Using 'Fox' and 'News' in the same sentence is a contradiction.

Still don't think I could block fox. Maybe if they took the simpsons off the air then I probably would never watch fox. But as long as the simpsons are I have to at least watch a fox station on sunday.

              Re: Fox Blocker

Although I am not a Fox News fan because it is nothing more than the propaganda arm of the Bush administration, I'm not ready to turn it off just yet. The simple fact is that the best way to educate yourself on what is going on in the world today is to take in news and info from multiple sources, including those that present a slanted view that doesn't match your ideology, and figure out for yourself what you believe. Tuning out the other side and only getting news from the Post and the NYTs would make me as uneducated as a typical Fox News junkie, who just parrots what is coming out of the right.

Speaking of slanted media, however, CNN has become an absolute joke. In an effort to appear unbiased and impartial, CNN has become nothing more than an outlet for anyone with a spin on something to get their point onto a national stage. They regurgitate anything said by anyone, regardless of how absurd it may be, to avoid the appearance of slant. Investigative journalism at CNN has long been dead, but they are now nothing more than a puppet available for anyone's use.

How many times have you seen this on CNN:

President Bush appears on television in a blue pin-striped suit. A CNN reporter says the following in reporting on the story:

"The president appeared today and briefly spoke with reporters as he prepared to board Air Force One [showing footage]. Scott McClellan released a statement indicating that the president's suit was black. Democrats counter that the suit was navy blue with a herringbone pattern. Observer Frieda Hollingsworth, who wandered onto the tarmac by accident while walking her Scottish Terrier, "Pickles," stated that she was sure the president was wearing a bath robe and a shower cap."

Seriously, CNN's unwillingness to challenge anything said by anyone has rendered them largely useless as an actual news source. Don't journalists challenge absurd claims anymore? Perhaps this is my more and more people look to blogs to get their news -- bloggers tend to look behind the sound bites and assess the veracity of claims far more than the mainstream media nowadays.

              My $.02.
