    Under The Electric Sky [2014]

Can't say I appreciate the angle on this, elevating this juvenile circus into something more.

I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.

Have you been? To the kids that do go - they feel like it's a special thing, I'd say the narrative is rather accurate based on the college kids I know that attend EDC. It's their version of PLUR...the filmmakers are just capturing it and feeding it back to the kids that go in hopes that their network will watch - have questions answered and increase the level of interest thus selling more tix. Look at it as a big commercial under the guise of a "documentary." When I was there this yr working for Motorola it seemed like mostly nonsense but to the youth - they didn't know any different, as there is no underground race culture anymore. So to us it seems like a caricature but to the kids - they don't know any better. Sad but true.

It was fun while it lasted...

Not to EDC but I've been to enough in my time, from small illegal ones to warehouses to big circus productions like this.

I think it IS a special thing when you're in and part of it. But as you said, it's a matter of reference isn't it? These kids don't know any different. To them this fluorescent circus production is IT, and special. To me this is a gaudy over the top commercial event.

        (Edit *underground rave culture)

It was funny - during the sound check before EDC Orlando began the dj's played the best classic soul and r&b and classic hip hop - it sounded so fucking good - and a world apart better than the Trap that was soon to be blaring from the same sound system. And either I'm getting older or the music has gotten louder? I think it's just more bass heavy nowadays - fack it was loud!

Combining those personal stories along with performances by Fatboy Slim, Kaskade, Dillon Francis, Afrojack, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buren, Avicii, and Tiësto
          Commence lack of interest.

these types of festivals are the reason why real electronic music is dying!

Why do you think John Digweed does EDC? And "yes" most of the music is shit, but a lot of it is decent trance, which is the genre many of us started listening to in the first place... and still do ... occasionally... at the gym.. or whatever

Q: Why did John Digweed do EDC?
A: Because he, much like most of us like money and lots of it.

I use to like trance, got nothing against, I just hate the commercialism factor added to anything mainstream in modern day EDM (trance included). It has just overwhelmingly sky rocketed, be it in festivals, products, and anything price tag associated with it.Another factor is of the rarity of finding music suited to my style in the commercial sense, the same mediocrity of pattern in songs with that 'drop' is what dissatisfies my taste.

yeah.. I went in 2012 and last year.. the house/techno stage was really nice last year. Its actually possible to avoid the shitty music for the most part

Digweed did an after party last year which was great fun, and his set at edc was awesome. Sasha's set was one of the best I've heard.. short, bur very nice.

but what's your opinion on the narrative of this documentary? accurate or an elevation of a juvenile circus?

I agree with your assessment and the difficulty in finding anything suiting my own senses while mediocrity abounds. Makes it cool when something actually hits me though.
