    Release Notes:

    01. Freeform Five feat. Róisín Murphy - Leviathan (Tom Trago Dub Mix) [Eskimo Recordings | 541416506373]

In these fast moving times, where many acts come and go in the space of a few blog posts, it's becoming harder and harder to find artists with true staying power. Anu Pillai aka Freeform Five is one of those rare artists. Following an impressive series of originals & remixes and productions for artists like Ladyhawke, Santigold, Lana Del Rey and Little Boots, he returned to the scene with ‘Weltareh’, a collaboration with Gambian griot and master musician Juldeh Camara. On ‘Leviathan’ Freeform Five teams up with the legendary Róisín Murphy for an exercise in irresistible vocal power and anthemic, feel good appeal. Tom Trago delivers an incarnation of ‘Leviathan’ that highlights the shimmering synths and melodies and puts the funk edge and drum beats centre stage. Cage & Aviary provide a slice of dirty electro tech in their remix teeming with solid claps and bleeps and FX.

One of the youngest DJs on the Belgian DJ circuit, Maxime Firket aka Compuphonic soon moved onto the international scene with a release on Tiga’s Turbo Recordings. Further releases came on other highly acclaimed labels including Get Physical, Modular, Darkroom Dubs, Systematic Recordings, 2020 Vision and Parquet Recordings. On his ‘Leviathan’ remix, Compuphonic injects a playful bounce into the soaring sonics of the original melody.

South London based Cage & Aviary provide a slice of dirty electro tech in their remix teeming with solid claps and bleeps and FX. The duo started off with releases on the much acclaimed Dissident Distribution and have since appeared on DFA, Tiny Sticks, Astro Lab and Prins Thomas' Internasjonal label. They also run their own label The Walls Have Ears.

Tom Trago delivers two incarnations of ‘Leviathan’ firstly a dub version that highlights the shimmering synths and melodies and puts the funk edge and drum beats centre stage. His remix closing the package reintroduces Róisín’s unforgettable voice. Tom Trago is one of the Netherland’s finest producers and is the most prominent artist on Amsterdam institution Rush Hour Recordings, his third album came out on the label October last year and he also curates the offshoot label series Voyage Direct.

    03. Miyagi - Goodbye Girl (Fairmont Remix) [Der Turnbeutel | TURNBEUTEL10]

Der Turnbeutel reaches Number 10! And we picked a special and true story for this jubilee edition.

Miyagi produced his Goodbye Girl for his ex-girlfriend at the time they broke up. All his feelings and emotions are settled down in this calm and touching track, which will let you dream of the elapsed and the future. Fortunately Miyagi found a way to cope with his sadness we all can benefit from by giving this track as a present not only for his former girlfriend.

On the flip side two remixes complement this EP: Fairmont from Canada picks up the thoughtful atmosphere of the original track and adds some dark attitude. Definitely a burner and a great honour for Miyagi his farewell is remixed by one of his big idols.

The second remix is done by Zusammenklang, the man who's our shooting star in 2013. He picks up the hole story, combining the end of this relationship and also interprets this ending as a start for an upcoming party-time with his deep bass and his energetic drive through the end of this remix. Very well suited for this year's upcoming summer season and a good hint for all fresh separated people to go out and have some fun.

    04. Gardens Of God - Ys [Ellum Audio | ELL017]

Kick starting 2014 Ellum Audio get set to unleash the epic three tracker 'Ys' from Gardens of God, the new project from Lithuanian producer Mindaugas Lapinskis. Prepare to be carried on a journey through the dark and mysterious. Championed by Maceo Plex himself and already gaining huge reactions, each track builds a tapestry of electronic synths and emotive melodies above deep, dark pads and powerful percussions.

Title track 'Ys' is an dramatic builder pulsating with a strong beat as the eerie yet warm rounded chords subtly rise unveiling a moving and powerful electronic composition, richly exploring the depths and atmospherics created in the track.

Next up 'Are We feat. Egle Sirvydyte' hits with pacey percussion followed swiftly with an infectious bassline on a more uplifting tip. The beautifully smooth voice of Egle Sirvydyte floats effortlessly through the many layers adding that perfect standout element.

Following in clear line with the style of the EP 'Apnea' rounds off the package perfectly. A clear master when it comes to intricate production, deep chords intertwine and progress into a higher pitched refrain, all creating a real sense of melancholy and drama.

