01. Omid 16B - Double You (Original Mix 12 Inch) [Alola | ALD010]
“Double You” by Omid 16B is the first single from the master producer for a year and comes as part of a planned series of releases and parties during the summer of 2013 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his highly respected Alola record label.
Omid’s intentions are pure and simple - raising consciousness and making people aware of the musicality that can be part of any house record and still make an impact to people across genre divides, without any cheese or generic formulas.
“Double You” is a gloriously creative piece of house music, constantly evolving and growing over 12 timeless minutes in its original form, with two further mixes that travel down a more experimental and more compact edited route. This is timeless and enticing house music at its most creative.
“Another 20 Days” rounds off the release in a hazy deep house fashion. With lush melodies, analogue beats and a laid back aesthetic, “Another 20 Days” is prime ammunition for the summer terraces and sun soaked parties.
Omid is an artist who isn’t just a DJ/producer, but also a songwriter and musician who has played a range of musical instruments from an early age and has spent most of his life involved in music. When you’ve been immersed in music as a life force for so long, the whole ethos of making music tends to get deeper.
Head of the Alola, Disclosure and SexOnWax labels, he is seen as a key tastemaker across the electronic music scene. As a respected artist of high calibre, Omid has released several albums to critical acclaim and released an astonishing number of amazing singles and remixes over the years. He has created a distinctive style and unique expression that constantly inspires, and is nothing short of a true showman.
Omid is currently putting the finishing touches to a new 16B album that will emerge later this year. Next aLOLa Presents Desyn Masiello & Omid 16B at Dukes in London on Fri 28th Jun 2013

02. Electric Rescue - Rave Child (Ryan Davis Cinematic Rebuild) [Bedrock Records | BEDEREP01]
"A rebuild of Electric Rescue's rave child track in a cinematic way of techno music working on tension with an crescendo of horns, bells, strings over the soft embedded beats." [Ryan Davis]
The Rave Child EP is the first single to be taken from the forthcoming 'Sonic Architecture" album by Electric Rescue due out on Bedrock on June 10th. Alongside the excellent original is a remix from Ryan Davis along with 2 extra bonus tracks from Electric Rescue, Jardin D'Enfants and Gosa Flight, that will not feature on the album but showcase the wealth of talent this producer has.

03. Santé & Frank Lorber - Share (Resistance EP) [Cocoon Recordings | COR12"104]
We all here at cocoon still remember their label-debut as a duo. Timeless and kickin' tech-house with hands-up-energy and potential to set dance floors on fire - until today! And it seems the two continued where they stopped in 2011 but without being copycats to themselves. Again we present a strong package here that pushes the listener to the floor.
The opening track "Share" is built around a cool and modulating bass-line and the drums got spiced up with some old skool flavour for all you Kink- and Guy-Gerber-fans out there: Chicago house as we like it! The added vocals round up the start of the e.p. and makes it perfect to welcome the first sun of the season.
"All About" seems to be a bit more deeper and relaxed at start - the good old "dub" like we used to know it from the high times of vinyl-djing. Again there is old skool power in here: A massive open 909 HiHat, filtered sounds and vocals form a builder that turns more and more into a proper peak-time monster, too. Without noticing it this dub-like-smoother is morphing into massive floor filler, great!
With "Resistance" the two seem to emphasis their improved and progressed sound even more. Banging drums, loud and kicking HiHats and Claps and those detroit-like backward vocals beam us back to the motorcity-techno-age.
The digi-bonus "The Warning" is following this vibe and style but looks more on the chicago side of house again. A rollin' bass-line, filtered vocals and a groovin' drum loop that breathes the air of US-house-hero Pizarro makes this package nice and fat!
We have to thank Frank & Santé for saving the upcoming summer for us - this will be our sound of 2013!
04. Michael Mayer - Mantasy (Will Saul & October Mix) (Mantasy Remixe 2 EP) [Kompakt | KOM 272]
After releasing his highly praised sophomore full length "Mantasy" last year, KOMPAKT honcho Michael Mayer signed on some of his favourite artists to rework the album material to their liking. The second entry in a series of three, "Mantasy Remixe 2" features grandiose remixes from accomplished producers Agoria, Robag Wruhme and Will Saul & October markedly picking up on the originals’ thirst for adventure.
Seminal Frenchman Agoria certainly doesn’t need an introduction to any self respecting fan of electronic dance music, as the long list of worldwide floor biggies released by this unique producer indisputably proves. For Mantasy's lead single "Good Times", he delves deeply into the track’s cheerful, life affirming vibe, orchestrating a massive beach party fuelled by spritzing beats and sunny wobble. A pivotal primetime banger, his SUNLUNE MIX shows all the signs of an instant classic that will build floors and feed frenzies for years to come.
Mantasy’s beatless masterpiece "Baumhaus" already found some deft remix love with The Mole on Mantasy Remixe 1, an enticing affair that now gets a perfect companion in typically atypical . Starting off with some informal percussion and a hint of field recording glamour thrown in for good measure, the German sound wizard soon introduces several waves of orchestral bliss, making this remix a highly immersive trip to the heart of a magical jungle.
Simple Records’ Will Saul and production buddy October recently attracted lots of attention with their “Light Sleeper” release” that also featured an elaborate remix from Michael Mayer. They return the favor with a surprisingly mental take on Discoinfused title track "Mantasy", where they commandeer the original’s swooning synth flute and relocate it on a snowy mountaintop surrounded by a mystical chant of unknown origins. A slightly uncanny rework, this one nevertheless packs a decent punch, making it a perfect finish for an already strong collection.

