          hi.

just thought i'd put in my 2 cents about my show.

b-sides all things electronic. based on downtempo, and does anything from there. electro, glitchy, dub, mellow, ambient, rock. etc... i don't play standard proggy.

just had to let that out.

and thanks skahound for mentioning me!. <3!!!

            Owned!

...told ya, ska. See what kind of trouble I'm in now?

I was most definitely referring to the stigma of "progressive" DJs who are anything but progressive. You know who you are, and who you aren't.

Chloe: I've always loved your Sound Bytes ; I didn't even know you were on Proton...okay I'm blind. I always seem to tune in to the same prog on Proton; maybe it's just when I listen.

Perhaps, just maybe, you are having a Digweed overload - I went through it back in about late 2002-early 2003 (around the time he started diversifying the Kiss 100 shows, playing MMII stuff and chill out etc).I realised that I was listening to his show religiously every week, with really high expectations, and I was getting let down more frequently(nothing to do with the standard-music just wasnt to my taste). So I had a break of a few weeks, listened again, and loved the show.

I just think that a lot of MS peeps maybe listening too much?

I don?t think that?s the case for me...I listen to an average of 1, 2 of his shows per month...enough not to OD on the man, and enough to save me time to listen to someone else.

I?ll say it again : there?s nothing wrong with not playing dark prog all the time, hell, I?m just as sick as Bill Patrick of listening to someone going "dark, tribal", blablabla, on their tracks, and living in my country, you?d get even more sick, because everyone tries to imitate DJ Vibe and Chus & Ceballos.

The point is that I look at, e.g., Sasha, now here?s someone who tried to look for something different and found it...he even plays some tracks by electro artists, but he seems to have adapted better, while not totally letting go of what he used to play.
I feel Digweed is trying something similar right now, though he does seem to take more risks than Sasha. He?ll find his place, and I commend the man for not standing still.

Picking up on what someone said, I believe change should be achieved through progression, and not through a sudden rupture.

To finish it off, I?ve actually been listening to some techno sets lately (after a LOT of time of not knowing what the hell was going on over there), by guys like Umek, Valentino Kanzyani, Henrik B, and I was surprised how much more of an open style techno seems to be now, while still maintaining what I first liked about it.

Re: Digweed last night on Kiss 100

I would agree with most that Digweed's sets haven't been real inspiring recently with a couple of exceptions. The Club Deep set that aired in March and Hot mix were pretty good.

Possibly he's still finding his way into this new sound like previously mentioned. I didn't care for his direction into really dark sounding music like his GU LA years ago, but really got into it over time.

I would think that if his push into electro-house sounds doesn't take off with the crowd then he'll move on to something else. I do respect him taking risks and trying new things though.

Now that's just wrong. Are you even familiar with the lineup over there? Let me throw a few 'run-of-the-mill' names at you (in no particular order):

                        Steve Gerrard
                        Jeff Belfi
                        Chloe
                        Tim Skinner
These djs are some of my all time favorites......and belfi fun as hell to party with...

I feel quite offended by that. Jeez, if I ever played a record from the Balance record pool I think I'd shoot myself.

Why are you bring up a topic that is like 3 months old. I think now it is a little different but yes there are some djs that seem to play the same records as everyone else. But what can you do.
