Having seen recent advertisements for the newly released remake it brought back the memories of the original which I watched a while back. Carrie is certainly one for the real horror enthusiasts, no zombies, vampires in sight. Pure psychological thriller where the incumbent theme of a teenage girl experiencing her first transformations into adulthood, just depicted brilliantly.
This movie had so many attributes to make it a horror classic it remains in my books till today. John Travolta's first film, based on a best seller by Stephen Fry, and obviously directed by Brian De Palma (Scarface, The Untouchables, Carlito's Way, Mission Impossible, The Black Dahlia; to name a few).
You must forgive the lack of CGI to what were used to in today's films, and annoying sound effects, but there is definitely something so mind twisting about this movie, be it the themes, the concurring blood sequences, her family; just all adds to a really twisted physiological horror.
And again, for the horror enthusiasts this will be a good one for a night in.
