    Release Notes:

    01. Eagles & Butterflies - Monologue (The Butterfly Effect LP) [Spread Your Wings | Promo]

Championed by Richie Hawtin, Felix da Housecat and John Digweed, it’s not hard to understand why Eagles & Butterflies is being talked of as a man with a big future on the cards. A DJ, producer and label owner of some esteem, the man with plain oul’ Chris Barratt on his passport has enjoyed a prolific rise of late; a feat that’s mainly attributable to the brilliance of his Spread Your Wings releases. His album ‘The Butterfly Effect’ is upcoming in 2014.

"I actually had a butterfly and eagles tattoo done, then John Digweed signed 2 of my tracks for Bedrock and he needed an artist name within a few hours! Butterflies represent the nice happy melodic stuff I make, and the eagles, the not so happy stuff. Years ago I produced under my real name for loads of cool labels like Yoshitoshi, Strictly Rhythm etc, but I wanted to start something completely different, hence the alias.

I make a track pretty much every day, so I’vee loads of tracks sat there waiting to go. I’ve also just finished my album (The Butterfly Effect), which is out mid-March on my label. I’ve always enjoyed playing with sounds and it just went from there really."

    02. Lauren Lane - Everyday Weekend [Saved Records | SAVED100.2]
    07. Steve Mac - Reaching (Joris Voorn Rework) [Saved Records | SAVED100.2]

Blue Vinyl // Both tracks taken from the 2nd of five samplers.

9 years on from their inaugural release from back in December 2004, Saved Records have now reached their landmark 100th release. Ever since SAVED001, Skylark presents Buick Project - "Chancer / Drop The Beat" Saved have stood as a benchmark for quality whilst nurturing new talent and pushing the envelope for electronic music as a whole. Celebrating the achievement in style, the Maidstone based imprint will be bringing together a mind-blowing collection of the label's favourite producers and DJ's, covering all aspects of the musical spectrum; from deep house to peak-time techno and will be available on limited vinyl samplers.

Saved 100 will feature original material from label bosses Nic and Mark Fanciulli alongside Saved mainstays Robert Dietz, Philip Bader, Stacey Pullen, Gary Beck and Alex Tepper. Mouth-watering remixers include Danny Daze, Frankie Knuckles, Joris Voorn and Adam Beyer with the likes of Subb-an, Spencer Parker, Terrence Parker and Mark Broom all also set to feature in a compilation that displays both the depth and dexterity of Saved Record's impressive back catalogue. The compilation will also come with an exclusive mix from Mark Fanciulli, serving up a label perspective from right within the eye of the Saved nucleus.

The Saved 100 tour began at Output in New York on January 3rd before heading off to Mexico for a stellar Saved showcase at this year's BPM festival. Continuing until April, it will then encompass shows in Tel Aviv, Dublin, Montpellier, Munich, Basel, Barcelona, Chicago, Miami, Detroit, Antwerp, Copenhagen, Toronto and many more.

    03. Dance Spirit - There You Are [Superfreq | SFD013]

Superfreq kicks off 2014 in some style with this new five track EP from Dance Spirit, the mysterious American duo that work around a philosophy based on attaining subconscious harmony through rhythm, timbre, melody, and movement. So far they have done so on labels like Supernature and Maison d'Etre as well as Superfreq of course, and this magical EP once again proves they are in a class of their own.

The EP was made during a 6 week stay in sunny Barcelona but it comes with a sombre side note from the duo: Being around the scene as long as we have you see people get sucked into the dark side of drugs and partying, and in LA there have even been a few suicides in our dance community, so its a message about respecting the music and the culture. If you are here to escape, you might want to tell someone and get help.

And so to the sounds, which kick off with Take In The Night, a squelchy synthesis of bobbling house beats and sharp, crisp percussion that gets tethered to earth with a big elastic bass-line. Theres plenty of decay and dirt in the way the track evolves, and more than a hint of dystopian post- apocalyptic vibes to the haunted spoken word vocals.