    05. Blamma! Blamma! feat. Kristina Train - Zsa Zsa (Eelke Kleijn's After The After Remix) [Eskimo Recordings | 541416506233D]

Fresh remixes of Blamma! Blamma!'s slo-mo, disco track 'Zsa Zsa'. First up is Andy Cato who keeps the slow vibes of the original, whilst adding a slight balearic touch with the drums. The track builds nicely with a crescendo provided by an uplifting piano and electronic synths.

In form duo, Psychemagik serve up a funk-laden remix oozing real class. Morphed guitars and synths drive the track, providing a futuristic tone.

Kiani & Red D (from FCL fame) inject a little more pace into the track, with elements of vintage electro infecting this house remix. The echoed vocals in parts add a chilling edge, with Kristina Train's voice sitting nicely over the top of the catchy bassline.

Completing the package is much talked about Dutch producer, Eelke Kleijn. His remix has real soul and depth to it, with the deep rolling synths going hand-in-hand with the morphed vocals. Darkened breakdowns with undulating high synths add a real 'German' flair to the track.

    06. Tensnake - Love Sublime ft. Nile Rodgers & Fiora (Ewan Pearson Instrumental) [Virgin/EMI | Promo]

Love Sublime is released 9th March with remixes from Duke Dumont. Le Youth, Jonas Rathsman and Ewan Pearson. Tensnake's debut album 'Glow' is out from March 7th (UK March 10th / USA March 11th).

    [factmag]

Tensnake has unveiled ‘Love Sublime’, his collaboration with disco star Nile Rodgers and the first single from his forthcoming album, Glow.

The debut album from the producer born Marco Niemerski also features collaborations with Stuart Price (AKA Jacques Lu Cont), English soul singer Jamie Lidell, Aussie voice Jeremy Glenn and 19-year-old one-to-watch MNEK, plus several tracks featuring vocals from the Tasmanian-born, Berlin-based singer Fiora.

Niemerski described the collaboration with Rodgers as “very organic” earlier this year: “I just mailed him on Facebook. He replied about 10 minutes later, which I thought was amazing, and not what I’d expected at all! We then met up for dinner at WMC and he was such a nice humble guy that we began making plans to work together. Both tracks we worked on are naturally very disco, I love it!”

‘Love Sublime’ is out March accompanied by remixes from Duke Dumont, Ewan Pearson and Le Youth. Glow follows a week later on March 10 on Virgin EMI.

Niemerski launched an offshoot of his Mirau label this summer, introducing his new True Romance imprint with a single of his own, ’58BPM’, which appears on Glow.

    [dancingastronaut]

While we patiently wait for Tensnake‘s debut album to arrive in March, a plethora of remixes of hit “Love Sublime” have already been previewed. Joining renditions from Le Youth and Ewan Pearson, Duke Dumont has tried his hand at remixing the collaboration with Fiora and Niles Rodgers. Keeping the groove of the original intact, the British producer’s remix brings along perfectly placed snares and light synths which effortlessly coincide with Fiora’s vocals. Set to be released on March 9th, the remix continues the impressive run of productions that have garnered Dumont critical acclaim and taken dance music by storm.

    07. Kuriose Naturale - Madame Psychosis (Some Might Work EP) [Ritter Butzke Studio | RBS 003]

After our successful label launch in 2013, we intend to directly continue this year. We start with our Residents 'Bizarre Naturale' and their debut release. The EP is called 'Some Might Work' is possible and so a lot of musical Interpretationsspielraum.Der

A1 Track has a title 'Madame Psychosis' and here the name is then also program . With its somber sound aesthetics , the piece creates a unique tension over the entire track length that is certainly draw us into its spell.

Continue on the A-side with 'Up From Here' that comes along much groove -based. Will be driven to the track of short but catchy vocals and a hypnotic synth melody that reminds one almost of course already film music without the focus on danceability lose.

The B-side then deals exclusively with the EP title 'Some Might Work' - Starting with the same original, which comes first some dreamy , therefore, but later than the middle of the tracks from his club compatibility fully demonstrates. The Remix this contributes no less than Kellerkind who has made a wonderful old-school House interpretation. Due to the vocal snippets from the original, the warm chords and the voluminous bass line , it really lacks nothing to can exist on any House floor this world . We are really excited to start with this multi-faceted release in the new year and hope that you share the joy !

