Heard an interview with the director, he supposedly spent about 8 hours trying to get a very stubborn Assange involved, basically Assange would only get involved for money or if he dictated the dialogue..or along those lines. In the end he decided not to go with Assange's demands.
Given the weight of the subject and principles of transparency of wikileaks etc I think the director did the right thing in the name of investigative documentaries.
