    Release Notes:

    01. Miyagi - Goodbye Girl (Fairmont Remix) [Der Turnbeutel | TURNBEUTEL10]

Der Turnbeutel reaches Number 10! And we picked a special and true story for this jubilee edition. Miyagi produced his "Goodbye Girl" for his ex-girlfriend at the time they broke up. All his feelings and emotions are settled down in this calm and touching.

Based on Bremen/Hamburg "der turnbeutel” was originally founded in 2010 by Gwen Simon and Henning Schmidt to produce oldschool gym bags for heavy parties and daily use. With the entry of Oliver Schories as Labelhead in 2011, well known for his productions on “Ostwind Records”, “Parquet Recordings”, “Musik gewinnt Freunde” or “Voltage Musique” “der turnbeutel” also starts to act as a small, independent music label to give artists from (but not limited to) northern Germany a platform to release their music.

The musical vision is based on groove-tinged tech-housemusic, though some techno-influenced sounds may find their way on some releases, too – but we prefer a fat bass-line than a fat bass drum, that’s for sure.

    02. Dave Angel - Harlequin [Bedrock Digital | Beddigi-34]

Dave Angel - regarded by many as the Godfather of the UK's Techno scene - returns to Bedrock with a stunning new single. "Harlequin" displays his supremely groovy and downright funky side, having evolved and matured stylistically over the years, since his early heart-stopping techno outings more than 3 decades ago now. This is Dave Angel's first outing on Bedrock since 2011, when his remix of Marco Bailey's "Rubber Band" (BEDMBDIGI01) was hailed as a pure master-class in techno genius.

The son of a jazz musician, Dave Angel's first musical instrument (appropriately) was a drum at age of eight, so it's no surprise that he developed an ear for a good groove. Since entering the consciousness of the techno community in 1990, he has pretty much remained there ever since. Although he's London born and bred, he has been making records like he's from Detroit with a distinctive twist of funk and jazz for years. Dave Angel is one of the scene's true characters, giving off an aura of positivity like no other, a kind of warmth that you cannot fail to feel through his exceptional, uplifting music.

    Released by: Bedrock Records
    Release/catalogue number: BEDDIGI-34

    03. Terranova - Wunderbar Feat. Jennifer Cardini (Painkiller EP) [Kompakt | KOM 262]

In the manifold canon of KOMPAKT artists, TERRANOVA quickly established itself as a pivotal voice in the truest sense of the word. After conducting the multi-faceted choir that was last year's album HOTEL AMOUR (KOMPAKT 24 and its extensive list of guest vocalists, the revered project now rallies the troops and replaces the long wind of the full-length by the narrative focus of the EP format. The result is the PAINKILLER, a densely textured collection of highly addictive floor tunes and the latest chapter in Terranova's ongoing house saga.

Firmly rooted in the escapist tradition of house narrators, TERRANOVA's use of vocalists nevertheless honeycombs the public notion of what exactly a genre singer is supposed to sound like. As HOTEL AMOUR did with admirable virtuosity, the PAINKILLER EP strings together the distinctive timbres of both trained and untrained voices, putting side by side the smooth indie expertise of WHOMADEWHO's Tomas Høffding aka BONHOMME (on YOU, title track PAINKILLER and ENDLESS SUMMER) and the expressive wisdom of French DJ luminary JENNIFER CARDINI (on closing track WUNDERBAR, a wonderfully counterintuitive cover of the subtext-ridden CHRISTIANE F classic). Lyrically as well as musically, TERRANOVA's latest oeuvre tells an ambivalent tale of melancholic loss and hopeful discovery without falling prey to the shallow enthusiasm of a big room flasher: rather subtle than melodramatic in their approach, the EP's four tracks display a deep knowledge of their legacy, but opt for a thorough modernisation of well-established house tropes, realising that – as with many things in life - it's the tease that makes an addiction. That's how the resourceful shaking and three-dimensional sound design of the PAINKILLER EP find themselves underpinned with sweeping moods straight out of an amour fou's toolkit, marrying raw emotions and a sense of doom with a strong urge to work that body.

    04. Sandy Perellon - Mendossa (Chris Fortier Dubstrumental) [Chronovision Ibiza | CV006]

Being an underground dj for more than a decade in France, SANDY PERRELLON mostly known for his residency at one of the most famous afters in Montpellier called BARLIVE, which led him to play in other places like LA VILLA ROUGE or better THE TECHNO PARADE in 2005 & 2006, nowadays you can find him warming things up at his new residencies L'EFFET MER, LA DUNE, HEAT & many more… His also the man behind the compilation LA DUNE VOL 1 released on the label BARLIVE RECORDS

We have the pleasure to release his very first track and welcome him on our label & roster with a stunning hit called "MENDOSSA" an absolute groover that will make you play it again, some even will consider it as a dance floor saver, which we have decided to give u a nice little underground remix package, as it deserves it. Starting with one of UK's finest nominated best Live act SAYTEK which delivers a brilliant tribal tech house remix to follow the original, then we have from New York city USA Sir CHRIS FORTIER with a more techno remix bonus by a Dub instrumental mix also, followed by Italian producer SALVO CASTELLI from the label House republic with a warehouse techno join and to close the pack we asked the Costa Rica's duo MOBIUS STRUM to give us their more deep, moody & groovy version of this amazing hit. Underground heads you are served, hope you find the one up your street in it and play it loud… by the way we got a new member on board for mastering welcoming Julien to the team, good job bro.

