      Release Notes:

      01. Matías Larrosa & Nico Sparvieri - Way Back (Li-Polymer Remix) [Soundteller Records | STR028]

Soundteller Records is a record label founded in 2012 by Piotr Sarnecki aka Deersky. The label is based in Warsaw, Poland. This package also includes remixes from Li-Polymer and Matias Chilano.

      Release Date: May 12 2014

      02. Pete McCarthey A.K.A ON&ON - Maggie (Simply City Remix) [Dopamine Music | DPM025]

The 24th release on Dopamine Music featured Pete McCarthey's 'Maggie'. It was released in early March and featured an excellent remix from veteran producer Kosmas Epsilon. The release went down as one of Dopamine's coolest and most well received to date.

Now for Dopamine's 25th overall release we see the label presenting a brand new interpretation of 'Maggie' from the much hyped Simply City production duo. Cesar Bass Romero and Ruben Fellsound make up the Simply City production team and are based in Montreal, Quebec and Santiago, Chile respectively. The duo's Arthur Baker 'Breaker's Revenge' sampled 'Breaking' which was released on Nick Warren's Hope Recordings in 2013 was a huge breakthrough and the pair have been much hyped ever since.

For their 'Maggie' interpretation Simply City has crafted a superb complement to the previously released Original and Kosmas Epsilon mixes. The duos tough kick is pristinely polished and hits with a dynamic bounce that gives the piece amazing energy straight away. The waves of hypnotic bass tones lay down a wicked foundation while the delicately sequenced pianos are undeniably haunting. As the warm textures begin to gradually encompass the framework a heightened sense of emotion is soon realised. The main breakdown just furthers that as the fluttering rhythms and spacey electronics are sure to raise some goosebumps on your dance floor.

The one and only Hernan Cattaneo has already been a huge supporter of the production. The hugely influential DJ has not only featured the track on his Resident Delta FM radio show but has also charted it for the month of April. A superb production from Simply City who continue to impress and leave their quickly growing fan base wanting more.

      Dopamine Music [DPM025]
      Release Date: Jun 02 2014

      03. Kasall & Cristian R - Genuine Sound [Particles | Promo]

Progressive House producers Cristian R (Cristian Ramirez of Temperley BA) and Kasall have both had decent success in their solo careers with appearances on Soundteller, Baroque, Asymmetric and Mirabilis Records. Fans of Cristian love the smooth, dreamy sound he generally presents and it's melded perfectly with Kasall's tech house / progressive hybrid style.

      04. Ioan Gamboa - Electronic Colors (Vibrations LP) [Particles | PSI1416]

The album title "vibrations" is due to one of Ioan’s all time heroes, Nikola Tesla, who once said: ‘all in the universe is energy and all forms of energy are vibrations with their own frequency, so everything that’s around you, - not only what you hear, but what touch, see, feel or even ourselves - are vibrations with an specific frequency that make everything different and unique’

Following his inspiration, Ioan discovered Cymatics, the science that studies the way that sound vibrations impact in matter and how matter reacts to an specific sound or vibration.

It turns out that some sounds can make us happy, angry or even heal us, so this is the main reason the whole album is not tune to A = 440hz, but to 444Hz instead. As this theory holds, it is much better for the listener in many ways.

Vibrations is the first album as Ioan Gamboa, and during the productions work he has experimented and pushed himself out of his confort zone to dare with different sounds and track structures, trying to spread and sisthesize his own ‘Vibrations’.

"Vibrations" Has been released both in digital and CD on May 5th.

      05. Daraspa - Rendro [Sound Avenue | SA033]

One of the most impressive artist debuts of 2013 was undoubtedly Daraspa's 'Art Of Illusion' EP. It marked Sound Avenue's 28th overall release and showcased the Dutch producer's fresh and inspiring sound perfectly. In addition to having his EP earn support from John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren Daraspa was also featured heavily on the premiere electronic music station frisky Radio. The Dutch producer was showcased as their 'Artist of the Week' in January and was promptly offered his own monthly show (Halcyon) which is now in full swing. The 33rd release on Sound Avenue sees Daraspa returning to the label for a new single entitled 'Rendro' which comes with remixes from Andre Sobota and Eyal Cohen.

Daraspa's uniquely tailored electronics are quite striking as 'Rendro' begins. The delicate hypnotic tones and growling bass stabs are the ultimate in textural contrast while the vibrant hits add a club friendly electricity to the air. As the haunting synths continue to build around the wobbly groove the rich atmospheric haze elevates with them. Upon reaching the main break the rough bassy textures wobble with a tension filled growl while the flickering hypnotic pulses signal the kick to drop back in. With a stripped portion of the groove now in full swing the menacing waves rip through the atmosphere with an even greater sense of purpose. This is a track with a real presence and as great as the 'Art of Illusion' was and still is this might be the crowning production of Daraspa's young career.

The first remix is provided by Andre Sobota who is making his debut on Sound Avenue. The Brazilian producer should need little introduction as he's been one of the most loved progressive house producers of the last two years. Andre's rise to electronic music stardom all began in 2012 when his remix of Coldplay & Rihanna's 'Princess Of China' was picked up and played by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. Subsequent signings by Pryda Friends, Anjunadeep and microCastle have yielded what many consider to be some of the best electronic music releases of the last year. Andre is now one of the most sought after remixers of the moment and a firm favourite of Above & Beyond who have featured him numerous times on their infamous Group Therapy radio show. Andre's 'Rendro' interpretation takes all the great elements from Daraspa's original and just builds on their unique brilliance. With a club friendly flair the Brazilian has infused his much loved melodic energy into the composition with intelligent chord changes and an ethereal ambiance that will enchant even the most discerning of dance floors.

