Transitions 469 ● John Digweed with a guest mix by Ian O'Donovan

In absence of a proper thread from simonr, he can delete this later or something.

Holy fuck, Digweed's mix this week has everything, absolutely killed it. Would've been amazing if he played this live.

I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.

HARDER... DARKER... STRONGER... Disconnect/Reconnect is the third studio album from The Japanese Popstars, and the first new music since 2012s IMS anthem, Matter Of Time (featuring Green Velvet), caught the ears of Laurent Garnier, Francois K, Carl Cox and John Digweed, who promptly signed TJP to his Bedrock label. Pump Power brings back the heavy funk to their floors with a recognisable vocal cut Remixes come by way of Electric Rescue and Marino Canal. There is also a new club cut of Out Of Nowhere guaranteed to cause the damage it needs.

      06. Gregor Tresher & Petar Dundov - Superconductor (Cocoon 100 LP) [Cocoon Recordings | COR12100digital]

Cocoon Recordings celebrates the 100th release! Well, to be honest, we are even over in the 100 meanwhile as our anniversary release needed some time to get well prepared and to make sure it will be a very special one. And „very special“ is not really hitting the spot here when we look at the package that we've prepared for you: A triple pack of 12“ vinyl is waiting here including new and exclusive tunes by Lawrence, Nick Curly, André Galluzzi & Dana Ruh, Secret Cinema, Pig & Dan, Extrawelt, Recognition (aka Jacek Sienkiewicz) and last but not least two gems by Loco Dice and Ricardo Villalobos! However this is only the beginning as there is a double-CD, too that contains the tracks by the above standing heroes and further exclusive material by Dominik Eulberg, Minilogue, Santé & Frank Lorber, Popof, Timo Maas, Gregor Tresher & Petar Dundov, Electric Rescue and a track by Legowelt. And as its our 100th „birthday“ we added a pair of slipmats and made the whole packge a limited „numbered“ edition on top!

So there is a lot of new food to support the current vinyl-renaissance and we hope to see & hear many of the Cocoon Recordings #100 tunes on the beloved wheels of steel around the globe over the next weeks! This should be the right package to celebrate the magic number 100 and it continues with our sound and philosophy that brought you monster tracks by Argy, Guy Gerber, Extrawelt or the already-a-classic „Geht's Noch?“ by Roman Flügel (just to name a few out of 100). And not to forget all the great albums by artists like Minilogue, Extrawelt, Jacek Sienkiewicz, or Dominik Eulberg and even more all the mix-CDs & DVDs including the most-wanted „Sound Of The Season...“ compilations by Cocoon head Sven Väth! So we needed some time to come up with the right celebration pack here and we are sure this is it! This is the right way to say THANK YOU to all the involved artists in over 100 releases so far and even more it is the right way to THANK YOU, our fans and supporters! Without you this magic number wouldn't been reached at all!

      03. Parallel Paradox - Crying Horizons [Modu Records | MODU017]

Here is the first Modu Records release for the Second year of operation and you can clearly see how serious they are.

Parallel Paradox are the newest members of the family. Based in Manchester and messing with Techno and Minimal sounds, the very promising Greek duo produces sounds full of freshness, creativity and of course quality.

Their track Crying Horizons is a melodic winner, a sad but also encouraging story of their life. Beautifully combined old-school stabs, steady bassline, clear percussion and extraordinary melodic elements, all so nicely expressed that they simply cannot be ignored.

On remix duties, Nick Varon delivers an elegant and at the same time powerful deep version of the original track. A unique bassline, beautiful percussion and a general background atmosphere included for your deeper sets.

Next up, and lovers of driving melodic tracks are going to love the David Granha remix. He transforms the original track into a a large dance floor gem, capable of lighting a fire on the dancefloor. With its continuous flow, strong leads and crazy drums, David is undoubtably at his best.

A stand out pack for every taste, and at this rate, Modu Records second year will be a biggie!

      05. Monika Kruse - Summer Drops [Terminal M | TERM100]

      08. Carlo Gambino - My Way (Michael Gin & Donnie Lowe) [Over Recordings | OR009]

British imprint, Over Recordings, makes its return this September, with the, ‘My Way’ EP, by Carlo Gambino, backed with remixes from D-Jaw, and Michael Gin & Donnie Lowe.

Carlo Gambino, is a Northern-England based producer, notably known for his work with labels such as Hot Waves, Electronique, and 3am Recordings. Here Carlo joins the Over Recordings roster, delivering his signature, refreshing, tech-house sound for the Brighton-based label.

The release kicks off the with the original mix of title track, ‘My Way’, a bumpy, dark-house number, employing sparse, organic, percussive elements alongside eerie, evolving synth lines, subby tones and dubbed out stabs, resulting in a low-slung darkroom cut. The second original steps up next, ‘S.O.C’, takes on a different format entirely, embracing the lighter aesthetics of deep-house, with a warm synth sequence, punchy, natural percussion and a smooth blossoming vibe throughout its eight and a half minute duration.

First up on the remixes is the ‘D-Jaw Remix’ of ‘My Way’, the interpretation takes on a more direct approach with rigid 909 drums and an infectious, hooky, saw-wave bass. D-Jaw rides this out for the duration, while the latter stages introduce acidic resonant synth hits, and ethereal pads tucked into the depths of the background. Then to close the package, Michael Gin & Donnie Lowe, turn in two mixes of the original tracks, firstly, ‘S.O.C’, which sees the duo provide a brooding, stripped remix, with its focus tipped entirely towards evolving drums, and heady bass. While closer, ‘My Way (Michael Gin & Donnie Lowe Remix)’ takes a similar path, the pair introduce an amalgamation of interesting, bubbling sounds and soft pads to loom over the sturdy foundations this time, again creating a unique and intriguing reshape.

Carlo Gambino’s ‘My Way’ EP is out on Over Recordings 16th September 2013.
