Danish don of atmospheric electronics Trentemøller launches a beautiful curveball for the Clash DJ podcast this week.
There are few in the game who can create lush, visceral electronica better than Anders Trentemøller, but he’s also never been one to tread the conventional path. His mix for the ‘Late Night Tales’ series in 2011 demonstrated the producer’s love for things of a more instrumental and downtempo nature – perhaps not surprising given the melodics and dark undertones in his music.
It’s in this spirit that Trentemøller has put together a mix for Clash, and just as we’d hoped, it further explores his passion for unusual musical endeavours. Beginning with Copenhagen garage rock duo Howl Baby Howl, Anders’ mix journeys through post-punk, darkwave, drone-rock, lo-fi electro, hypnotic boogie grooves and even an extended organ recital with tabla accompaniment.
Artists featured include ace punk innovators and current hot topic Savages, psych-pop nostalgists Foxygen, Lebanese composer and playwright Ziad Rahbani, golden-voiced singer-songwriter Marie Fisker and plenty more unexpected treasures. Truly a mix to lose yourself in, and one to cure those 4/4 blues.
