    Release Notes:

    01. gAs - Ray Of Light (Tool Mix) [Cadenza Music | Promo]
    02. gAs - Ray Of Light [Cadenza Music | Promo]

Enrico Gasperini, dj / producer [Memento Records] based in Bologna, IT - vinyl addicted and music lover.

After discovering a passion for nightlife, gAs started spinning vinyls at the age of eighteen, while studying Computer Sciences; his love for electronic music drove him to establish a close partnership with an underground record store specialised in Detroit Techno, called Main Street Records - small, but one of the finest underground record shops in Bologna, gAs was a co-owner between 2003 and 2009.

The time spent collecting and carefully listening to the sounds that have been the landmark and the inspiration for the birth of modern house music made him grow quickly as an artist, and day by day he has become a fixture on his city’s club and music scene, gaining many residencies in the most renowned venues and a widespread acclaim.

During his dj sets, he loves mixing house and techno in a unique way, layering different grooves and adding many acapellas and tools on top.

Thanks to his deep knowledge of analogue synthesis and of sound design, and thanks to his great skills in manipulating music softwares, gAs has also received several positive feedbacks since he started producing his own works: focused on bass frequencies, his tracks are characterised by warm and fat bass lines, dark voice drops, looped synth melodies and complex vocal rhythm patterns.

Currently he's an active member of Memento Records, an independent electronic label founded by Idriss D and Fabrizio Maurizi; he's also started a more housey side project, "gAs vs Linuz", with his friend and musical soul mate Lino Pugliese. Their tracks have been released on Danilo Vigorito's Orion Muzik.

    03. Danton Eeprom - Biscotto & Chimpanzee feat. Birkii (Fairmont Remix) [InFiné Music | IF2057]

Advance single cut from Danton Eeprom's new album From "If Looks Could Kill" by out February 3rd on InFiné Music. Remixes by Fairmont, Man Power and Cristal.

Eeprom stands for Electrically-Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory. It keeps vital data safe in electronic devices and can be read an infinite number of times. “If Looks Could Kill” took eighteen months to finish and certain tracks went through 26 iterations before reaching what he considered satisfactory excellence. Danton had taken his time for once, supported by Alexandre Cazac, label manager at inFiné Records and just the A&R man Danton needed.

It all started with "Biscotto & Chimpanzee". This exercise in synth-pop, a veritable invitation to jump into the sea off the Balearic Islands, laid the foundations for an intricate, detailed album.

On previous advance cut "FemDom", you can feel the fascination for the moist cellars and twisted beats of Detroit that have made his reputation. Noble, sensual techno that reminds one of sweaty bodies rubbing up against each other in the night, loaded with the promise of a certain hook-up. Nights where you’ve drunk too much, smoked too much, and yet you don’t want them to end.

A busy end to 2013 for Fairmont. His latest EP, ‘Lie to Me’ arrived in September on the much respected My Favorite Robot Records and received strong support from across the board and was awarded a solid 3/5 by Resident Advisor. The EP’s title track was also selected to be featured on John Digweed’s upcoming edition of his ‘Bedrock’ compilation series.

The Canadian native also has a number of remixes set for release before the year is out. Upcoming this month is his remix of Chloe’s ‘Low’ on My Favorite Robot Records and Henry Saiz’ ‘Take Me Home’ on Madrid based record label, Natura Sonaris. December sees the release of the Fairmont remix of Danton Eprom ‘Biscotto and Chimp’ (Infine) and Hot Since 82’s ‘Planes & Trains’ on Suara. Fairmont will then kick start 2014 with the release of his next EP, ‘Dysnomia’, out on Areal Records in January.

    04. Trancesetters - Roches (C Space Remix) [Hooj Choons | unreleased]

Unofficial remix picked up on John Digweed's recent far east tour from the Shangai based C Space collective.

Trancesetters are Dutch production duo Jamez & Dobre. Originally released in 1999 on Touché [TOU 9935] and followed in 2000 by an extensive NYC remix package (including Jon Creamer & Stephane K Main Program Mix and Dubs) the track was also picked up by Hooj Choons, with the Peace Division Remix being a key component of Communicate. Not to be outdone, Slacker turned in an epic 'Bugs In Slacker's Bassment Remix'. A final 2001 John Johnson remix package came out on Marc et Claude's ‎[MECL 0115-6]

    05. We Need Cracks - Troposhere (Geometryka EP) [Traum Schallplatten | Traum V170]

We Need Cracks give with this stunning 3-track EP "Geometryka" their debut on Traum.

We Need Cracks are the French duo from Toulouse Fabien Garcia & Antoine Rigail who have released on smaller labels so far. Both were musicians before they entered the world of electronic music party.

"Troposphere" is the opening track of the French duo and a brave one indeed when it plunges from heavy baselines. We Need Cracks are true masters of a delicate composition and have established themselves with this tune on Traum as one of the top recent producers. Please judge for yourself.

