Background Techno Experience Podcast - Episode 351 TAKAAKI ITOH

In the early 90s techno hit Japan. Surprised and intrigued, Takaaki Itoh was impressed with this sound. This unique style of beats revealed the gateway to a world of underground music in Japan - something he had never heard before. Surprise slowly gave way to addiction when Takaaki Itoh heard the sound of such artists like UR, Derrick May, Axis, Hardfloor, Sven Väth, Harthouse, Warp and Rising High. This was his sound, and finding he just couldn’t get enough of it, in 1994 Takaaki Itoh began to organise his own techno parties in Norioka Iwate having success by providing a fantastic line up. In 1996, having decided that it was time to start making his own tracks, he went out and purchased the vital instruments and began producing. After sending out 3 finished tracks to various labels, Electracom UK made the first contact with Takaaki Itoh, and followed to release his first track. This moment was something he will never forget as for the first time in his life he was able to finally release his own record. Several releases with this label followed and this tracks were the beginning to appear in the magazine dj charts from famous djs all over the world. In 2000, Takaaki Itoh made his first debut, playing at Boomerang in Slovakia. People recognized that he had his own style. His japanese style of techno was purely unique, underground and nothing that had been heard before in Europe. His reputation and popularity began to spread all over Europe. He was becoming recognized as the most underground and expected japanese techno dj. As of 2001 he was getting offers from all over Europe playing in Spain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and Hungary. Promoters wanting him, party people loving him. Takaaki Itoh has now taken the next step and started his own label Wols. Passion has led to success and now he is recognized as top to the next generation of techno music.
