Making money/starting a business within house music - can it be done? Not DJ/producer

Are there ways to actually make money within house music other than by being a great DJ or producer?

Say if you had say $30k investment and a year to dedicate, is there anything that could be got of the ground that could potentially generate ongoing revenue?

Or are there any good, specialist salaried jobs out there within the industry which are attainable?

no in all honesty if u have 30 k lying around doing nothing i'd say investing it in house music would be a bad idea for a few reasons

house music is 20 years + old now, the age group that is into it is getting older ( excluding the edm crowd etc etc ) which means the target market is now all buying houses, running cars, having children and getting married etc so they have less disposable income to buy music, don't get me wrong there are still a lot of people buying music but if you look on places where people buy music a lot of that music is being sold of cheap because no 1 is buying it... to start a distro ( using this as an example ) you would have to build up the business from scratch and build on clientele which could take what 10-20 years before you start making some serious cash and buy that time house music is long dead

investing in music as a whole with that sort of cash is a no brainer ( in my opinion ) as you really have to look around you and see what is happening in the scene, piracy for a start ( killing the industry ? )

yeah, i had some conversations with the guy behind the dubturbo software and he is making bank off of it.

there's also that guy who made the music-lesson scheduling software for music teachers who is making dirty money.

Yes! We can finally open club MercuryServer . First location, downtown Manhattan, BAM!

Also in all honesty, I have no idea, but I wish you the best. Right now I'm getting into producing movies, $30,000 would make you an associate producer in a film whose budget is in the $1.25 million range, and right now thanks to technology, good movies can be made for that budget (with recognizable actors people enjoy).

It was fun while it lasted...