    05. Mark Fanciulli - Presets [Saved Records | Promo]

Following last year's success on Rejected with "The Tide", 2012 has seen Mark Fanciulli progress with more popular releases. Approached by many labels to do remixes last summer, Mark chose to remix one of his favourite tracks, Rampa's "Everything" released on Defected, which reached number 3 in the Beatport House chart. Not willing to restrict himself to just one category and wanting to remain as diverse as possible, he was back in the studio with his head down and open to a myriad of influences. His latest release on Leena "The Cutoff EP" is a testament to this.

2013 sees the Presets EP forthcoming on Saved Records, with lead track 'Presets' and 'Game Plan' on the flip. Available on 12" and download from May 20th.

    06. Acid District - Depends (Tiger Stripes Remix) [Eklektisch | EKV014]

Acid District are an up-and-coming production duo from Murcia in Spain. Not much is known about them, save for the fact that their sparse outlay thus far has led them to the likes of Los Suruba's Suruba imprint. District marks their first first outing for Edu Imbernon's Eklektisch label-and it's as formidable a debut journey you're likely to encounter.

Indeed, momentum is captured instantly via the irrepressible strands of the title-number. Bursting with colour and joyous overtones, it moves with a swagger thanks to its swelling bassline and particularly clever drum work. Just as edgy as David August's remix of Edu's ''Niquel'', it is without doubt, indicative of a real purple patch for the label.

German producer Tiger Stripes puts his own stamp on the original via his remix, one that features a distinct bottom-end, and a tough and menacing kick. In a respectful nod to the merits of the original, it doesn't abandon its roots altogether, with the spliced vocal, for instance, remaining almost totally intact.

On the B-side, ''Keep on Searching'' showcases the producer's more pensive and thoughtful traits, but it's the original—and its accompanying remix—that's set to walk home with the plaudits here.

Support from Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Danny Tenaglia, Catz n Dogz, Wehbba, Betoko, Audiojack, Slam, Henry Saiz, Tiefschwarz

    07. a/jus/ted feat. Miss Bee - Stay Up Here (Dub) [Southern Fried Records | ECB359]

a/jus/ted is the musical concept of veteran producer Justin Strauss & analog aficionado Teddy Stuart, better known as Eddie Mars, & since coming together in 2012 the pair have crafted some lush, synth heavy music. Before then they had impressive careers: in the case of Strauss, remixing & producing for some of the biggest acts in the States from a range of genres, & for Stuart it was producing his own disco fried sounds for UNO NYC.

The original version of 'Stay Up Here' is an emotional ride on top of a simple but evocative bassline with neon synths & delicate melodies all swaying infectiously. The sweet, whispered vocals from Miss Bee (who has sung for producers including Needwant's Mario Basanov before now) inject a certain steaminess & the whole track oozes cool.

As well as a dub, one half of PBR Streetgang & something of a man of the moment Bonar Bradbury also offers a remix. His version is sympathetic to the original but features a more degraded, apocalyptic bassline & sharper, more prominent claps. Finally, Golf Channel's nu disco favourites The Rhythm Odyssey also turn in a remix. This version twists & turns & is much more purposeful & electric. Pixelated synths rain down the face of the track & an anthemic piano breakdown really sets the whole thing alight.

Another fine A&R stroke for Southern Fried, this release will surely propel a/jus/ted to the next level.

    08. Lana Del Ray - Ride (Lyla's Surprise) (James Lavelle Remix) [Interscope Records | Promo]

'Ride is taken from American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey's third EP Paradise (2012). The song served as the reissue's first single through Interscope Records, Polydor Records, and Universal Music. Co-written by 'Video Games' author Justin Parker, 'Ride' is a pop ballad that thematically involves parental problems, alcohol consumption, and loneliness.

The remix package kicks up a real opus from UNKLE's James Lavelle, ably assisted by the uncredited Charlie May of Spooky. Charlie May also engineered, programmed and provided the keyboards.

Made in 2 days under a tight record label deadline. Taking the vocal/chord progression, and pushing the tempo from 99bpm to 122 bpm to bring the track to the dance-floor, May started by processing the Del Rey's voice - cutting the phrasing instead of time-stretching the distinctive vocal, adding outboard effects before adding strings and synths - with the arpeggios and delays coming from a mini-moog processed in analogue. Although Lavelle helping with the editing and creative process, this on is brimming with May's alchemy.

For a greater insight into the construction of the track check out the Sonic Academy interview above.

    09. Pedestrian - Hoyle Road (SpectraSoul Remix) [Born Electric | BE002]

BE002 welcomes Pedestrian for his first release on James Zabiela's imprint 'Born Electric' the debut offering is 'Hoyle Road'… it comes delivered in all formats along with a hard hitting package of remixers including Falty DL, SpectraSoul and Benjamin Damage & Doc Daneeka. The original is a stirring, honest piece of music with a lot to say - we think the listener will love.

Connecticut born Drew Lustman aka FaltyDL started off playing in jazz and rock bands at the tender age of 16 before going alone and re-branding as FaltyDL at the ripe of age of 19. Head Honcho at Blueberry Records and recent support to Radiohead, his offering is just the right amount of glitch and groovy; Born Electric is tres excited to have a remix from him on this package!

Hailed as the most emotive and soulful duo of Drum & Bass SpectraSoul offer a unique and imitable take on ‘Hoyle Road’; living up to their name they have provided a truly beautiful take on this track whilst retaining the original impact… we defy anyone NOT to fall for this.

50 Weapon’s finest Benjamin Damage & Doc Daneeka released their long-player ‘They!live’ last year to great critical acclaim, for this project they breathe the freshest techno vibes into Pedestrian’s debut for Born Electric – with a tougher yet still thoughtful dancefloor focused mix.
