I?m a big New Order fan, but I haven?t heard it yet. I actually thought the album before, "Get Ready", was one of the best of their whole career, so this time I?ll believe in Rolling Stone. "Crystal" is one of the most awesome songs New Order have ever made.
I?ve got their Finsbury Park show DVD from 2002 on constant rotation...there?s this footage of them playing an old song called "In A Lonely Place", which they wrote just after Ian Curtis died, that shit just freaks me out, it?s one of the darkest, most chilling songs in history, very much like an electronic death march...in the end Bernard Sumner says "Ian Curtis, Rest In Piece man", with the whole crowd just staring amazed...they?ll be playing here in the end of May, just 2 days after Sasha?s 1st visit to Portugal. Gonna be a huge weekend.
Well, I just got it today onsale for $9.99 and I must say it's pretty darn good. It is funny that the sticker says "their best album in 15 years" Well - duh, it's one of only 3 albums they did in 15 years!!!! I'm pleased though. Goes a bit downhill at the very end. Hope they come back and do a proper tour of the US as the Chicago and Hammerstein, NY gigs sold out and tix on ebay are going for $100 a piece.
Now if only Nick McCabe could get the Verve back together................
The djs took pills to stay awake and play for seven days......
i really tried to like this album, but can't get over that it sounds like new order trying to be new order, but falling short...it's sort of all over the place, with different sounds etc...
however it is getting pretty favourable reviews in a lot of the papers here in toronto...
im not sure about it, there are a couple of cool tracks, but overalli dont think its their best. not a patch on get ready, and no track comes close to crystal. another album planned for release next year apparently...
