I read that this soldier is a known commander of the FSA, that both his brothers were killed and that his parents are in prison, locked up by the regime. Taking all this in consideration, all the sorrow this guy might have in him, the sadness & the madness....everything, would that everything justify such act? By eating one man's heart, the enemy's heart, would bring back any of his lost family members? Or maybe fix anything in his mind??Comment

I think unless you've been in his shoes, had your life and all you know ruined by the conflict, then it's wrong to cast judgment. War is absolutely terrible and can strip away people's humanity. It's easy to say "this is wrong, this is a monstrous act" while sitting perfectly comfortable at home with few worries.Comment

You are totally right, in fact I am not judging but just trying to understand such act; I would not dare to judge because in fact I could not put myself in his shoes, not by a million miles. But after killing a person, a soldier, it takes a lot to get to do something like this (cut his body, open it up, take the heart out etc etc...), and what then? Do you think he felt better??Comment

^ My opinion is that acts committed by way of violence and hatred rarely bring an end to suffering. It may bring temporary relief to an individual but it simply perpetuates the cycle. These acts will simply escalate the conflict, leading to further pain and suffering. Not that there is an easy way out of this conflict, it is a real tragedy.

Not that long ago, 19th century or so, I could see something like this occurring in a wartime situation probably anywhere. Remember "Bill the Butcher" from "Gangs of New York." It wasn't very long ago that even American's were savage in the way they treated "others." In some countries, their society is still older and behind compared to many civilized societies. Anyway, just thoughts to consider.

I am watching the interview that was given by the cops who rescued those 3 little poor girls that were kidnapped, raped and tortured for 10 years, and it got me thinking that monsters like Ariel Castro would deserve such treatment instead of any soldier from any army of any country on this planet

That whole story is probably better off not being thought about for very long... it's the most vial incident I or my wife has heard about in possibly our lifetime. There are monsters out there, thankfully these things don't seem to happen that often. Or maybe I'm just naive. Either way, fuck everything about the Castro story, except for the fact that the victims are now free, which is great. Now pray that they and the little girl can find some semblance of normalcy moving forward. IMO