05. David Alvarado - Nlta [Ovum Recordings | Promo]
Advance preview of a track charted by Ovum boss Josh Wink in April.
American underground music possesses a spirituality and depth that can only come out of the cultural and social melting pot that is unique to this country. As someone who has spent more than a decade interpreting his life experiences into music, David Alvarado has mastered the art of creating music that truly touches peoples souls, not only here in the U.S., but around the world. He uses every sound, every image that comes in to his life as his inspiration to make music that evokes the spirit of an underground culture of music that has existed for the last century.
While growing up in Los Angeles David forged an appreciation for music that was quickly being changed by technology. His early experimentation lead him to produce the “Las Americas Project”, a single that captured the attention of Plus8 records Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva, who at the time were in the process of developing a new house imprint by the name of Definitive Records. Through this relationship David was introduced to other up in coming artist’s and labels such as the Toronto based Stickman Records and Philadelphia DJ Josh Wink. His experience and exposure to the growing house music community led him to begin his own imprint, Bomb Records, which further contributed to helping David expand his audience and develop his signature sound as an artist. Bomb Records not only was the vehicle by which David increased his global audience, but also featured then up and coming artists Kenneth Grahm, Eddie Amador, and Derrick Carter.
The foresight that David exhibited with his own production and the selections for his label quickly sparked international interest and created a tour schedule that grew increasingly demanding. Despite his hectic travels David has remained focused in the studio and completed an impressive body of work for his own label, and for highly respected labels including Ovum, Ultra, Strictly Rhythm, Yoshi Toshi, Plastic City, and Peace Frog. In addition to his work as an artist he has created a catalog of highly acclaimed mix CDs for Chicago’s Guidance Records, Madrid’s Deep Sessions Vol. 2 and United DJs of America Vol. 15. All of which are now considered classics in there own right. This amazing producer whose tracks have been described as having the longest shelf life of any releases a record shop could carry is still hard at work capturing the hearts and souls of a new generation of electronic music fans.
06. David Scuba & Dance Spirit - The Wi_th [Superfreq | SFQ013]
The next release on Superfreq comes from one of the men behind the label, the fast rising talent David Scuba, who here teams up with Supernature production duo and rhythm perfectionists Dance Spirit. The four track release ‘The Wi_th’ was made using a selection of real hardware like a Juno 106, 303, Kontakt Drums and a few secret plug ins. They are tracks inspired by life and the party and prove both producers have a unique combined voice.
First up is title track ‘The Wi_th’, a slow and purposeful cut with predatory synths and slowly underlapping kicks. Plenty of occult and alien sounds and voices litter the soundscapes as the grooves prowl on, with tension released in various vocal coos. Key to the track is an arpeggiated melody that bubbles and boils up through the rhythm section to elevate things to a higher plane entirely.
‘The Nos’ is a deep and classic acid jam with a blistered 303 ripping right through the centre of the track. All around it voices appear then disappear and icy claps carry the thing forward to explosive effect. Next up, ‘The Hazing’ is a warm and bubbly ride through the cosmos with thick ambiance and molten melodies rippling from start to finish, one to take you down a trippy sonic rabbit hole late at night, ‘The Hazing’ is perfect for those more intimate dances.
Finally, ‘Soul Selector’ is a more infectious and instantly vibey jam with shuffling garage house percussion and a bassline that rides up and down the scale, taking you with it at every step. Displaying another keen understanding of melody and dynamics this pair sure do get plenty of feeling out of their machines.
“These tracks were made for people to dance to and enjoy” say David Scuba and Dance Spirit – and they are not wrong.

07. Luly.B - Frecvent (Butch Edit) (Rawhit EP) [Bouq Records | BOUQ021]
The house sound of Romania rocks worldwide dancefloor for years and it seems that more and more highly talented newcomers are emerging from this country. Amir & Butch discovered the 20 year old Iuly.B only recently and were so surprised by his sound design that they promised not only a proper EP release on their label bouq. but also a great Butch edit of his 'Frecvent'. Hypnotic, dark and twisted are expressions which come to mind immediately.
08. Julien Chaptal & Lauhaus - Jujujman (Frank Roger Remix) [Supplement Facts Records | SFR037]
t’s a French and Dutch invasion coming up next on Supplement Facts as Parisian Julien Chaptal and Amsterdam’s Lauhaus deliver ‘Jujuman’ featuring a remix from French house royalty Franck Roger. ‘Jujuman’ is a midsummer night’s dream of percussive grooves and hints of the wilderness. Franck’s remix adds inflections of psychedelia and a dose of wiggly acid while B-side ‘Watching You’ is pure heads down hypnotic rolling.
Julien Chaptal moved to Amsterdam around 2000 to keep pursuing his career in music. First shooting to fame as part of the Dutch outfit Le Clic whilst sound engineering for local bands and DJs, Julien built a solid reputation from local hero to international DJ/producer. Snapped up by Remote Area (breakthrough album ‘Tokens’ came in 2008 on the label) subsequent releases have graced labels such as Intacto, 20:20 Vision, Cityfox, Saved and most recently, Defected. Chaptal is known as one of Holland’s most agile techno artists – solo as well as together with like minded musicians Kabale und Liebe, Quazar, Boris Werner, David Labeij and Lauhaus under the Amsterdam 661 moniker.
Also a Remote Area staple artist, Lauhaus has been on the Dutch techno scene for over ten years, starting the live project Polder in 2004 with David Labeji. As well as touring with Polder or Amsterdam 661, Lauhaus is at the helm of Amsterdam parties Mono, Traffic and Mr.Stubnitz. Franck Roger is a pioneer on the French house scene and runs the consistently impressive Real Tone Records. Second studio album ‘Extensions Of Yesterday’ has just been released via Circus Company.
