                  Release Notes:

                  01. Soul Button feat. Stee Downes - In My Stride (Atapy Remix) [Underground Audio | UGA002]

Multifaceted British imprint Underground Audio came out all guns blazing recently, with their debut release, Underground Fables Volume 1, proving they mean business. Their latest record comes courtesy of the equally fledgling Soul Button, with the German producer turning in the magnificent In My Stride alongside esteemed Irish vocalist Stee Downes.

Deep and colourful, the original's lackadaisical flow and cosmic-sounding hues prove the perfect backdrop for Downes meandering, soul-enriched vocals. Delicate, playful and infused with a rich Balearic edge, it's also a record that neatly coincides with the impending Ibiza season.

The record's cosmopolitan edge is then cranked up a further gear courtesy of Romanian producer, Atapy. He handles the original in a vein that's indicative of his own enhancing reputation, with an initially stripped-back feel bolstered by a series of clever chords and a sun-kissed bass-line.

Habischmann leads the original to a more subtle place soon after, as he allows Downes' striking vocals extra breathing space with his waif-like interpretation, before Sasch BBC & Caspar culminate proceedings with a percussion-laced, groove-soaked anthem that makes canny use of a rising underbelly of astute synths. A soulful EP with something for everyone, In My Stride is sure to ignite dancefloors aplenty come summer time. Enjoy.

                  Release/catalogue number: UGA002
                  Release date: Jun 3, 2013

                  02. Gone Deville - From Loving You (Martin Roth Remix) [Mile End Records | MILE214]

Mile End Records is pleased to present "From Loving You" by Gone Deville. Follow up to last years successful debut " Tell Somebody". With standout remixes by Martin Roth, NOTV, and P. Barry. Songs kicks off from the beginning with a tight mix of melodic rhythms keeping a forceful flow as moody, atmospheric pads swell up,dropping out the beat before launching again with a whole range of warm, organic melodies. NOTV remix stays true to the original with NOTV's warm deep style imprinted on the mix.

Frankfurt born, Berlin based Martin Roth who splashed on the scene in 2009 with a slew of beatport top 10s and last years huge Deep House hit "Beautiful Life" delivers the quintessential summer time closer! P Barry closes things out with a more thumping bassline dance floor mover.

                  03. Marcelo Paladini - Gumdrops (Matias Vila Remix) [Agara Music | AM007]

Once again we are joined by a couple of good friends for Agara's 7th release. Marcelo Paladini from Argentina and Matias Vila from Barcelona. They are both kicking off the summer of 2013 with some nice relaxing progressive music.

Marcelo's original mix of "Gumdrops" is the more driving of the two. It is very dreamy, calm, peaceful and has a great atmosphere. Matias' remix is a bit more groovy and has a bit more swing but still is very deep and atmospheric. Both will be very usable tools for dj's in the sunny months to come.

                  04. Kassey Voorn - A Stride In The Dark (Deep Mix) [Afterglow Deep | AGRDEEP037]

The talented Kassey Voorn has a huge fan base ranging from Sven Vath to Sasha to Markus Schulz proving his musical diversity and depth of knowledge of the scene. Here he supplies two mixes of A Stride In The Dark on Berlin Based Afterglow Deep. Both of his mixes flow with melodies of haunting evocative flavours that and warm to yet with a melancholic nod. Remix honours go to Petar Dundov who utilises the warmth, adding further layers and taking us more hypnotic, locking us in to a driving journey that oozes quality from the off. A brilliant package with a wealth of goods to chose from.

                  [Release Official Review]

Afterglow Deep’s latest offering sees one of Athens’s finest producers, Kassey Voorn, step up to the plate. Voorn delivers two versions of ‘A Stride in the Dark’, while Music Man’s Petar Dundov turns in the remix.

Voorn’s Surface mix has a big, compelling sounding record, which is going to sound really great played in the right setting. This is peak time fare, with huge chord changes, bold melodies and swinging percussion really pushing proceedings along, and a really effective breakdown nicely setting up an energetic second half.

