Carsten Höller: Experience :: New Museum

The third floor gathers together works that seek to provide an altered or utopian experience of architectural space. For example, his Giant Psycho Tank (2000) invites viewers to float weightlessly in the water of a sensory deprivation pool, providing a tenebrous, out-of-body experience.

I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.

So nobody here has done it before? I find that hard to believe .

Rogan is the poster child for these tanks, his videos will make you want to go find one immediately.

I wanted to a year or two ago, but couldn't find them here.

Why don't you just take a salt bath with the lights off?

The place I found in Sydney was a $120.00 for an hour (Sydney right...) Is this worth it to float in water for an hour?

^I don't even $120? that's absurd. I did it for $20, granted it was a groupon, normally $35 for first float, then $40 after. It was one of the most unique experiences I've ever had. You feel like you are floating - zero gravity.

@Tiddles. don't get it buddy, it's gotta be sound proof completely, so a bath won't work. It also has to be temperature controlled so ya. As well as a large enough area so that your don't touch the walls or whatever.

does unique experiences equate to good?

"good" is really oversimplifying the experience though I know what you mean G. If you enjoy free thought and out of body experiences, then it's good. After the float you feel at peace and colors are brighter. I smiled a lot at strangers after the float, and had a sense of well being I hadnt had in a long time.
