You all keep saying there's no end of new music so why do you want to listen to it mixed by Sasha? There are tons of other great Dj's, listen to some of their mixes until the next Sasha mix pops up. Fucking hell he puts out a mix and moan moan moan, he doesnt put out a mix and moan, moan, moan.

last time i checked, this was an internet forum to discuss ideas, state your mind, and grab music. we can't help it if sasha has been playing the same records on repeat for the last 4 years in a row.

I think there are good arguments about the endless supply of music, I don't disagree with them. I'm sure Sasha has far more access than most.

If you're playing that many new tracks every week, night, or even month, how familiar are you with them? Say you listen to 200 tracks a week: have you tested them with other tracks, have you tested them in a live setting? I think it's a bit more complicated than just pushing out new songs.

This is why I favor the "model" approach, if you will--honing a sound that you represent, which takes more effort than just being a playback machine.

That doesn't mean I support repetition consistently. Throwing in a new song you haven't tested can lead to great things. Sasha represents a "brand" of music, for better or worse, so there are expectations from the clubs/promoters, and the crowd. What that nets you is a combination of classics, recent repeats, and some new ones. That's not wrong, and that's not just Sasha, that's every major DJ out there.

I don't mean to be an apologist, I feel the argument is nuanced.

Two last thoughts: a rock band--is it ok for them to play the same songs during a tour? Why?

Second: Most people at the club don't know any of the songs. This is a specialist forum with discerning tastes and expectations. Even the argument that it gets boring to play tracks, people pay money to see you, and one of the skills they pay you for is to entertain them. Do they entertain the guy that gets the 0-day downloads, or the chick that asks "who is sarsha?" You gotta balance all that