The Deep version of ‘A Stride in the Dark’ presents the same themes as the Surface mix, but over a rather more subtle melodic techno backdrop. There’s a nice warm, buzzing quality to this version.

Petar Dundov has been responsible for some of the most distinctive and memorable remixes of the last few years – just think of his takes on Alan Fitzpatrick’s ‘Reflections’ or Gregor Tresher’s ‘The Life Wire’. He’s created his own distinctive sound, for sure. His remix here features all the usual ingredients; a bubbling bass-line is offset against hypnotic little melodic motifs for 8 minutes, while delicate pads add a bit of emotional impact.

For a dancefloor picker-upper, go straight for Voorn’s own Surface mix. For deeper moments, Petar Dundov’s formula still works well enough.

                  05. Kölsch - Goldfisch (Speicher 75 EP) [Kompakt Extra | KOM EX 75]

"A very special record for me. The efx on the track were recorded many many years ago in my grandparents garden, it's my grandad messing about in the shed. There is a ghost in this song." [Kölsch]

Starting out in 2001 as a mere compilation series to tie up some loose ends from our regulars, SPEICHER has since become a guarantee for vanguard dance sounds from all over the planet, allowing KOMPAKT to invite and support electronic artists that comfortably inhabit both the delicate and the more deliberate ends of the electronic music spectrum.

For SPEICHER 75, label staple and world-venerated club juggernaut KÖLSCH returns to the series with two expectedly masterful epics for the discerning floor. Were quite used to the sight of even the most composed of crowds going strictly mental when Denmarks Rune Reilly KÖLSCH drops another one of his anthemic cuts during a live performance just think of timeless masterpieces like the hallucinogenic LORELEY (KOMPAKT EXTRA 6, the slightly nutty OPA (KOMPAKT EXTRA 70) or the sumptuous ALL THAT MATTERS (FMX/ATM 001): with literally every single one of his tracks being a wildly popular DJ choice, the man behind the chartbusters certainly knows how to create an impact.

Its those highly emotive yet unimpeachably simple leads we love so much with KÖLSCH, and were more than delighted to find them again in GOLDFISCH, a deliriously beautiful track full of shimmering pads and cinema-scopic chords.

A soaring trip to the eye of the storm, this will enchant hopers and mopers alike, making it the perfect primer for ZIG, the B-sides majestic prime time mover. Here, you'll find fizzy percussion and spanking disco rhythms leading your way to melodic bliss, fleshing out a unique vista on a mythical place where the melancholic and the ecstatic meet as friends.

                  06. James Teej - A Civil Duty (Eight Bit Ocean LP) [Last Night On Earth | LNOECD002]

Multi-faceted Canadian artist James Teej drops his second LP, ‘Eight Bit Ocean’, late-April on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth imprint.

Releasing his first James Teej singles in 2008, Teej has since become a firm fixture on the electronic music circuit with releases for We Play House, Rebirth, Supernature and No.19 Music as well as a debut LP on Radio Slave’s Rekids in 2010 entitled ‘Evening Harvest’. Since then, Teej has joined old friends Jared Simms and Voytek Korab to become one third of My Favorite Robot, an act which is steadily becoming another of Toronto’s break-outs via tracks and remixes for Visionquest and Crosstown Rebels as well as their own highly regarded My Favorite Robot Records.

Vocalist, producer, DJ, live act, A&R and collaborator - Teej is a genuine electronic music polymath and, as such, his material is imbued with a real sense of craftsmanship where every detail has its true place and meaning. It’s this meticulous DIY attitude to every aspect of his art that bleeds through ‘Eight Bit Ocean’ – nine tracks which see Teej focused on delivering a wide range of moods, tones and textures that while all centred around dance-floor rhythms, deliver much more than ‘tracky’ club tunes.

