has no equal.

Two 'stellar' remixes from Rich Curtis and Mondstrahl has ensures a very favourable 'wind' for Loacs Erepams.

                              09. Sigur Rós – Sćglópur (Paolo Mojo Remix) [EMI | unreleased]

Sćglópur (Icelandic for "lost at sea") is a song by Sigur Rós, the Icelandic post-rock band that fuses melodic, classical, experimental, and minimalist elements. The band is known for its ethereal sound and lead singer Jónsi’s falsetto voice. Sigur Rós means Victory Rose, named after Jonsi's little sister.

Originally released in 2006 as a single from the 2005 album Takk, parts of the song are in Icelandic, although a lengthy portion is in Hopelandic, a "language" of nonsense words selected by the band that sound similar to Icelandic.