The second and final remix comes from Eyal Cohen who is making his first appearance on Sound Avenue. Eyal began his journey into music production in 2009 which followed an already successful DJ career in the Israeli club scene. Eyal's first productions were signed by Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank imprint and subsequent releases were featured on Dopamine Music, AK Tek and Deepmentality. This is Eyal's first production of 2014 and he's delivered a superb remix to close the package off. The Israeli producer's deep, tech house take on 'Rendro' proves to be the ideal complement for the previous two versions. While still managing to work in the haunting atmospheric elements Eyal has added a wonderful underbelly of funk. As the undeniably groovy foundation builds momentum the track slowly gets encompassed with spacey electronics and bubbly synths. These elements prove to be the ultimate slow burning hooks which build to a moody climax that's going to be perfect for all those intelligent dance floors out there.

      06. Totem Pole - Studio K0 [unreleased]

Totem Pole (Alejandro González Vistas) is a DJ and producer from Mendoza, Argentina and has had releases on Maktub Recordings,

      07. Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek (Corei Unofficial Mix) [Megaphonic Records | unreleased]

Corei is Diego Medina of Buenos Aires, Argentina and has releases on Baires Records, Stripped Recordings, Hype Muzik, Southsight Records, InsomniaFM Digital, Evolution Recordings and Mystic Carousel Records.

"Hide and Seek" is a 2005 song written, produced, and performed by Imogen Heap. The song was released as the first single from her second album Speak for Yourself. The song is performed with the sole accompaniment being a keyboard synth transformed by a vocoder, creating an altered acappella sound.

The song gained popularity after being featured as background music in the films The Last Kiss, The Town and Warren Miller's Off the Grid. It has also been featured in the series So You Think You Can Dance, Smith, The L Word, The Real World: Sydney, Gossip Girl, Degrassi: The Next Generation, The O.C., the German telenovela Anna und die Liebe and CSI: Miami.

      08. Verche - Paradigm Shift [System Recordings | SYS2642]

VECHE flips the script with the subtle, techno-esq 'PARADIGM SHIFT/DEVIL'S GROUND EP'. PARADIGM SHIFT enters dark and deep, while "DEVIL'S GROUND" leaves you off balance with the wobbly bass and moving hi-hats.

It's been a busy month for System Recordings who have delivered some of their best progressive house releases to start the second quarter of 2014. Antrim's 'Rita' which was released earlier this month was a resounding success and still sits in the Beatport top 50 at the time of this writing. One of the driving forces behind System's resurgence into the progressive house underground has undoubtedly been Verche. The Croatian producer has been a long time favourite of mine and in addition to being part of the labels A&R team he has also appeared on the storied US imprint 25 times. This week sees the release of his new double A-side release 'Paradigm Shift / Devil's Ground'.

It's a rare thing when you see legitimate support from John Digweed, Laurent Garnier and Hernan Cattaneo on the same release but that's exactly what Verche's new EP has achieved. It's a great thing to see that such recognizable figures are seeing the brilliance in Verche's music. He's a producer that wholeheartedly deserves the attention and 'Paradigm Shift' is one of his dreamiest creations to date. The Verche sound always seems to be evolving from release to release. The irresistible textures take on new character and the otherworldly atmospheres always seem to reach new heights. 'Paradigm's Shift' is just another amazing extension of the Croatian's far reaching sound. It's rare to find such charming beauty in electronic music these days but this production has that and much more. The companion piece 'Devil's Ground' is a slightly moodier production and it offsets the shimmering beauty of 'Paradigm Shift' rather nicely. Grinding lines combined with flickering electronic clusters and clattering drums give the piece an enormous presence. The brooding nature of the track seems to be constantly building and with moments of inner beauty the goosebump moments are plentiful. It rounds out what is one of Verche's best two trackers to date and one of System's best releases of the year.

      Release Date: 21 April 2014

      09. Paul Kalkbrenner - Fochleise-Kassette (Santi Mossman & Rodrigo Mateo Remix) [Paul Kalkbrenner Musik | unreleased]

Paul Kalkbrenner, born 1977 in Leipzig, is a German live act, producer of electronic music, and actor (Berlin Calling). Before Ellen Allien established BPitch Control as a record label, she was throwing BPitch parties all around Berlin. It was at one of her parties that Kalkbrenner met Allien. In 1999, Kalkbrenner released his first tracks as the Friedrichshain EP on BPitch Control under the name “Paul dB+.” After releasing two albums, “Superimpose” (2001) and “Zeit” (2001), Kalkbrenner began to see album releases as his preferred format. His melodic sound, with its affinity for grand emotional gestures, obeyed the logic of the dance-floor, but his third album,"Self" (2004), introduced a narrative aesthetic. The track "Gebrünn Gebrünn", released one year later, became a crossover hit. Kalkbrenner released six albums and ten EPs with BPitch Control, before setting up his own label in 2009.

Since then PK has release 'Icke Wieder' in 2011 and 'Guten Tag' in 2012 which includes the track Fochleise-Kassette.
