ShockOne (Viper Recordings) & Doc Scott (31 Rec, Metalheadz) @ BBC Radio 1 (12.05.13)

DJ Friction Radio Show - 01 - ShockOne (Viper Recordings, Shogun Audio) @ BBC Radio 1 (12.05.2013)

Hailing from Perth, the epicenter of the Australasian drum and bass scene, ShockOne aka Karl Thomas is fast becoming one of bass music's major talents.

Since the release of 'The ShockOne EP' in 2009, which featured the chart topping 'Polygon', ShockOne has been one of the hottest names in bass music. 'Polygon' received major air-play worldwide with high-rotation play listing on Australia's Triple J radio and Radio 1's Annie Mac penning it as, 'The biggest drum and bass tune out'. The EPs three drum and bass tunes achieved the top 3 spots on Beatport's drum and bass chart, and 'Adachigahara's Theme' stayed at number 1 on the dubstep chart for over a month. Following this, ShockOne released his remix of the Brookes Brothers epic 'Crackdown' on Viper Recordings 'Acts of Madmen' LP which was labeled "Album of the Week" on Zane Lowe BBC Radio 1

DJ Friction Radio Show - 02 - Doc Scott (31, Metalheadz, Good Looking) @ BBC Radio 1 (12.05.2013)

The original “King of the Rollers”, Scott McIlroy aka Doc Scott is a true drum’n‘bass legend. With musical roots steeped in electro, hip hop, techno and house, it was the early 90s rave scene that led to Scott’s initial headlining DJ sets. In 1991 he released his first studio production, the N.H.S. EP , containing the monster Surgery track, and soon after was signed by the Reinforced crew who, under the Nasty Habits guise, put out Scott’s As Nasty As I Wanna Be EP, with the era-defining Here Comes The Drumz track. Alongside Goldie, Scott played a key role in the early Meltalheadz years, releasing tracks on the label and becoming resident DJ at the legendary Sunday night Blue Note sessions. In 1996, Scott started his own label, 31 Records, kicking things off with another classic, the Nasty Habits Shadow Boxing 12". Scott continues to release music that pushes boundaries but first and foremost remains a DJ whose sets take drum’n‘bass dance floors in new and interesting directions.