    [Screen.fm Review]

For berlins well known club Ritter Butzke the year 2013 was a very successful one. With Ritter Butzke Studio they founded their own studio and directly released two strong records. But the New Year’s resolutions for 2014 do not have to wait long time to be satisfied.

The residents Kuriose Naturale are now releasing their first black gold on this label and it really shows that the story of success will go on. The Some Might Work EP starts with Madame Psychosis and Up From Here on the A-Side. Two strong tracks that aren’t peaktime Crackers. But with their danceable and weigh-bearing atmosphere both tracks are beautiful.

On the B-Side appears Some Might Work. Lovely Vocals create a short respite in the break until the soft and driving beat enters again to let your lazy bones move. The record is completed by a Kellerkind remix, who really creates a great conclusion by interpreting the track in his House and dance floor affinity.

    [Inhale Review]

Ritter Butzke Studio returns this February with the ‘Some Might Work’ EP, courtesy of resident of the infamous Berlin nightclub, which gives the imprint its name, Kuriose Naturale.

Following the successful launch of the Ritter Butzke Studio imprint in 2013, the label steps into the 2014 with more underground sounds. Kicking things off with material from one of the clubs long-time residents Kuriose Naturale, who drop their very first release here in the shape of ‘Some Might Work’.

The A1 cut bears the title "Madame Psychosis", and as the name would suggest the record embodies a dark aesthetic, which generates a hypnotic, spell binding feel throughout the composition as it subtly unfolds over seven minutes. Following as the A2 we have "Up From Here", tipping the focus towards a more groove-led piece. The track’s driven by short vocal snippets, lingering low-end bass, a resonant synth hook and a classic stab sequence driving the movement throughout.

Entering the B-Side we have the original mix of title track ‘Some Might Work’, opening with soft melodies, sweeping ethereal pads and a hooky saw-wave bass line, before the focal stages sees the cut come into fruition as the duo introduce vocal lines and layer up some additional melodic touches. Then to close the release Swiss artist Kellerkind (Noir Music) turns in an old school house interpretation of ‘Some Might Work’, blending vocal chops, cosseting house chords and a raw, bumpy bass hook to great effect.

Kuriose Naturale’s ‘Some Might Work’ EP is out on Ritter Butzke Studio 24th February 2014.

The live characteristics of the Pentatones are just as much a tender morsel for the body as for the spirit. The special dance floor-compatible song “Determiner”,
which has also been solidly remixed from Taron-Trekka as well as Mathias Kaden & Daniel Stefanik, takes care to get a little love from the club landscape.

    09. Eagles & Butterflies - Dymensions [Spread Your Wings | SYW003]

"Massive thanks to John Digweed for dropping 2 of my new tracks of my new EP one after the other at his huge show in Argentina! Crowd reaction at 15 mins when Dymensions drops is sick, thats why i make music!" [Eagles & Butterflies]

"Dymensions" from new next EP, big support on this one from John Digweed, Lee Curtis, Tensnake, Tale Of US, Tone Off Arc, Oxia, Cattaneo, Andrea Olivia, Stacey Pullen, Matthias Tanzmann etc

    [Datatransmission Review]

We've covered Eagles & Butterflies numerous times here, and that's no bad thing. That said, that's because Barratt is still very much an accomplished producer, with his brief discography testament to the fact. On Spread Your Wings 3, the third such outing on the similarly named label, he again demonstrates just why this is the case, with three more diverse offerings vying for our attention.

The first of these is ''Dymensions'', a gorgeous, string led anthem that'll appeal to fans of the more sensuous equation. While it follows a fairly strident path, it does so with real grace and presence. If you're yearning for a summer day at this time of year, then this track should fit the bill perfectly.

As you'd expect from a track called ''Cosmo Astroid Banana Cupcake'', this one is far less shy, although it too does take a while to come out of the traps. By the time it does, it explodes in a kaleidoscope of colour, with its firm bassline leading us on a dizzying charge that's as subdued as it is full of flair.

''Black Gold'' is another tidy and effective number, with the heat coming this time thanks to a groaning vocal and a barrage of firm, brash kicks. ''El Paraiso'' is full of latin charm, with its samba-esque percussion and its gliding chords making for a really harmonious melding of sounds. There's a lot to love here, with the man they call Eagles & Butterflies pulling a few rabbits out of the hat once again.