"Solarium" is a great piece of electronic music that conjures up the magic spell of Kraftwerk like melodies, so eternal and immortal and still very modern in its approach, that it leaves you with "goose skin" as we say here in Germany. This is music so emotional and yet so controlled when it gives away only small portions of it time by time that it lets your inner self scream with joy. We don’t want to say much more but let you decide on this phenomenal song.

We Need Cracks tell a tale with "Telescopium", when they switch elegantly from a snap-reading method to an epic one, keeping a perfect pace of slow motion and acceleration, deep inside a quiet storm.

"Telescopium" creates skilfully and with brilliance spaces between the lines, that set free a lot of imagination. Their wide ranging dynamics in "Telescopium" refer to subject masters such as the sky, the earth, science, the elements… but do connect very strongly to earthly matters when melodies evoke great sensual French film music.

Through that We Need Cracks create that subconscious and "muffled sensation" that clads "Telescopium" so elegantly mild and sensual.

Another month, another Conga! Our next EP comes from Swiss (via Berlin) Artist Manuelle Musik . Not only does he make great music, but he also draws our graphics (and parties hard). Remix courtesy of Berlin hero Mario Aureo. This is Triiiiiippy.

    07. Russ Yallop - The Journey feat. Aimee Sophia (Melokolektiv Remix) [Crosstown Rebels | CRM113R]

Limited release info at present. This remix wasn't included as part of the original release package [CRM113] - original info below:

Crosstown continue their run of killer singles in 2013 with the Russ Yallop’s eagerly anticipated single ‘The Journey’. Russ has been steadily honing his craft since his first killer release on Crosstown Rebels in 2010 ‘I Can’t Wait’. Back on home label turf, the London-based producer is about to unleash ‘The Journey feat. Aimee Sophia’ including a pair of storming remixes by man of the moment Huxley.

A warped ride for the senses, ‘The Journey’ is a wave of filthy house, eerie chords, heavy sub bass and those hauntingly falsetto vocals. The overall effect is darkly addictive and B-side ‘How I Feel’ feat. Belle retains the same spacious bass heavy mood with more bounce in the bass-line. A world class and in-demand DJ, Russ Yallop is recently back from the 10 years of Crosstown Rebels Rebel Rave tour that took in the most vibrant destinations of the world.A solid line in dance-floor hits on labels Hot Creations/Hot Waves, Rebellion, no.19 and Losing Suki, Russ Yallop has also released music under the alias B&B on Foot and Mouth.

Huxley aka Michael Dodman is the unstoppable producer with the garage roots and immaculate track record on labels such as Hypercolour and Tsuba. His debut on Crosstown - two takes on ‘The Journey’ are both more vigorous club work-outs. The Vocal Mix has added bleeps and a more pumping garage groove while the Dub is the beast with the techier edge.

    08. Agraba & Monkey Fish - Dreams [Akbal Music | AKBAL083]

Agraba and Monkey Fish are from Russia and they deliver Dreams, a powerful track with some infectious vocals that will bring action to the dancefloor. On the remix duties we welcome two Culprit artists, Droog and Shall Ocin. Amazing music all around this EP.

    09. Harvey Mackay & Carlo Lio - Droid Decay [Bedrock Digital | Beddigi40]

Having joined forces with label boss John Digweed and Nick Muir on 'Infinity Road - a track that appears on the pair's recent Versus compilation - Carlo Lio returns to Bedrock with his first full release teaming up with fellow techno don Harvey McKay.

Whilst his Saytek collab 'Nothing' featured on Digweed's Live In London mix at the tail end of last year, Scottish producer Harvey McKay also makes his full Bedrock debut on the new double-header.

Droid Decay sees Carlo & Harvey drop a throbbing groove, showering it in piercing cymbals and working the vocal. On the flip the sinister and hypnotic Fuck Jack rages with its angry and expletive vocal growling in the background as Lio & McKay layer their galloping drums and spooky synth line throughout.

F-+k Jack features on John Digweed's 'Live in Argentina' CD due for release in December.

Picked up Guy Mantzur's new album Moments and it's awesome. Had never heard of him until Guy J promoted the new album on facebook last week. Can't wait to give this mix a listen.

Should we expect a gift from John in the remaining episodes of 2013?

You can probably expect another end of year mix again, with some of the best tracks from 2013.

Not sure what live mixes are in the pipeline - mentioned T500 a couple of times (which hits around the end of March .. post WMC and Easter Bedrock when he'll be busy). If it was an older set assume the DAT would need to dug out and transferred to MP3.

Not sure if it's a what is going on, but johndigweed.com is still looking the same as for the past few months.

Tour dates are up to October only..give or take. .a bit tired...and the podcast for that week is from the "we are gonna need a bigger boat party" which it has been for the past few months.

Odd as last episode and this episode I have heard mention of the new site... is it .co.uk?