Following a dub version, next up is There You Are, which is another otherworldly fusion of alien sounds, scuttling bacteria and eerie synths. All this great sound design is tied to a deep mid tempo groove and Dance Spirit really create a whole world for you to get lost in.

I Got You is a supple bit of late night tech house with a dark but libidinous vocal and widescreen synths that really sounds like a pained lullaby, before final track Patterns drops a lighter, uplifting house groove with loose limbed drums, colourful melodies and plenty of subtle disco atmosphere. This is a great EP with which to start the year for Superfreq, and one that confirms Dance Spirit are very much leading the field.

    04. Few Nolder - Space Escape (Livingroom Techno 4 Compilation) [Connaisseur Recordings | cns018D]

Here John features a track by Few Nolder (aka Linas Strockis of Vilnius, Lithuania) who has releases on Planet Mu, Silence Music and Get Physical.

"Livingroom Techno 4" by Various Artists. SOON AVAILABLE ON BEATPORT AND OTHER STORES!!

After having recharged our batteries over the holidays and having planned the upcoming year, it is time for another part of Living Room Techno.

In the fourth year already, we deliver what we can do best: dance music, but not primarily for dance-floors. Cozy beats for bopping along, head nodding and hip shaking. Again, we have selected highlights from our repertoire and combined them with exclusive pearls by friends of the label. Enjoy!

    05. Subb-an feat. S.Y.F. - Say No More (Mathew Jonson Remix) [Crosstown Rebels | CRN121]

Subb-an is back with one of the most hyped tracks to land on Crosstown Rebels in recent times. A collaboration with Cedric from Azari & III under new moniker S.Y.F (Starving Yet Full), ‘Say No More’ shows the wunderkind producer on a wholly satisfying song-based tip. A killer weapon for any peak-time dancefloor, it’s a bumpy infectious ride with a wonky edge - steeped in the soul of Cedric’s vocals rolling over immaculately crafted grooves.

The ‘Terrace Dub’ drops most of the vocal and takes a deeper darker turn, made with the DC-10 terrace in mind. Crosstown favourite Mathew Jonson takes over the B-side with a languorous, sprawling rework, weaving a squelching bass-line into the bubbling soundbed with a backdrop of cosmic synths.

    Released by: Crosstown Rebels
    Release/catalogue number: CRM121
    Release date: Feb 3, 2014

    06. Audiofly feat. JAW - Excuse My Wildness (Carl Craig Remix) [Supernature | SPN033]

Audiofly return to their beloved Supernature after a hiatus of over two years following their last EP on Get physical. With a hectic worldwide touring schedule and the completion of their debut Flying Circus Ibiza residency @ Sankeys, studio time was scarce for the boys. In the few weeks they had back home in Barcelona, Anthony and Luca put their heart and soul into the creation of the Excuse My Wilderness EP. A process that took over 6 months to complete.

On remix duty are Masomenos and Carl Craig and we are premiering the Planet E founder's amazing edit of the track. The hypnotic and sidewinding remix plays on the rolling bass-line to create a driving and highly atmospheric dance-floor cut.

    Released by: Supernature
    Release/catalogue number: SPN033
    Release date: Feb 24, 2014

    08. Wollion & Harada - She Can Reach (Marc Miroir) [Paso Music | PASO038]

After several releases for the likes of 8bit, Break New Soil, Trapez, Get Physical, Yellow Tail, Leftroom, Blufin or Brise Records, Wollion & Harada return with a stunning EP on Marc Miroir's label PASO Music.

She Can Reach sees the boys from Cologne deliver a thumping tech-house number with an extraordinary male vocal and wonderfully groovy bassline. The remix comes from the label boss himself. Marc reworks the original, creating a prime-time smash. The third track on the ep, Special, is a strong percussive groover that rounds out the release to perfection.

Support by: Joris Voorn, Santé, Davide Squillace, Carlo Lio, Gregor Tresher, Karotte, Mihalis Safras, Wehbba, Okain, Chaim, Eats Everything, Layo & Bushwacka