From the brooding opener, ‘A Civil Duty’, dense shifting melodies are one of the reoccurring themes of ‘Eight Bit Ocean’. Never intent on staying with one mood within one track or throughout the whole LP, Teej lets tones fall and rise throughout with melancholic aspects giving way to rousing keys (‘The Last Request’) and fluttering leads offsetting ponderous basslines (‘Liking Your Disorder’).

Sometimes it’s what is left out that really hits home on ‘Eight Bit Ocean’ – tracks like ‘Right At Home’ and ‘Stand’ use just enough vocals to humanise them without taking away the instrumental punch while the arp-driven, robust electro of ‘Reunion’ employs only as much kick as it needs. This less is more attitude is only applied to arrangements and sound choices as musically Teej runs riot, walking the line between old and new perfectly by imbibing each track with genuine subtle, emotive transitions and contrasts.

Like many classic house albums, ‘Eight Bit Ocean’ is the sound of an artist, a handful of synths, drum machines and a mic exploring musical possibilities and, as a result, makes for an enthralling listen as well as a hefty cache of dancefloor material. Timeless sounding stuff.

                  07. Electric Rescue - Rave Child (Ryan Davis Cinematic Rebuild) [Bedrock Records | BEDEREP01]

"A rebuild of Electric Rescue's rave child track in a cinematic way of techno music working on tension with an crescendo of horns, bells, strings over the soft embedded beats." [Ryan Davis]

The Rave Child EP is the first single to be taken from the forthcoming 'Sonic Architecture" album by Electric Rescue due out on Bedrock on June 10th. Alongside the excellent original is a remix from Ryan Davis along with 2 extra bonus tracks from Electric Rescue, Jardin D'Enfants and Gosa Flight, that will not feature on the album but showcase the wealth of talent this producer has.

                  Release/catalogue number: BEDEREP01
                  Release date: May 16, 2013

                  08. André Sobota - Lost (Lost Chances EP) [Monster Deep | MONDEEP110]

Monster Deep continues in a rich vein of from and brings yet more cutting edge progressive house in the truest sense! Welcoming Brazilian producer, and Pryda Friends artist, Andre Sobota, for a beautiful two track EP of the finest calibre. After gaining support of Progressive luminary Hernan Catteneo as well as many others on our last outing, we're sure this one is going to be just as big!

'Lost' is a dark, chuggy and spacy affair, layered with blissful female vocal melodies, tight percussive sounds and clean electronic synth layers that combine perfectly to create this pure progressive number. 'Chances' is a completely different animal. The groove laden main hook is exposed from the outset and snappy 'Prydz' - esque percussion comes to the fore to lay the foundations of this solid house groove. Haunting, spaced out pad layers create a sense of atmosphere dropping in and out. Don't lose your chance to own this one.

                  09. Igor Zaharov & Sober System - Soul (Cut Knob Remix) [Old SQL Recordings | OLDSQL121]

Skopje (Macedonia) based OLD SQL Recordings is electronic music label founded by Ivan Nikusev in 2011. The idea of the label is to present the best Progressive music, filled with great melodies, deep and strong bass lines, tribal rhythms and trancey elements.

The vision of the label is to support music that has inspiration from the golden days of Progressive music, from the beginning of this millennium, combined with the modern sounds of today. The focus of the label is to release high quality tracks and to help young talents to express their artistic creativity.

Igor Zaharov & Sober System are back in our label with their second EP called "Soul" featuring remixes from the well known Cut Knob and the newcomers Gux Jimenez and Zan Prevee.

Hailing from Medellin, Colombia, BoomCardona and Diego Gómez are the epitome of Deep + Dark Progressive House. Their motto is "the deeper and the darker the better". They formed Cut Knob from the profound need to do what they really like, not to supply crap music to the decadent mainstream. When Djing, they always stamp their own mark on everything they play: deep and dark music tailored to the dance-floor. Cut Knob are highly demanded as remixers because of the exceptional character they put on every track. They have worked hard to get their unique sound and are very proud of it.
                  sigpicSimonR

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.
